We were on the same trip as the review below, attended for the wedding. Completely wonderful experience in terms of rooms, meals, price, surroundings and service,

Everyone in the hotel was welcoming, they do a breakfast in bed free of charge and they really look after you here. The rooms are elegant and match the castle build and there is a fantastic tour of the castle next door. As well as this, there was a Warhol exhibit on which was great luck.

This is really one of the nicest, friendliest and most comfortable hotels I've ever stayed in and would certainly come back here.

Room Tip: Get a lake view

This hotel was taken over by a group of us for a wedding. It is at the top of a hill, next door to hluboka castle. Some of us oldies were daunted by the steep climb to the hotel (the coach declined to drive up, so the hotel sent a minibus for us and our luggage. At the end of our trip, instead of a walk down to the bus, they sequestered the Noddy train that tours the area and passes the door to the hotel.

We had room 304 on the second floor, floor 1 is down from the lobby near the sports centre and tiny swimming pool. This is the largest room I have ever stayed in and it was a 'long walk' to the ensuite with double wash basins, bath and shower, and a separate large toilet with its own wash basin. The room looks similar to the avatar for the hotel and was clean, very light and with a comfortable, but firm, bed. Lots of wardrobe space, a large flat-screen TV, and dressing gowns plus slippers for the spa. The goodie bag of shoe-horn, clothes dust remover and a sewing kit were there in addition to a minibar.

The view from our window was quite magnificent across the green fields that went on forever, with an underused golf course and a lake 200 metres away. One problem for us was that the curtains were decorative but there were no shutters, but we were so tired from the walking in Prague that we did not notice the light. The location means minimal noise from outside.

Courteous and helpful staff both in the front desk and elsewhere simply added to the pleasures. Many of us were vegetarians and the hotel restaurant went to great lengths to ensure we were certain of what we ate being OK. Breakfasts were not in the same class as the extravagances of, say, the USA and Israel, but there was a large selection with a high degree of freshness. If you didn't like the machine coffee, the staff would make you one. Because the weather was good, we ate breakfast (buffet style) outside.

The purpose of our visit was a wedding that was to occur in the castle with the reception in a marquee at the hotel. However, the wedding had to be switched to the hotel because of insurance problems (over 80 guests) at the castle itself. The hotel responded superbly.

There is no Wi-Fi in the bedrooms but a free connection in the lobby and sitting rooms. And there is a problem with cigarette smoke, still permitted in Czech hotels and restaurants, although our bedroom was non-smoking. In the lounges, small candles burnt to remove the smell of tobacco.

We were there only for two nights, but the castle next door is an absolute must-see. Tours, in English, seemed to only once a day and the time varies. On the Sunday, our tour was scheduled to start at 11.21am (I kid you not). The tour guide was excellent and highly knowledgeable. We did not go down to the village (what goes down, must come up) but from the Noddy train it appeared that there was a good range of shops and eating places for a very small village.

I highly recommend a trip to this village, about 150km south of Prague and I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I am told that the hotel is not often totally full. In the unlikely event you don't like your room, simply tell reception.

We just returned home from a wonderful three nights at the Stekl Hotel. We had a large room, beautifully furnished and decorated which looked out across the central courtyard onto the fountain. The room service was excellent, and everything was spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was a banquet; a huge selection of hot and cold foods, and all fresh and attractively presented. I don't normally eat breakfast at home, but this was delicious. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, so we ate there twice during our visit. The staff were all friendly, helpful and very courteous.

Room Tip: We had room 322 which was lovely and quiet, and looked out onto the central courtyard.

We stayed in the hotel just for one night, but we really liked it. The hotel was clean, the room was big, the view from the window was great- lake. Food is good, staff are friendly.Secured garage. Not so modern wellness, but that s ok, everything was clean. We will be back for sure

Room Tip: we had 307, nice room, lake view from the window, bathtube in room

Originally married in New York, but we held asecond reception for our Czech family and friends at Hluboka and the Hotel Stekl. This is a beautiful hotel, well managed, first class accommodations and amenities and well maintaned. Additionally, the staff is quite professional, which really helped during our party.

The food is wonderful. Best svickova I've ever had! Everyone raved how nice everything was. Highly recommended!

It's also a lovely spot for a romantic weekend getaway or castle visit overnight.
