Quality Hotel du Golf Montpellier Juvignac

Reasonably priced, but location is pretty ordinary (20 min drive into Montpellier) unless you like golf. The girls on reception didn't give us a single smile, but the restaurant service was friendly. Breakfast is average to good, but expensive at €12 per guest. The pool is small, but has a pleasant view over the golf course (and tower blocks on the horizon!).

An unexpected break down on the AutoRoute, coupled with a huge convention in Montpellier with no other rooms available is how we arrived at the Montpellier resort in the suburb of Juvignac. Our car would be ready the next day so we skipped getting a rental car for the 2 hour drive back home and elected to just make a go of it overnight in this 3 star resort-hotel. Very non-descript hotel (looks like a Holiday Inn Express) on the edge of an upscale residential neighborhood and it’s a bit difficult to find without GPS. There are no services nearby to speak of—access to a car is a must. The golf course is stunning with beautiful views across the green to the city beyond and it appears to be immaculately maintained.
We had to pay €160 for a suite, the only room available. While the 2 room suite was spacious and had quality furnishings, the throw rug in the lounge was stained and the cream colored couch had several large stains on it. The paint on the walls was scuffed and the showerhead was of the absolute cheapest quality. No lotion in the bathroom (wife a bit upset at that) no coffee service in the room (this affected both of us). There was no room service menu in the room, no menus to local restaurants, no Pages Jeune (yellow pages), nothing telling us what the resort has to offer. Not even a folder with information on restaurant hours, the health club, etc. Since this was an unexpected stay, we had no overnight provisions: clothes, toiletries, etc. Since this was an upscale facility, we were sure they would furnish complimentary toiletries for guests that had lost their luggage or people in our situation. The front desk said they had nothing but disposable razors. No toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant—none of the basics. Not even a well-hidden vending machine to offer these items or just drinks and snacks. The 12€ breakfast was barely adequate and the dining room had dirty stained carpeting and scuff marks on all the walls. Most of the interior hallways had dirty, worn carpeting. The restaurant looked very nice and had wonderful views but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment. I imagine the resort was quite nice in the 90’s after it was built but it definitely has that ‘dated’ feel and the staff appeared not that interested in you. We were kept up all night by the kitchen staff whose outdoor break area was directly beneath our window. Very loud laughing and shouting about every hour or so.
The clientele appeared to be older retired golfers and single male business travelers so maybe it fit that demographic fine, but it’s definitely not something you’d expect of a place beiilng itself as a 3 star’ resort.’ I’d have to agree with most of the previous reviews; unless you’re an avid golfer and don’t mind being a considerable distance from centre ville and plan on paying a premium for all of your meals and snacks served by the hotel, there are much better deals to be found in Montpellier.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over the golf course. Avoid rooms over the parking lot as your fellow travelers can...

The Golf Hotel de Fontcaude is a large hotel at the Juvignac golf course near the N109 highway. The hotel itself is nothing to get excited about. The rooms are basically OK and have a view on the golf course or face of the parking lot in front of the hotel.

The swimming pool is overlooking the course, it is small and not practical for any swimming. Bar and terrace also overlook the golf course.

We stayed for one night got a special rate, 31 Euro without breakfast. We had a room with private bathroom, room and bathroom were clean, and the window could be opened. Staffs are friendly and correct.

The Golf Hotel is located out of town in a quiet neighbourhood at the edge of the countryside. Parking was easy and free. The Golf Hotel de Fontcaude is only practical if you have a car as it is quite a distance to Montpellier centre.

The hotel itself is nothing to get excited about. The rooms were basically just OK.

The bars and terraces look out over the golf course - which is great if you're an enthusiast like me! The course itself was very enjoyable however.

The pool was a bit small - but also overlooking the course.

We stayed here looking for a couple of days of golf in the sunshine and we got a fantastic rate, they upgraded us to a suite for the price of a room as one of the rugby world cup teams was staying (great experience!). The golf was fantastic, we played as much as we liked, the food and the service was excellent and a special mention for the new clubhouse which has a great atmosphere and is a good alternative to the classical french cuisine restaurant upstairs. Would recommend having a car as Montpellier is known for its stunning architecture, beaches and historic mountain-top villages. We visited St-Guilhem-Le-Désert which is beautiful

My tip, get in touch with them directly and they will look after you.

We just returned from the South of France, where we stayed at the Golf-Hotel de Fontcaude, just outside Montpellier. We had a fantastic time and for anyone who doesn't like staying in city centres, it's the ideal solution for Montpellier (the drive into the centre takes a mere 10-15 min). The rooms are very clean and well looked after, and the general service in the hotel is definitely above average. Start chatting to barman Paul and within minutes you feel the place is your home (ask him for his homemade olives!). The restaurant is excellent and after trying other restaurants in the region, we decided the food at Fontcaude was as good, if not better than what we'd tasted elsewhere. I'd highly recommend it to anyone - golfer or nongolfer - who is looking for a place to stay in the area. Just a quick note to the golfers: We played Massane, La Grande Motte, Cap d'Agde and Fontcaude, and thought the Fontcaude course was the best out of all of them. We were there for a week and also visited quite a few tourist destinations the region has to offer (Cirque de Navacelles, St. Guilhem, Camargue, Sete) and the hotel proved a superb starting point for day trips to the region. All in all an extremely successful holiday and I hope many more people will find and appreciate it. It's one of those places that's special and deserves to do well.
