“An experience we will not forget.”
Reviewed 13 August 2013

We stayed two nights in this hotel restaurant. It is PARADISE.
We will always stay here when we are in the region.
It isn't often that a feel good experience lasts after moving on to new places, but this is how we are with this hotel.

Where do I find the words to discribe this culinairy miracle?
All was perfect. Vincent and Anne made us feel at home straight away. We decided to stay overnight which felt perfect after enjoying a marvelous diner. Vincent surprised us over and over again with his adventurous and creative combinations. Anne made sure nothing was missing at our table and served perfect wines with the food. No idea how they do it but their are no sounds of pots and pans in the kitchen, no smells or sounds from the stoves, no kids calling for their mum (they have 2 kids) and Vincent found the time to explain what he'd created and to answer our questions while he had 11 'couverts' to look after. All went calm, smooth and peaceful and when we asked to see that sacred place where it all happened Vincent showed us a kitchen spic & span.
The lovely spacious room upstairs with view on the garden was a perfect ending of the evening and perfect beginning of the next day.

I took my group of ten to this incredible restaurant for lunch in October, and we were blown away by the precision of Vincent Lucas's cooking. His ability to combine ingredients and create perfectly balanced, beautifully presented dishes was extraordinary. For Australians, it was surreal to be served a generous slab of home-made foie gras terrine for entree - and then later on, a foi gras & quince bon bon for dessert as well! Once again, something only a truly skilled chef can make a success. Vincent's wife Anne makes the ideal host in the dining room, choosing wines by the glass to complement each course, and offering helpful explanations of each dish. For most people in my group, this day at L'Etincelles was the highlight of their week in the Dordogne. It's a little off-the-beaten-track, but well worth seeking out. And stay overnight if you can't be bothered with a drive afterwards!

Room Tip: We didn't stay overnight, but the house looks charming, and very peaceful.
