“Idyllic, quality and spacious accomodation at peacetful and beautiful location.”
Reviewed 10 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

A very smart and professionally done barn conversion with large rooms and plenty of accommodation. Very well kept building, courtyard and gardens. Super views down the valleys and over the hills. Much detail in facilities, all mod-cons and supplies of kitchen ware, utensils and even games etc, as well as plenty of local information supplied, along with very courteous, friendly and non-intrusive service and support form the owners as needed. Central for many Dordogne attractions. Highly recommended!

We had such a wonderful time staying at this Barn. The place is great and the owners are very friendly. The spot is also perfectly located if you want to visit things like castles and such. I very strongly recommand people to go there !

“Wonderfully tranquil yet within easy reach of amenities & sights”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Our stay at Matthew and Susie's gite was pure delight. The accommodation is a beautifully converted "barn" with lovely, spacious living spaces, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, very well equipped kitchen and all the comforts of home. The peaceful location, the resounding quiet, the warm, clean, fragrant summer air and the dark night-sky, covered with stars one normally never sees, conspire to make one wish to stay forever.

The incredible thing is that you can have this quality of peace and quiet and still be only 20 minutes away from the Dordogne River with its châteaux, its breath-taking gardens, the scenic boat rides etc. Restaurants are close-by as are speciality shops (for the truffle and fois-gras lovers) and other shops for day to day things.

Sarlat, a medieval town nearby, is very well preserved and is "one of the towns most representative of 14th century France". The centre of the old town is a feast for the eyes and easy on the legs with many places to sit, have a coffee or cold drink, while absorbing the atmosphere.

Belvès, also nearby, has been designated as one of the prettiest towns in France.

In fact, there is so much to see that we felt cheated at not having had enough time to just enjoy staying at "home", at the gite.

Matthew and Susie are very warm, friendly and ready to help with every request. The photo album showing their labours, in converting a derelict property into the lovely abode it is now, is fascinating and makes one appreciate the result even more.

Sitting outside on our last evening, glass of wine in hand, seeing the potted red geranium against the rich green of the meadow touched by the late afternoon sun, had us logging onto the Internet in a desperate attempt to reschedule our flights home. Not possible, alas.... but no matter because we will try our hardest to return as soon as possible.

“A perfect Easter break”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

What a wonderful place - Matthew and Susie are such delightful people - welcoming and full of great advice on the environs - we very much enjoyed the castles, super local restaurant, canoeing, a cave visit, and all the wonderful scenery - we went for local nature walks and spotted green woodpeckers and two hoopoes. The grange - a converted barn - was great for our family group - good for socialising all together, but also with space to sit in smaller groups, relax and read. We played lots of games on the big lawn, ate out in the courtyard area and had evening drinks with the sunset. The large outdoor space was fantastic for the children. Some of us went by Eurostar+TGV which went well, and others by plane from Stansted - we picked up hire cars in Bordeaux/Bergerac. We are already talking about when we can go back again.

“A perfect Dordogne holiday”
Reviewed 25 September 2013 for a stay in October 2012

La Grange is a tastefully converted barn and a wonderfully relaxing place to stay in a remarkable location. The friendly owners Matthew and Susie have a fantastic knowledge of the region. We ate out at some exceptionally good French restaurants they recommended which were surprisingly cheap and the local wines and cheeses are outstanding. We flew from the UK to Bergerac and can certainly recommend exploring the region by car – it was fascinating with a wide choice of markets, chateaux and caves to visit. Try to allow time for hot-air ballooning too!
