We stayed here for 1 week with our 1 year old son and had a fantastic time. The place met and far exceeded our needs and expectations especially considering how reasonably priced it was.

Sea View is not a hotel, there are only around 12 rooms, all large (3 beds), with self-catering facilities, and balconies. As a result there was always lots of space around the pool, and the spacious pool-side facilities.

The place is very well run, Michael, the owner, never seems to sleep, and constantly goes the extra mile to provide the type of additional service that would be impossible in a larger resort.

Michael’s mum does the cooking which is a mixture of English, German, and Greek, and is superb. We visited a number of other restaurants during our stay but none of them were as good as Sea View, particularly the Stifado (slow-cooked beef and caramelised onions). The prices were consistent with those found everywhere else on the island.

Michael’s dad does the maintenance and here the standards are immaculate. The apartments inside and out, the poolside, and bar areas, were spotlessly clean and everything was maintained to the highest standard, including the bushes and flowers. This was really important to us being with a toddler who likes to explore everything everywhere.

The only two imperfections to be aware of are that the hot water may be reduced at peak times (early morning) and the wi-fi cloud doesn’t extend to the apartments furthest from the bar.

This place that is clearly loved by the family who care for it, and as a result was a pleasure to visit.

When we arrived the company in England had not sent my booking details, however Michael (the owner) took us to another hotel and picked us up in the morning.
He was very helpful and friendly and his mum is a fantastic cook.
The apartments are huge and clean with clean towels and bedding every other day.
Very quiet in Tholos but the bus service to Rhodes town is excellent and from town you can get to other places.
We had a car for 3 days and got to see the whole island.
Michael is very chatty and half the time he knocks money off your bill for food and drink.
The little village is about a 15 min stroll and there is a lovely new coffee shop there.
We also took a bus to Kremasti one evening and there is more there and quite good for an evening out.
All in all Tholos is very quiet but if you don't want to do much then Sea view is a lovely place to stay, it's a shame the apartments can't be picked up and put somewhere a little more lively.
Thank goodness for Dundees bar 'cause they did have some entertainment (even if it was the same guy each time). It was also fun looking for the people with the blue wrist bands (they were staying at Doretta Beach Hotel), it became noticable how many of them went to Dundees and took the bus to Rhodes each evening. When they got to know you they were very verbal on how absolutly s**t Doretta was.
So even if Tholos is quiet I thanked my lucky stars I was at Sea View and not Doretta!

We paid in England for our transfer to and from the hotel at a cost of nearly £50, wish we had taken the local taxi which only cost 12 Euros! Very easy to book your own when you arrive at the airport. Plenty of taxis around and a specialised taxi desk called Grand Tours. We arrived after midnight and left 15 days later around the same time. We were given the option of paying for 13 nights or 15 nights, of course if we had paid for only 13 nights we could not have got into our rooms until early in the morning and on leaving we would have to have packed our bags to be out of the rooms in the morning. At less than £800 for 2 adults and one 15 year old, for two weeks, including flights, transfers and accommodation, it was good value. The apartment had a lovely pool not utilised much in the morning or evening, but in the afternoons non residents came, particularly around siesta time, this was great to meet locals who were well behaved and only stayed for short periods. Two pools merge together, so toddlers were safe in one pool and adults could swim lengths comfortably whilst others lay on lilos, or played water ball games, room for all. There was a clean shower and plenty of pool side beds. The disadvantage of the beds was they had no mattresses, so could be hard, but of course the pool was there to have fun in and so only the sun worshippers stayed on these beds all day. It was annoying when people left towels on the beds when they went elsewhere, for long periods of time, this seemed quite selfish. I could understand it if people went to sit in the lovely outside restaurant or in the shaded eating area overlooking the pool. There were always plenty of snacks available and you could also play pool or tennis on the court, which needed a bit of weeding, but was otherwise fine! Hard court. We were greeted on arrival with a welcome drink, even though it was long after midnight, but very much appreciated. There was no air conditioning, unless you paid extra, but despite very high temperatures this was not necessary as on the west side of the island there is a welcome breeze. The seaview studios all had seaviews, fantastic sunsets seen at night and an artists paradise. Great for teenagers who love chilling and swimming. Only a few metres to the sea, with shallow waters, stony beach, but plenty of sandy areas to lie down and with surfer shoes on, cheap to buy locally, the stones were no problem, in fact having visited the east side of the island with its tacky tourism, I am glad that we found this jewel in the crown. As a self catering place it was basic, with only two electric hobs, but you don't need more. Easy to boil water and cook most things, though not for the microwaveable fans, as there was none - thank goodness. A fridge wtih freezer compartment kept things very cold. The cutlery was basic and for 3 residents there was a shortage of a cup and saucer and side plate. I would highly recommend to families with young children and those with teenagers who like to have fun in the water. Also excellent for young gap year people who want a place to crash out with their friends, a safe place for parents to send their children off to when they want to leave home with friends for a holiday. Not an interfering place, so if you want to be private, you could be, without people bothering you, even though a small place and great for artists to draw sunsets. Food was mixed, some Greek - the basics for tourists, e.g. Greek salad, moussaka and souvlaki, but other basic foods like omlette, schnitzel, all well cooked and good portions and personalised, e.g. extra olives added if you want. Also if you wanted to go to another swimming pool locally there were many within walking distance which accepted non residents, so you did not have to swim at Seaview or eat there if you did not want to, everything such as entertainment, supermarkets, sea, other pools, valley of butterflies all within walking distance.

Me and my family have been visiting tholos for around 10 years 1997 (year after year) we love it ! The first year we went we stayed in a different hotel in tholos; as we booked last minute and allocated a hotel on arrival. The first few days we just wandered around looking at different bars and pools. We met another family there and got talking, they took us to there apartment which was the Sea View.

The hotel we was staying in at the time had no pool or bar so we thought we would try the facilities at the Sea View. It was delicious ! So we decided to visit more regular. The rooms are spotless, very basic but thats all you need when you are on holiday as you don't use them other than to sleep and get ready for the evening. The staff were extremely pleasent and helpful guiding us around tholos and letting us know about the local attractions.

After a week of visiting the Sea View Apartments regularly, we decided to book there for the following year again everything from the room to the pool to the food and staff were FANTASTIC. We visited every year for around ten years as we can't get enough of the greek life.

Not only did we discover a fabulous hotel and village we made some remarkable friends with Michael and his family. I would live there if I could afford! haha
Thanks Michael and family for ten brilliant holidays.

We booked a late deal for a week through "Monster Travel" via "teletext holidays" website. Departing from Bristol meant we arrived very early (2 am), upon attempting to get a taxi from outside Rhodes airport, we were confronted with abnoxious Greek taxi drivers completely disinterested in taking a fare that was a meagre 2 miles away...to Tholos town. Managed to convince one guy to take us, (still cost £12) and then spent the next 40minutes driving aimlessly around tholos as it appeared no-one seemed to know of 'Sea View Apartments'.
We managed to direct him down a side road, and spotted the sign (un lit) above a darkened building. On our approach, it appeared that there were no lights on and certainly no-one present to greet us. We arrived to find another couple who were also waiting to be let into their room, and after attempting to ring 3 of our '24 hour helpline' numbers supplied by Monster Travel, we all settled down to try and sleep in the open taverna seating area. We had no choice at this point, as we considered trying to book in somewhere else, but Tholos was dead at 3.30am. At 4am another guest arrived in a taxi- he even spoke Greek and had had trouble locating the apartments. He joined our ever growing group as we sat and waited.

Tired, despondent and angry by this point, at 6.30- we noticed a family emerging from one of the apartments. Luckily they had a contact number for the owner whom we promptly rang only to be told our names and room numbers were on a free standing 'Amstel Menu' board outside the restaurant, facing the opposite way to the road and UN LIT !!

We let ourselves into the apartments, which needless to say were clean and inviting..... However, just as the previous review mentions, the disinterest from Michael the owner was ridiculous. There was no way 5 adults would have willingly decided to 'camp out' in uncomfortable chairs after 7 hours of travel from different regions of the UK- if we had known our rooms were available for us.

This inconvenience was met with incredulity and we were given one nights free air-con. However, we lost one night of our holiday due to this lack of organisation and professionalism and after 6 days, we were removed from our rooms (us and the other couple) at 11am when our departure time wasn't until 15 hours later at 3am. In essence, a 7 day holiday with Sea View, when you arrive on an early morning flight and depart at a similar time, means you actually pay for 7 nights and stay in a bed for 5.

A disappointment, the fabric of the place is nice but the management leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, you book a week somewhere with only 11 apartments as the attraction is that it wont be crowded around the otherwise lovely pool. Except you dont know till you arrive that this is one of the only Public Pools in Tholos. With alot of local kids desperate for icecream and 9-7pm swimming parties, the once attractive pool area soon becomes a big fat greek party with little room for the apartments guests.

IF you head to Tholos, take some time to pop into 'Bella Vista' restaurant just down the main road- delicious food!

ps... if you are coming to Tholos for a holiday where you can sample some of the "greek seafood", then you will be disappointed... especially with the strength of the Euro at the moment... there is very little choice (max 3 dishes) and a plate of prawns will set you back £22!!!
