“lovely hotel with best view”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We stayed at the lithies for two nights. This is a very comfortable hotel, the rooms are very clean and tidy, and has a balcony facing the sea, can see the sunrise. The bar near the swimming pool is very relaxing. From the hotel to the light house which to join the blue cave and wreck Bay trip is not far away, bout a 20 minute walking, very convenient. If I go to zakinthos again,I will choose the hotel also.

We stayed at the Lithies Apartments for one week in June. From top to bottom this has been one of our best stays in years. Everything from the location, the views, the service, and the facilities we excellent. The people there we very friendly and helpful especially Matina. This hotel in our opinion has the best views of the island, and is away from the big crowds in the south. There are many excellent tavernas and restaurants within a 5-10 drive. The Blue Caves are a 10 walk out your back door. Nicholas Bay is a 5 minute drive. The hotel has a wonderful swimming pool with a nice bar for relaxing. The loungers are very comfortable there are plenty to go around. No fighting other guests for chairs here. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not even consider another hotel when we return in the future. 5 Stars for Lithies.

It was late arrival Lithies... Anyway the staff was still available, they show us our apartments and arranged a dinner in the bar that was really great! The territory of the hotel is lovely. Nice style!
Also there is a pool and extra baby-pool. My 2 years old sun loved that pool very much!

Lithies are located in north part of the island. Not so many people live there, and it was great for us. Blue caves are in walk distance (I think about 15-20 minutes). Also you good taverna is located not so far from apartments. It's worth to visit it especially prior to sunset.

If you decide to stay in Lithies, a car is a must to have in order to reach needed placed on the island.

Our apartments was quite good, clean. We were provided with baby-coat for free, that was a good bonus for us. There is big balcony where we had a breakfast. In general, everything was OK.

It would be great if owners upgraded to bath cabin instead of using curtain in bathroom (as for me). Also, please beware placing wet swim suite on wood chair (our suitcases get painted).

I highly recommend you to stay in Lithies especially if you have a car.

Thanks for all!

We have just spent the first 2 weeks in August at Lithies and we've had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

On arrival, we were greeted by Matina, Matina's mother and Tina who used our first names and immediately made us feel welcome. We were shown to our apartment which great: tasteful, modern, spacious, very clean with the most magnificent view imaginable (picture attached). We had a family room which had two balconies. Both overlooked the pool. Beyond was a strip of pretty countryside and then the sea with the island of Kefalonia looming in the distance. Having a family room meant that we had a large room with a kitchen area where the children slept and a separate, and very beatiful, main bedroom (picture attached). Both rooms had remote controlled air conditioning and remote controlled TVs. The bathroom was small but tasteful, although the shower had to be held by hand and would fluctuate from hot to cold at will - this somehow, just added to the character of the place!

The pool was clean and inviting. There were never that many people around the pool and quite often we were the only ones. It's a small hotel so there was never a fight for sunbeds. Everything is very laid-back and pleasant.

There's a bar by the pool which offers drinks and food. This is also where breakfast is served - a quite idyllic location. The breakfasts are fine although could have been more varied. However, for what we paid, you certainly could not complain. The selection of food at the bar, available throughout the day, was limited but their Greek salads were the best we ordered anywhere on the island.

The grounds were well-kept and very pretty: flowers, trees, grass, a wishing well and lots of pretty nooks and crannies. There was even an outdoor table tennis table which my two sons (13- and 16-year-olds) thought would be great. However, the table was strategically placed at the edge of a sharp drop where there were trees and vegetation below. Although it was quite safe, as there was a fence by the drop, it meant that unless you were a skilled table tennis player, the ball was quickly and irretrievably lost! Lithies is on a hillside so there are quite a lot of steps which didn't bother us at all, but could be an issue for some.

Lithies is very close to the Blue Caves which are worth a visit. We took a boat trip from the lighthouse area (about a 2 min drive from the apartments) which was great value for money. First, we were taken on a small boat to the caves. On the boat there was just our family and one other couple. The boat, with a very pleasant driver, stopped in one of the caves and we were able to have a swim inside. Then it took us back to the jetty where we transferred into a slightly bigger boat and picked up a few more passengers which took us to the beach with the shipwreck. This was good fun too. We were advised to do this trip about 9.30/10.00 in the morning to avoid the rush. This was good advice. By the time we left the shipwreck beach, huge boats stuffed full of tourists were arriving and suffocating the place.

Lithies is right at the top of the island and this is quite a remote location. It's about a 5 min drive to Aghios Nikolaos where there are 3 tavernas with very similar menus. The best of the 3 was the one right next to the sea, called 'La Storia'. However, as you drove beyond Aghios Nikolaos there were other tavernas dotted along the road. The best place we ate at was 'Nico's' which is about a 10 minute drive from Lithies, although 'Pilarnos' served the best swordfish - huge portions of fish! If you ventured further into Alykes or its neigbouring Alykanas (about 25 mins from Lithies) then you were spoilt for choice for tavernas - 'Vrisaki' in Alykanas was excellent. These two towns are busy tourist locations which are very geared up for tourists: lots of cheap yet fun souvenir shops, loads of tavernas, great beaches, supermarkets, and, best of all... cash points! Yes, this is the nearest place for cashpoints! If you go to Lithies, you DEFINITELY need a car!

From Lithies, you can visit the lighthouse area and the windmill area - both places are about a 2 minute drive from the apartments and are right on the coast. Each place has a taverna, both offered quite disappointing food. From the windmill area, there are steps down to the sea which is right where the blue caves are. We thought it would be good to snorkel around here which it was but, if you ventured nearer the caves, then there were just too many boats around to feel safe.

Bikes were freely available from Lithies which we had fully intended to use. However, the weather was so hot each day, the idea of cycling seemed tortuous so we never used them. In slightly cooler weather, I'm sure they'd be great. Although the weather was always hot, in the 30's each day, there was usually a gentle breeze too, so it never felt unbearable.

If I had to sum up the main strength of Lithies, I'd say it was the staff: all female, all friendly, all efficient. Matina's mother even gave us a bag of freshly collected sea-salt as a parting gift! The staff were as charming as the place.

Thank you Lithies!

We stayed at Lithies Studios for only a short time, but wish it had been longer.

The location and views are stunning, and the rooms are also amazing, very luxurious. We also managed to sleep without aircon as the breeze is also. The pool area is lovely, and Martina and her staff were attentive and professional.

Definately reccomended!!

Returned from Lithies on the 23rd July after a ten day stay. This was our third visit and will not be our last. The position of this hotel on the northern tip of the island is ideal for touring, peace and quiet. There are many tavernas, but a car is needed for most of them. Every year we have found different ones and have yet to have a bad meal. This year our favourite was Nikos by the Sea.
Within 10/15 mins drive there is Askos Stone Park where you will find animals in their own environment. The raccoons were amazing as were the deer. Was worth paying €8.50 to see these.
Julia, Matina, Tina and the always smiling Yiota cannot do enough for you to make your stay enjoyable and special.
See you all next year xxx

We had a great 3 nights at this hotel, right at the northern tip of Zakynthos (away from the British hoards in the South). Our room was one of the cheaper 80euro a night ones - simple but comfortable with a fantastic sea view. The large balcony was particularly appreciated.

The pool was fantastic and there were always plenty of sunloungers to relax on. The pool bar was also really good - many an evening ouzo was had whilst spotting the stars! My favourite bit about this hotel though were the owners, such a friendly bunch!
