Papallacta is by far the best place in Ecuador for warm, clean and relaxing thermal baths. The installations are clean, well maintained and the pools are wonderful. Also, when you stay at the hotel, there are smaller 'private' pools outside of the hotelrooms that you can use all day (and night). The hotel, rooms, food and service are nothing special and don't expect too much of it. For that matter, Papallacta is way overpriced. But there is simply no comparable option for thermal baths in Ecuador

Room Tip: If possible, choose one of the modern rooms (stone buildings) , not the older wooden ones.

After a long day of driving through difficult terrain and construction… this tranquil and beautiful oasis in the crater of a dormant volcano is amazing. Every cabin has a private hot thermal spring to melt away the stress!

The resort offers thermal pools of varying degrees right outside your room. Although not very deep they are wonderful to relax in and reflect on the day. They have a spa experience which consists of larger and deeper pools along with private hot steam rooms and messages. The food was okay and staff were for the most part friendly. The rooms are more than adequate, clean and with the floors heated by the thermal waters. Not much to do but enjoy the experience.

Lovely Stay with out Gate 1 travel tour.-- I love unusual places to stay and these cottages were very nice with a thermal pool right outside of every room plus larger pools on the property. Wished we would have had time to hike the trails. We had a nice massage at the spa and the food was good. The staff were very sweet and helpful. I would love to come back for a longer stay.

We spent the weekend in Papallacta between two weeks of business travel. It was a great time to rest and rejuvenate. On Saturday morning we hiked up the trail by the public pools. The guy at the bottom of the hill said we needed a guide if we went farther than a mile or so but we stuck to the road and kept on for about 1.5 hours. We came to a ranger station and a bath to a series of beautiful mountain lakes. After a cold dip, we returned down the mountain. 4.5 hours round trip . To recover I got an hour long massage $48 and sat in the springs under a refreshing rain.

We were in a group and ate all of our meals there. The accommodations in the rooms were a bit more rustic than the 4 star hotels we had for the rest of the trip but the springs more than made up for it. The room was a bit cold and the bed was quite firm . ( there was a space heater and an extra comforter). Also, we forgot about sunscreen ( thin air plus clouds reflecting uv rays = peeling). All in all it was a great and refreshing stay.

This is a cottage type hotel with rooms connected facing hot soothing thermal spring water pools, just steps away from the rooms, very romantic & beautiful. The rooms were big with a big bathroom, nice shower & tub, small mirror, hairdryer, good lighting. The beds were very comfortable and we also had a bunk bed in the room. The décor in the restaurant was basic but the food was good and very creative chefs, carving the fruits for decoration on the buffet table. Breakfast and dinner were both good. Wi-Fi in the lobby was good as well. The staff everywhere was very polite, pleasant & helpful. As you are on high altitude drink plenty of water. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room facing hot soothing thermal spring water pools so that access is easier & quicker
