Lovely Stay with out Gate 1 travel tour.-- I love unusual places to stay and these cottages were very nice with a thermal pool right outside of every room plus larger pools on the property. Wished we would have had time to hike the trails. We had a nice massage at the spa and the food was good. The staff were very sweet and helpful. I would love to come back for a longer stay.

We spent the weekend in Papallacta between two weeks of business travel. It was a great time to rest and rejuvenate. On Saturday morning we hiked up the trail by the public pools. The guy at the bottom of the hill said we needed a guide if we went farther than a mile or so but we stuck to the road and kept on for about 1.5 hours. We came to a ranger station and a bath to a series of beautiful mountain lakes. After a cold dip, we returned down the mountain. 4.5 hours round trip . To recover I got an hour long massage $48 and sat in the springs under a refreshing rain.

We were in a group and ate all of our meals there. The accommodations in the rooms were a bit more rustic than the 4 star hotels we had for the rest of the trip but the springs more than made up for it. The room was a bit cold and the bed was quite firm . ( there was a space heater and an extra comforter). Also, we forgot about sunscreen ( thin air plus clouds reflecting uv rays = peeling). All in all it was a great and refreshing stay.

This is a cottage type hotel with rooms connected facing hot soothing thermal spring water pools, just steps away from the rooms, very romantic & beautiful. The rooms were big with a big bathroom, nice shower & tub, small mirror, hairdryer, good lighting. The beds were very comfortable and we also had a bunk bed in the room. The décor in the restaurant was basic but the food was good and very creative chefs, carving the fruits for decoration on the buffet table. Breakfast and dinner were both good. Wi-Fi in the lobby was good as well. The staff everywhere was very polite, pleasant & helpful. As you are on high altitude drink plenty of water. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room facing hot soothing thermal spring water pools so that access is easier & quicker

We stayed at the Termas de Papallacta on a Gate 1 tour of Ecuador. It has a rustic feel, with cabins and wooden walkways. Many of the people in our group enjoyed the hot springs which were just outside the rooms. They are very shallow, though, so don't expect them to be like your backyard hot tub. My son enjoyed a hike to a nearby river. I wasn't feeling well, so I rested in the room and can't comment too much on the amenities. The room was clean and comfortable, although I imagine it can get pretty noisy due to the boardwalks and springs outside. Fortunately the people in our group were tired and did not stay up late to party. The location was very scenic and enjoyable and the included meal was fine. We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely resort. Hot springs at the spa are SO relaxing even when it's raining - Just remember to take your shoes to the poolside.

Delicious fruit drinks in the cafe

We've been here 3 times but always for a stop off en route for the Amazon, never to stay. One day would like to stay longer as here are trails to trek in the surrounding countryside and the hotel looks so very warm and inviting.

Lovely resort, with private beautifully-tiled hot spring pools right outside your room door. A late night and early morning soak was wonderful. Rooms were clean and attractive. Bathrooms were clean. Wonderful view of the mountains and the river. There was a spa where you could receive treatments and a nice hike up the mountain. We were given wristbands for admission to the public spring pools a short walk up the hill, which were great, but you can't beat lolling around in your private pools. The restaurant was very good with attentive waitstaff. The only thing I didn't like (and it was very minor and didn't detract from my stay) was the guard dog that barked several times at night.
