“Beautiful Villa, Open Gardens ,Very Authentic”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

This hotel is just 7 minutes cab from the city center and still you feel you are in the heart of tuscany , you feel you are staying in an ancient roman generals private villa or palace. Huge gardens, nice pool, good food. great service , a nice shuttle service to the city center. Great way to stay in florence if you want the best of both worlds to explore the city and live in an authentic tuscany experience.
The only fault is even the rooms were very well decorated its quite small and the website claims it is 30sqm their deluxe room but it is not even 20, so we felt a bit cheated nonetheless service is very good, their wifi is weak and was working on and off in our 3 days of stay. taking nothing away from the stay a great hotel.

Our family had a lovely stay at this resort on the outskirts of florence. The hotel is very artistically created, But we had some problem going to town for anything.
It is better for a family staying here to have your own car always. Anyway we managed some excellent tours from this hotel base to have some fantastic vineyard tours, and shopping tours at the various outlet malls.

Pro:
Very nice hotel around typical Italian villa. There are huge beautifull gardens around the place. Hotel have luxury face with very friendlly staff. Advantage is that is close to the main road so you can access it also with the bus.
Coin:
Hotel is out of Florence so you have to travel into center which is a bit complicated. Also even that they have spa in the name their is only outside swimming pool. We stayed in the place for 4 nights and every morning there wehre the same amount of food to choose from - it was fine, but something new whould be better.

Not the best base for exploring Florence. It is out of town and you have to either take an expensive taxi or book the night before both your there and return bus ride with the hotel, they are not flexible. Due to the remote location you are at the mercy of the hotels bar and restaurant, both really expensive. And the service (excluding the lovely bar guy) is icy. Make sure you wear your best clothes, my jeans and top were given an obvious look over by reception and deemed unsuitable judging from the sour look. You need money to burn and an arrogant attitude to fit in. The rooms are nice but really small. Not the honeymoon retreat we were hoping for.

We stayed for four nights, with two teenage girls in a classic and garden suite. The historic buildings are stunning, with fantastic grounds and authentic Italian décor throughout. Bathrooms are modern and rooms spacious. The pool area was never busy and had a good drinks service. Breakfast on the terrace was stunning, an amazing choice from continental to cooked and everything in between. Lunch and dinner were also excellent and service faultless.
Staff were always very helpful and friendly and the free transit to Florence was always on time and took us into the centre within 15 mins.
It was great to be able to tour Florence, Pisa and the area and then chill out round the pool in peaceful surroundings.
Guests were a mix of couples and families, and children were made very welcome, our two teenagers loved it, especially the garden bar in the evening, so pretty!
The only downside, if you want to stay in Florence for the evening, you will need to get a taxi back, but no more than 20 euros and plenty of taxi's around.
Overall, a true 5* experience, and would go back anytime of year.

Room Tip: Garden rooms lovely in summer and very near pool and restaurant. Some classic rooms near a road and...

We stayed at this beautiful resort for 4 nights two years ago and loved our stay, so we are going back in a few months. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the paintings throughout the hotel are breath taking.

We stayed at Villa Olmi during our honeymoon. We booked the cheapest bracket of room, but it was very spacious, with an extremely comfortable 4 poster bed (except for the pillows!). The rooms were well maintained, with towels etc. being changed multiple times per day. We were also given a bottle of bubbles on arrival to say congratulations!

The hotel is a 10 minute taxi-ride out of Florence, which cost us 12-14 Euros. The trip from the airport when we arrived cost 31 euros including surcharges for out of town, airport, and baggage. For the return trip to the airport, we got the free hotel shuttle bus into the city. The taxis from downtown to the airport are a fixed price of 20 Euros, though we paid 2 Euros extra for the baggage.

On every day except the last one, we took the bus into Florence in the morning (9, 10 or 11am, book in advance the night before), and took a taxi back late after eating dinner. The shuttle bus returns too early to be of any use if you want dinner in Florence, which is a shame.

On our last night, we had a dinner in the restaurant. The food was great, if a little expensive - though it's reasonable to pay for the convenience of not having to travel. However the service wasn't to such a high standard. We had to ask for a wine list (there is no wine in the main menu), then chase up the wine, and also chase up the bill.

The staff at the outdoor bar were extremely friendly and accommodating, and drinks service to the pool was quick.

All in all, a very enjoyable stay, great value for money, and we would stay again - but, a few small things could have made it 5* for us.

Pros:
- Shuttle bus to Florence in the morning - great! Drivers were both really nice.
- Rooms very spacious, clean, and serviced regularly.
- Pool and grounds also very clean and nice.
- Reception were great - they booked us a table at a local restaurant, and gave advice on places to visit.
- Free WiFi - it's amazing that some hotels in the UK (even the Savoy) try to charge you for this, when coffee shops can do it for free.

Cons:
- Shuttle bus in the evening - the last one was around 7pm, which is too early if you want to stay for dinner.
- If you want to order room service drinks or snacks, the booklet tells you to go to the bar and ask for the menu. After 7:30pm, the bar is outside in the garden, quite a walk from the room, and negating the point of ordering room service at all.
- At 16 Euros, the buffet breakfast was a little expensive, though I know that's common in hotels.

Thanks for an enjoyable holiday!
