My husband and I spent Sunday night at the Kings Head hotel in Beccles. This was the first time we had stayed in a Wetherspoons hotel. Fantastic !!! The room must be almost, if not the best, hotel we have stayed in in the U.K. The climb up to, our room was a little daunting, but no pain no gain! The climb was well worth it. The towels were the thickest and heaviest I have ever seen. I'm not sure if my carpet is much thicker than those towels. Everything was just brilliant. Well, to be honest there was a problem with my bedside lamp. It was attached to the headboard and just kind of collapsed. When my husband looked at it, the wiring was a bit naughty, we have reported it and we were told that that room would not be used until the light had been made safe. The parking is a bit of a problem. Finding it proved to be an uphill challenge, but we managed to overcome it and we would definitely stay at the Kings Head again.

Room Tip: We had room 304 so we had quite a lot of steep stairs to climb. My advice would be to ask where the room you have been allocated is situated.

Room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Staff were polite and helpful. Room was very clean and bed comfortable. Remarkable value for money - this was much nicer than another hotel we stayed in in Norfolk called The Hoste which was 3 times more expensive.

Now the bad... unfortunately room 201 is directly above the bar and was very noisy until about 1.30 am on the night in question which made it difficult to sleep. This was a Saturday night and may be less of an issue on other days.

Then at about 5am was repeatedly woken by the security door directly outside the room slamming. Management should make this door soft closing. So although the hotel was very nice, it wasn't possible to get a good night's sleep in this room. Mentioned to staff on checkout who didnt dispute this was a problem with this room.

Hotel rating 4 or 5, Room 201 rating 2.

Would recommend the hotel, but would advise you not to stay in room 201 if you plan on sleeping in the room.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 201 if you want to sleep in the room

Great nights stay in a new room. Position in the centre of town was handy for walking everywhere.
Our room was a twin room up the top, so was quiet and comfortable. Reception staff helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Our twin room up the top wouldn't be recommended to people with mobility issues as there are quite a few stairs and different levels to get there.

We spent two nights in the hotel at an excellent rate.
On arrrival, reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was fresh, spacious with a very comfortable bed and the air conditioning an added bonus. The bathroom was large with fluffy towels and a good shower.
We did get a bit of early morning noise from the town square which our room overlooked, but this was avoided on day 2 by closing the window.
We didn't eat in the hotel, but had a few drinks inside and outside on the terrace. The drinks were good value. All the staff we encountered were pleasant, efficient and customer focused. We will certainly return to thie hotel.

Room Tip: Aviod rooms overlooking the otside terrace.

Our first time in a Wetherspoons hotel and if they are all like this we would use them again. We know Beccles well and used this hotel before Wetherspoon revamped it.The room is a good size and well equiped and with bottled waters as well as the usual tea/coffee.The bathroom was excellent with full sized bath and a walk in shower.towels were large and fluffy.
The bar and restaurant was busy and in school holidays full of families but it is a Wetherspoons so don`t expect anything else.Despite it being busy the bar staff served quickly and food came without too much delay.
The only downside is lack of parking.Advice to potential users is to ignore the sign saying parking is for hotel residents. We were told we could not park there despite a space being available. The receptionist and manager told us the sign was being changed. We are going to Beccles again in 2 months and will see if this has been done !
