My boyfriend and I stayed in one of Aurora's apartments for 4 nights in September. I agree with the other reviews that Aurora is the most wonderful hostess...she gave us privacy but was around when we needed her. It was my birthday during the trip and she left me a present and card on the last morning, with her delicious fig jam to take away. It is personal touches like these that make Casale Fontibucci somewhere I am sure we shall return to.

Also, the view is stunning...driving up towards to place for the first time I couldn't quite believe it! It would have been nice to have an outside area with a view from our apartment but we soon realised tha the kitchen catches the sunset in the evening and we could just sit with our glass of wine with the windows open and didn't miss it. The pool area we had virtually to ourselves. The gardens and surrounding areas were lush and well looked after.

We flew to Pisa and hired a car -I was suprised it only took about 1 hour 10 minutes to reach Fonbtibucci. We uploaded our own sat nav at home and would have been lost without it! Aurora is very helpful with directions and recommendations but we found it took the pressure off. In the evening if you want to go out for dinner you need to drive somewhere. Our favourite place was in Fiesole (took about 20-25 minutes), 'La Reggia'. It is up a pedestrian steep hill, behind the cathedral, with again beautiful views and food. However you have a big fridge in the apartment and a couple of days we just had lunch out and stayed in in the evening. It was so peaceful and we felt totally relaxed just doing nothing.

During the day we visited Greve in the Chianti region and of course, Florence. The park and ride is cheap and easy to get to. One thing...if you get bitten by mosquitos like I do take lots of repellant. This year was apparently particularly bad for them and I got fed on wherever we went in Tuscany!

So, if you want to stay in a real Italian home with wonderful hospitality, fantastic views, peace and quiet and a delicious breakfast this place is perfect.

Room Tip: There is no A/C which I worried about but we stayed in apartment Lilla during a hot September and found it fine night and day. It is on the ground floor and Aurora provides a fan. We didn't see any other homes in the area with A/C as they are all designed to be cool.

After choosing this location based on Trip Advisor reviews , everything was better than expected.
We found an old "casale" restored with good taste, surrounded by a blossomed and scented Mediterranean garden , all this ensemble situated in a marvellous location with a fantastic view , what do you want more ?
And the owner, Signora Aurora ? I mean anyone with some money can buy an old property and refurbish it, but you need talent and professionalism to be a host as good as she is.
The only regret we have is that we were too eager to visit everything around and we didn't allow ourselves to chill out a whole day near the pool in that heavenly garden.

We enjoyed the hospitality of Aurora for a week - and it was absolutely amazing. The setting on the hills outside Florence, the views, the facilities and pool, the breakfasts....all exceeded our expectations at an extremely reasonable cost.

Casale Fontibucci is truly above and beyond--above Florence and beyond everything else. We expected a lot because of the TripAdvisor reviews, but they paled in comparison to the place itself. Beautiful grounds, beautiful view, beautiful service--we loved it and our 9 year old daughter loved it, too. With Aurora as hostess, it's more like a visit to the estate of a warm cultured gentlewoman than a B&B. In fact, B&B comes nowhere near to describing this experience. Do it!

Room Tip: Limone suite was perfect.

We can't say enough about our stay at Casale Fontibucci. Aurora was a delight, great cook, and perfect hostess....giving us our privacy and yet available whenever we had a question as to where to go etc. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms spacious, clean, authentically decorated with Aurora's personal family heirlooms and yet conveniently up to date! Thank you, Aurora for a perfect start to our three week and five country trip.....definitely the best! We hope to return and soon!
