Together with my girlfriend I spent two nights on Ko Yao Yai. We visited Baan Rim Nam three times during that time. Besides the very delicious food, the hospitality of the staff and the owner blew us away. We were able to join Kai (nickname of the owner) on a fishing trip in the morning. He was happy to explain the different fishing techniques and proud to present the caught fish. He even took us to their on-sea-fish-farm where we got to see sea animals, you normally just see in an aquarium. Initially we came to Yao Yai trying to escape the tourist crowds on the other islands. This family prooved that the rumour of Thai friendlyness and hospitality (and fantastic kitchen) is true and even more noticeable when you keep aloof from the touristic places. Long story short: we recommend Baan Rim Nam 100%!
