“Ticks all the boxes”
Reviewed 2 January 2009 for a stay in July 2008

We have been renting quality holiday apartments for 30 years and Casal dei Fichi is the best yet. As you turn off the road to drive down to the house, the views of rolling countryside are stunning. Ian and Bob are excellent hosts who thoughfully provide a food and drink "welcome pack" and pizza nights!
Casal dei Fichi is very well placed for the sea, countryside and mountains - or you can just laze by the pool with the real hosts: Hatty, Balzo and the kittens!
We have already booked for next year.

“Olive Weekend”
Reviewed 2 January 2009 for a stay in November 2008

I spent a wonderful holiday at Casal dei Fichi during the second Olive Weekend organized in November 2008. Everything was perfectly arranged to make our holiday as good as possible. This time of the year still offers mild temperatures and magic colours in the landscape.
The Casale is set in the middle of a beautiful and peaceful valley, covered with olive trees and, in summer, with bright sunflowers. the Casale consists of six luxurious apartments, fully equipped with all the comforts. The rooms are big and bright, with a full view on the marvellous hilly landscape, typical of this part of Le Marche. The atmosphere is cosy and familiar thanks to the kindness of the two owners, Bob and Ian, who are always ready and happy to help you to feel comfortable. Although I could not use it in the middle of November, there is a beautiful pool where to refresh during hot summer days.
I would reccomend this Casale to anyone visiting this part of the region, both for a short holiday and for a longer staying, to take a perfect break and enjoy the beauties of this region at its best!

“Relax”

If you like your peace and tranquility in a stunning location , look no further . Forget about popping out to the shops , you will need a car to enjoy the best of this location which is better than Tuscany - Or slob by the pool and enjoy the special views with a few bottles of wine .The locals are still friendly and welcoming . Your Euro will last longer. The hosts are not too bad either and their wide range of contacts locally mean you have access to some superb restaurants in real old Italian style

The olive oil produced from the trees in the garden is exceptional , They have the space for a vineyard so I do hope they produce some Fichi Rosso in the near future

We stayed at the Casa with a group of friends on a special
ocassion and it was special - we will be back

“Olive Discovery Weekend”
Reviewed 20 November 2008 for a stay in November 2008

Actually a bit of a misnomer, as this was a gourmet weekend covering all apsects of Italian food and wine (including cooking your own at the quirky Arts Club) in an unspoilt corner of Italy. Picking olives on the estate and taking them to local press was definitely the highlight of the weekend though.

Hosts Bob & Ian were great fun and it felt like being on a farm with all the dogs and cats (chickens and other livestock also coming soon!!) A great break for singles as the supplement is very reasonable and you are guaranteed like-minded fellow guests with whom to share the experience.

Will definitely go back in the summer to enjoy the pool, the veg garden and the outdoor wood burning oven.

If you want amazing views, fantastic hospitality, great weather, peace and quiet all in your own very well appointed home away from home in a stunning tranquil setting - GO. You will love it. We went with our two small children in mid October and between trips to the beach, the mountains and the plethora of medieval hilltop towns, spent everyday in the pool. If you want the extra bedroom the interlinking apartments Rafaello and Rossini are perfect. Trying hard to think of a fault but can't. It really is the most relaxing, laid back holiday I have ever had - made even better by the fact Ian and Bob do not have a blackberry charger!

“Wonderful apartments in a stunning location”
Reviewed 24 October 2008 for a stay in September 2008

This region of Italy is simply breathtaking, filled with scenic views of unspoilt hilly countryside undulating between the valleys of several rivers that flow from the majestic Sibillini mountains to the Adriatic coast. The hilltops are dotted with plenty of small and a few larger towns, each with its own attractions - fantastic restaurants tucked away down sleepy side streets, impressive churches and important religious sites, markets offering the finest local produce, glorious beaches - and our week's visit only scratched the surface of all there is to see and do. Like other reviewers, we see ourselves coming back to further explore this remarkable region. Tourism in Marche really is in its infancy; the roads are quiet and it is easy to get around, and you will only find groups of tourists in a few of the more famous locations (for instance, the basilica in Loreto).

The apartments themselves are a perfect mix of luxury and home comfort. The attention to detail is evident throughout, from the original wooden beams below the ceiling, through the working fireplaces, to the fully equipped kitchen complete with a bottle of local olive oil. Each has its own little garden area around the property (great for al fresco dining), and there is a good outdoor heated swimming pool - although it was a little chilly at the end of September!

What really made the holiday special though was the warmth and hospitality of our hosts. Ian and Bob don't simply rent out their appartments; they were on hand to give information and advice, draw personalised maps of town centres, accompany us to their favourite restaurant and, if all that wasn't enough, hold a splendid DIY pizza evening (yes, you roll your own, create your own topping, then bake it in their very own outdoor wood fired pizza oven!). They made sure the kitchen cupboards were stocked with some basic items before our arrival (invaluable for us as we had our nine month old daughter with us, who I suspect wouldn't have appreciated a trip to the supermarket after the flight from London!), and even allowed me to use their laptop and internet connection to check in online for the return journey.

As I just mentioned, we travelled with our baby daughter in tow; wherever we visited, we were greeted with warm affection and cries of "bella bambino!". A cot was provided in the appartment, which meant we didn't have the encumbrance of our travel cot.

I would very much recommend Casa dei Fichi to anyone wanting to see the real Italy from a convenient and very comfortable base. There is plenty to do, but the pace of life in this region is a lot slower (nearly all shops close for a few hours at lunch), so you can just relax into the local routine instead.
