Firstly, Jenny and Sean are an absolute delight to deal with and they really did bend over backwards to make our stay a memorable one. They have been working hard on the renovation of this beautiful property but it is still a work in progress. However, for value and location it is an absolute bargain and has real character. Both Jenny and Sean were in Belves when we arrived and on hand to offer advice and suggestions relating to day trips, restaurants and much more.
Three out of the four rooms have exceptional views looking out over the valley, and the raised outdoor seating area is perfect for lazy breakfasts and evening entertaining. Once again, the views will just keep you there.
The house is next door to a fantastic pizzeria and the local boulangerie is only 30 seconds around the corner, as are a couple of restaurants. Belves is a stunning town and easily as beautiful as the larger and busier Sarlat. Many people in our group preferred this location due to the laid back feeling of the place.
You are still in the thick of things in the Dordogne and not far away from the rivers for kayaking and swimming, and beautiful gardens and chateaus. There is so much to do within half an hour that you are spoilt for choice. I highly recommend a visit to Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, Beynac et Cazenac and Chateau des Milandes, but you really have so many options.
