“Relaxing holiday miss it!”
Reviewed 18 September 2011

Came back on the 7th September after 7 days of sun, sunsets and relaxation. Went with my partner and was a bit dubious after reading the reviews but it turned out to be a wonderful holiday. The hotel was spotless and beautiful, with stunning sunsets which we watched every night and our seaview was amazing. The staff were very hardworking and friendly, Manuel and Nikos were extremely good at what they did, we had some very enjoyable evenings with a bit of greek dancing and singing.

The food was fine some days the combinations were a bit strange, but with a wide variety of nationalites stopping at the hotel it was understandable, plenty of salad and lovely fresh bread a mixture of pasta, rice, veg, potatoes and meats so there was always something to keep you going. It wasn't like some of the big hotels we have stayed in where there are snacks available all day but we never went hungry and never had anything bad. There is also a lovely greek restaurant called Mikes right on the main road in front of the hotel and that was fabulous and again Mike was a brilliant host.

The beach is pebbly but we managed to get in without beach shoes but they would be advisable, once your in it is sandy so not too bad. A few shops and restaurants on the main road and buses running very regular although they do get very cramped so be prepared!

Rhodes town is a must, and Kalithea beach is wonderful, plenty to do.

We would definitely recommend the hotel for couples or young families, teenagers may get a little bored of an evening, but for adults you could not fault it at all, very very relaxed and happy and wishing we were still there, many thanks to the owners and staff for a wonderful holiday x

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room the sunsets are stunning.

The hotel was spotless and clean, All the hotel staff were extremely friendly. The barman was always smiling and happy to help. The food.................. we all tried to like the food but we think it was catered more for the continental travellers. Why when you have such gorgeous tasty bread were we not allowed to have toast. The food became very repetative and boring, you never knew what you were eating because it was just placed in the hotplate trays, Usually only 1 ice cream flavour and so hard to get at, melon was generally on offer. Again why when you have such a beautiful country and fruit in abundance was there never fruit on offer. Oh sorry once we had oranges but were not quick enough to get one. This hotel although trying to be fully inclusive was not more like full board. Once breakfast was over at 9:30 nothing on offer until lunch time. From 2:30-5pm you could have coffee and biscuits after that the machine was covered over. Dinner finished at 9 so if you came in late on arrival you got nothing and was offered nothing. Any snacks had to be paid for as was the air contioning( 5euros a day, which when pointed out on a notice board was FREE, subsequently the notice was then removed. Although the hotel did try I think if you expect fully inclusive you will be disappointed,

just arrived back from this hotel and first impressions were ok....we will start with the aircon, i had a printed information sheet with me from Nirvana beach's website, it clearly says that air con its free during june-september......NOT IN MY CONTRACT SAYS THE BOSS....so i did ask the boss why does his website say so...he repeated NOT IN MY CONTRACT...so i paid the 30 euros.
the bedrooms are very small, but if you removed the comfy chair, stool and 2 rectangular tables(you sitll would have had a dressing table and 2 bedside tables) then you may have been able to swing a cat, the place is spotless, the staff are lovely.... THE FOOD...o my goodness, what ever you didnt eat for breakfast was served again for lunch hidden under parmasan cheese , then again in a pie for your evening meal... so yes we ate out but dundees's down the road make a wicked double cheese burger chips and a pint for 10 euros.... the beach rips the skin of your feet as it is more than singly is like climbing over a mountain of rocks not shingle. its a pretty quiet area but i like that so it suited me, lovely hols, but the food makes it difficult....

IoannisG, Owner at Nirvana Beach Hotel, responded to this review, 26 August 2011
I would like to thank the reviewer for her contribution and her feedback information and also to make use of the chance given in order to clarify a few things.
First, information presented at hotel's webpage and other commercial webpages, refers to costumers travelling as indivinduals and booking directly with hotel. In all other cases information might be subject to small and specific alterations determined by hotel and travel agency agreements and for which every costumer can be informed by the mediator agency prior to his booking.
As far as room dimensions and equipment are concerned, they totally meet the European Union and Greek Turism Organization criteria for hotel classifications.
For the comments refering to hotel's cuisine i should repeat that opinion on that matter is highly subjective, however hotel's administration make's use of all negative feedback opinions in order to offer the greatest satisfaction to the costumers. Ofcourse, disguising and reusing left over food is out of question and hotel would in no case adopt such a practice. Therefore permit me to say that it is wrong to see such an unthoughtful and offensive, false information to be expressed.
By ending my interference, i would like to say that the beach closest to the hotel is pebbled, as described in hotel's webpage and the only site that could be considered as rocky is that of the 30 feet long artificial wavebreaker, which is one of the plenty wavebeakers that exist along the entire northewest side of the island. However authorities in Greece generally recommend swimmers to always and in every beach, make use of the especially designed for the sea rubber shoes.
Thank you for your time,
Nirvana Hotel managing director.

Just got back from a week's stay at this hotel with my 15 year old daughter. Was initially very disappoined to arrive and be told the hotel was fully booked, we were driven to another hotel 2 mins away which was awful!! On arriving back at the Nirvana the next day, the hotel management couldn't do enough for us to make up for the inconvenience, we got a lovely large sea view room, air conditioning for free for the entire week, and many apologies. We found out that the overbooking of the hotel is not the owners fault but the tour company who do not advise the hotel of travellers until the morning of travel, hence overbooking is then too late to advise people who have already left on their journey.

As said in previous reviews, if you want a 5* luxury holiday then be prepared to pay double than what it costs to stay here. The hotel management only see a very small amount of what you pay to stay here, we heard 13 eurs per day per head.

Lovely rooms, very clean and spacious, small pool which made for a lovely holiday atmosphere, 2 mins to beach which is pebbly so sand shoes are a good idea, all staff were more than friendly and helpful. Food wasn't my cup of tea as both myself and my daughter are very fussy, but then I have stayed in 5* and not recommended the food so I am not a very good judge.

Bar stays open until you are finished for the evening, and if you chat up the barman, he will put on whatever music you like - great fun evenings.

All in all, this is a lovely family run hotel whose staff go out of their way to make your stay a relaxing and enjoyable one.

As a hotel the nirvana beach was lovely. The room was big with plenty of storage space, an excellent view from the balcony and a clean bathroom. The maids came every day, changing the bedclothes and leaving fresh towels.
However the pool was really small and the sunbeds were cramped in the small space surrounding it meaning you really were almost sitting on top of each other. This really didnt bother us as the beach is literally a two minute walk away and was almost empty (although a pair of sea shoes from a local shop is a good investment)!
While hotel would be ideal for self catering it is an all inclusive hotel and for this reason i would not stay here again! there was very little or no choice in the food. Although the hotel is small and family run i still expected a bit better than what we got. Breakfast consisted of cornflakes or musuli, cold boiled eggs, extremely soggy scambled eggs, mushrooms, greek yogurt or bread. While the bread was lovely the rest of the food was of a poor standard and not much choice if you dont like eggs.
Lunch and dinner were actually worse most of the week. There were only 5 hotplates and therefore that was the only choice you had and none of the food appeared to go at all! it was mainly lasagne or stews which i would have normally enjoyed had the food not been at such a poor standard. The boiled potatoes were still swimming in water in the tray while the rest of the food simply looked overcooked and dry. In addition the staff were extremely slow to refill any food and often the trays were left empty for long periods of time.
We had also read that there was to be snacks throughout the day with coffee and cake also in the afternoon. The snack bar was completely non exsistent and the only cake/snack providied was maderia cake between 14.00 and 15.00.
The hotel also had a serious lack of desert. Each day there was only 1 tub of ice cream so if you didnt like the flavour you had nothing and it was only available at lunch and at dinner and had to be eaten the restaurant. On my last day in the hotel they actually ran out of ice cream and while the woman did apologize it didnt really excuse the fact that an all inclusive hotel had ran out of their only desert.
In addition to the poor food was the drink. Half of the time we had to wait at the bar for up to 15minutes before a member of staff actually arrived and then they usually got the drinks wrong. There was very little choice with only four cocktails in the all inclusive which were poured from ready made jugs. There was no bottled water so you couldnt take a bottle of water to your room for throughout the night and your not allowed glasses to your rooms at all!!!
so basically if your looking for an all inclusive holiday dont stay here... we had to buy bottles of water and snacks and also ended up eating out for dinner everynight at Billys (a restaurant just across the road that i would thoroughly recommend)! Dont expect to get much from the hotel and you wont be to disappointed!

My daughter and I were looking for a 'cheap' all in break in the sun and I came across this little gem. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the whole place was spotlessly clean and the pool was great. Not a place for huge nightlife but we weren't looking for that. There are a few bars within easy walking distance if you want a little more 'life' in your evening. The food was basic, plenty of salads though and some terrific pasta dishes at lunchtimes. Rooms cleaned every day and towels changed. Fridge in room was useful. For what we paid it was good value. Again there are alternative places to eat if you want a change. The nearby beach was stony and not very inviting. Buses into Rhodes Town fairly frequent (if somewhat erratic!) from the end of the drive. Would recommend a trip into town to see the old city but in an evening when the heat has faded a bit.

Very windy most days but found this welcome. Plenty of places to sit in the shade when the sun gets too much. You do get the noise of aircraft taking off but it is amazing how quickly you get used to that (most people only commented on it when they went on strike for a day!).

As for the all inclusive it gets you beer, wine and soft drinks (not branded) which was fine with us. If you want free flowing spirits and cocktails then this is not the place for you. The happy hour is good though if you do fancy a cocktail treat at the end pf the day.

All in all we would love to stay at this hotel again, its not luxury but is very clean, relaxing and welcoming. Everything I want from a holiday really.

Having just returned on what we can possitively say, one of the best holidays weve had in twenty years.

If you are looking for a reasonably quiet family run hotel and enjoy the following, you will not be dissapointed. (In no particular order)

1) Probably the cleanest hotel weve stayed in.
2) The owners are only to happy to meet your needs and requirements
3) The service staff work like trojans, whilst maintaining a sunshine smile.
4) The cleaners maintain very high standards of cleanliness, ensuring rooms are spotless and towels and bedding changed regularly.
5) The 'cook and the kitchen staff ' serve quality cuisine with many home grown vegatables. Ensuring most nationalities have a taste from home.
6) Loation! Location! Location! about 15-20 minutes from the airport and about 35-40 minutes from Rhodes Town from where you can explore the whole Island via ferry, boat and coach.
7) Your 50 metres away from the quiet stoney and shingley beach, leather feet help! or maybe for you with softer soles, a pair of sand shoes are readily available for around 5-6 euros.
8) The swimming pool is of reasonable size, cleaned regularly and there are ample sun beds, if you get up early enough!.
9) Room accomodation is spotless of reasonable size, has a fridge and if you have a sea view all the better.
10) The sunsets are truly amazing.
11) Local ameneties are only a short stroll away, where you will find local supermarkets who stock everything you would need and few bars who offer varying cuisines and drinks.
12) This Hotel is squeezed so much by the tour operators on price per person per day, I really am amazed at how the owners are able to offer so much for so little. The price you are paying for your vacation at this lovely hotel is 'Budget class at Budget prices and what you actually get is far more. So please remember this. If you want lobster and champagne, I suggest you book 5* and pay 2 or 3 times as much.
13) Small, quaint hotel with a big heart unlike many large hotels with no soul.
14) Could go on and on and on about our lovely stay at this hotel, but what I will say 'We will definately be back next year'.

The only negatives are those people on trip advisor who's glasses are obviously half empty and try to spoil it for others. For what reason I havent got a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So all you people who's glasses are half full have a wonderful stay at this wonderful hotel.

Finally, a big thank you to the owners, staff and new friends for making our stay a most memorable one. Regards Neil and Mandy.

Room Tip: This hotel offers mainly Greek cuisine so if you are an steak and chips person you need to try greek...
