It really is well worth the visit, not only is it a very beautiful place to wander around, it has a very authentic feel..I spent around 3 hours here, but if was not so hot, I could easily have relaxed a little more and spent longer.

Be sure to get there in the morning and catch the prayer sessions.

To get there, I took the bus from the bus station beside the river, across from the east train station, if you search the web there is a website with a photo of the bus you need to catch.

I grew up in this city and my family visited this temple at least a few times every year on traditional holidays. It is the birthplace of Buddhism in Southern China. The temple has been renovated and restored to its historical appearances. It is a great place to learn about the history and philosophy of Buddhism. Each building is an art piece and has its own styles and stories. If you pay attention to the fine details, you will learn a lot about different symbols and stories. Also the temple itself represents a balance of nature and human beings. Beautiful creeks, green bamboo forest

This temple is one of the important and historical Buddhist temple in Guang Dong. Since it keep the original relic of the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism. Have to paid for entrance fee but it's not expensive. The temple close after 6pm. A vegetarian restaurant and some souvenir shops also available around the temple.
Located at Shao Guan, a city located at north of Guang Dong Province. Reachable from Guang Zhou by trains or buses.
My trip there start from Guangzhou South Bus station. The buses from there to Shao Guan run twice a day, first at 9am and the second at 2pm. The trip is about 2.5 to 3 hours. Take the route Guangzhou - Nan Xiong/Shao Guan will pass this temple.
