“Nice hotel shame about the food”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Came back from our stay at the Alkyon a few days ago, the hotel was lovely good location we had a triple room as my son also came it was basic but ok we overlooked the the garden and childrens play area which was nice as it was quiet. Room cleaned every day except Sundays but that was fine the pool area was good, as there were a lot of English people there no towels on sunbeds were seen but there were plenty of sunbeds anyway. Now the food, breakfast was not very good all you could get was tinned fruit why not fresh fruit there was plenty over there greek yoghurt, to choices of cereal, some cheese and ham slices, some croissents, toast and jam and that was it. If you wanted a cook breakfast you had to pay for it, cannot understand why never had to do that before, don't the management ever read these reviews to improve on them.
Dinner was ok not much choice but enough it was all quite edible, but why is someone handing out desserts are they frightened people will take more than one heaven forbid. The entertainment at night was ok mostly tribute acts like Abba, Freddy Mercury, The Beatles etc. All in all a nice hotel but definitely needs to improve the food especially breakfast.

Room Tip: We were in room 205 triple room overlooking the garden was fairly quiet.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of June (after doing a weeks cruise), The hotel is clean spacious and very friendly. Our room (303) overlooked the back of the hotel onto the woods very quite and nice for having a few quite drinks on the balcony. The staff are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help you, Jasmin the rep was very knowledgeable and very pleasant. The pool/garden area was spacious with loads of sunbeds ..... probably the most comfortable I have used.
Fridge Hire 10 euros a week (used)
Safety deposit 15 euros a week (did use locked everything in our suitcase0
air con 35 euros a week ( didnt need - not hot enough)
The only downside I can complain about is the food .....Breakfast .... tinned fruit, cheap cereal, bread ham and cheese, Tea/Dinner...... salads were getting better my the end of the week but the main courses were very bland and repetitive and it tasted like they had left ingredients out of some of the Greek dishes Sweet .... if you liked jelly, strawberries (separately) with aerosol cream you will be ok, occasionally they had creme bruel, walnut cake and lemon meringue mousse but you had to be quick to get them as they only had 3/4.. ( we ate out a few nights)The entertainment in the hotel was ok but like the resort it was all very similar all tribute bands. On the whole enjoyed my one week stay in the hotel not the resort it was to British it felt like going to my local seaside town ie Newcastle/Portrush (NI)/ Blackpool..... would I go back Yes if they could lift the hotel to another resort

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the back of the hotel ie 303...

Arrived back from a 2 week stay at the hotel with my children and mum and dad. This is our 3rd time at this hotel but haven't been for 10years. The staff are so friendly especially Dino, and Mario and Maria. Food was very nice, although the puddings were a bit of a let down, it was always the same thing and not much variety, and there was always someone stood there to hand you your pudding just incase you decided to have 2 lol. The 3 bed rooms are spacious with large wardrobes, the bathroom is in need of refurbishment though. The rooms are cleaned everyday except sundays and clean towels are left if needed everyday.

Entertainment was very good, but the Greek night was a bit of a let down was looking forward to the bar staff dancing with fire like they did last time we was there, instead there was 2 traditionaly dressed Greek dancers in costume, but the dances all seemed the same. There was tribute acts on some of the nights too, but the problem is that if you are going for 2 weeks the acts are repeated, which was a let down, bingo night was dragged out too much, think this was so you would buy more drinks.

Im going to go back next year but going to go in June as the pool was too cold at the end of may.

Overall fantastic holiday very relaxing and all the family enjoyed it.

Room Tip: rooms on the back of the hotel have the sun all day and are very quiet.

Just back from 2 weeks at the Alkyon with mixed feelings. As a hotel there were few complaints, until it came to the food. I know that the clientele was primarily English but that doesn't mean we all want to eat roast meat, mash potatoes and frozen broccoli and carrots - with gravy ! The number of 'real' greek dishes was few and far between and tasted nothing like the greek food we were used to. A kleftiko - really ? And cooked with cinnamon, even the beef. But worst of all ....... chips, chips and more chips.
As for breakfast, well that just added to the unhealthy options on offer. No fresh fruit - in Greece ! Tinned fruit with the yoghurt, cheap and tasteless cereals and white bread with bland meat and cheese. And as for eggs - well unless you ordered a full English they were just not an option, despite everybody asking for them.
I'm sure a lot of English people lapped this up, certainly the ones who looked like they didn't know the meaning of the word Diet, but for those of us who wanted the healthy Mediterranean option and taste of the real Greece, it was a serious disappointment

Room Tip: Don't take a room overlooking the pool if you want a good night's sleep

We went to this hotel as the second week of a cruise/stay. Firstly, it was an hour away from Corfu, over the mountain which really upset my Mother as we were not told this and she is scared of heights. The Hotel itself was clean and cleaned every day. Rooms were very cold. Beds hard. No Wi-Fi in any rooms although we were told that there was. As for the food.......NOT ONCE did we have a hot meal. It was all tepid and some of the dishes were a bit congealed. Very disappointing. However, the food you could order in the day around the pool was superb. Hot and plentiful. Breakfast good if you like toast and jam. The staff were pretty miserable and the entertainment probably the worst I have ever seen. Only five minutes from a nice little town with lovely restaurants. Also five minutes from the sea. Would I go there again? No.

Room Tip: Ask for one that gets some sun on it.

Me and my friends stayed at the alkyon hotel in may the staff were very friendly but we all didn't think much of the food or the hotel and wouldn't stay there again and didnt have much of a selection of food and they don't cater for u if your diabetic because my friend is diabetic or vegetarian and im a vegetarian u only get one pudding and can't go back for any seconds on the meal and pudding the breakfast a bit boring not much of a selection either my u can buy a fried breakfast for 2.50 euros but u could go down to the restaurants down the strip
as we'll . The rooms were horrible and miles to small also the bathroom and the bathroom shower wasn't very nice either also they don't clean the rooms very well towels ain't bigger enough for u to use. The area sidari is beautiful with lots of bars and restaurants and souvenir shops down the strip also canel D,Amour was a loverly place to visit with a few shops and restaurants but I would go back to sidari but as self catering
