“A gem of a place in Le Marche...”
Reviewed 27 July 2009 for a stay in July 2009

Very often these days, and especially in connection to holiday travel, what is described and promised, usually in the superlative degree turns out to be at the least a disappointment, at the most a veritable nightmare. Fortunately enough our 1 week stay at Casal dei Fichi belongs to that special group of “exceptions to the rule”. The photos and descriptions in their website indeed reflect a true picture of what this place has to offer.
If there is a classification called “boutique farmhouse”, this exquisitely restored “barn” without a doubt fits this category, (and some)! If you have the following requirements in your holiday list: small (or the opposite of large, commercialized establishments), personal attention to detail, serene, tasteful without being ostentatious, clean, beautiful surroundings with beaches, mountains and medieval towns within reach, then I would warmly recommend a stay at Casal dei Fichi. Add to that being able to pick your lunch from the garden, Baltzo and Hattie (2 lovely dogs) who adopted us for the week and our helpful, knowledgeable and hardworking hosts Bob and Ian….you definitely can´t go wrong! Like so many other guests, we can hardly wait to go back.

“Peace and tranquillity in a beautiful part of Italy”
Reviewed 27 July 2009 for a stay in July 2009

Our third trip to Casal dei Fichi and it gets better every year.

A delightful apartment with a well appointed kitchen and an amply stocked vegetable garden meant we could cook and eat in our private garden area most evenings and enjoy the spectacular views and peaceful surroundings. And there's nothing better for breakfast than a fig picked from a tree in the garden

The countryside is beautiful and perfect for cycling with quiet roads and a variety of rides taking in tough climbs and rolling countryside. A trip to the Sibillini Mountains is not to be missed.

Bob and Ian are the perfect hosts and with 2 dogs, cats and a rabbit, it really is a home from home

We'll be back next year, if there is room.

“Do I really want to tell everyone about this hidden gem?”
Reviewed 20 July 2009 for a stay in June 2009

Wow is all I can say.
We stayed at Casal dei Fichi in mid June, and it was the perfect itme to visit.
This was the most wonderful holiday we have been on together, very romantic and relaxing.
Bob and Ian are fantastic and really made us feel at home, keeping their distance if you need it, but also being incredibly helpful and hospitable.
We did not have a car for this holiday, however, our hosts catered for all of our needs and gave us lots of local information. Ideally, a car would make this holiday great, but it is not needed.
The area is beautiful. The apartments are absolutely lovely and had everything we needed including the local olive oil.
It was such a treat to be able to pick from the vegetable garden, and Balzo & Hatty made us feel extremely welcome and at home!
This is the perfect holiday if you are looking for culture, romance and to relax.
We will DEFINITELY be returning!

“'A room with the Views!!'”
Reviewed 19 July 2009 for a stay in June 2009

An amazing place. The views are fabulous from every direction and every time you look you see something new and fascinating. The apartments are really spacious, spotlessly clean and really well equipped, a real home from home. Ian & Bob are fantastic hosts and always there to offer advice if needed. The pizza night was great fun and resting in the pool looking over the countryside is so peaceful and tranquil - a really relaxing place. There are lovely villages to visit and the mountains offered some fabulous walks too, an ideal location to explore from. We are sure we will return

“This is as good as it gets”
Reviewed 19 July 2009 for a stay in July 2009

Le Marche is one of those best kept Italian secrets. Location is superb and very easy to reach by car. The property itself has been very thoughtfully restored, with just about everything you need for your stay, whatever time of year. The ability to pick your own salad and vegetables from Bob and Ian's garden is a real bonus for self caterers. The Monday evening DIY pizza party is a superb idea and a real ice breaker, and can turn a stay into a bit of a house party as well as a holiday. Their dogs also top and tail the family atmosphere.

The pool is wonderfully warm and boasts superb views of the surrounding landscape. Where else can you see rolling fields and hills and four towns perched on hills in one view? Bob and Ian's recommendations for eating out are also spot on, but food from wherever you get it is reasonably priced and good.

This is the only place to which we are likely to return. A week is just not enough to soak up the area and discover its other hidden treasures. Bob and Ian's natural ability to make one welcome and at ease is another very strong factor. Go-you'll love it.

“Italian Paradise”
Reviewed 18 July 2009 for a stay in July 2009

An Italian Farmhouse converted into six high standard luxury apartments each with its own garden area. Magnificent panoramic views. Also a solar heated swimming pool. Help yourself to the garden produce and pick figs from the trees. Every Monday evening
Bob & Ian entertain guests and locals with their Pizza evening, where everyone can have a go at making them which was great fun. A car is also recomended to explore surrounding areas.

“Great Fun in The Pool :]”

We went at half term in May so there were a few other children to play with in the pool. On our first night i was tired from traveling but i really enjoyed the pizza party. We made and cooked our own pizza's. They were delicious(: The rooms were cool, spacious and comfortable. We went to the beach a couple of times and visited some loacal villages. Whilst we were there some palm trees arrived and we watched the work men & Bob planting them. :] It was good fun playing with the cats and dogs. Thanks again Ian and Bob we hope to return again some time as we had such a lovely relaxing holiday. :) PS. Even my little brother, who never notices thing much, commented on the lovely view. :)
