“Great place, great hosts.”
Reviewed 13 June 2011

This was a great place to stay. the location was perfect and the rooms were clean. It included a wonderful breakfast that was prepared by Francesca and her mom. They sold the homemade jams and small ceramic pieces that they made and it was a perfect souvenir to take home. They were very gracious and gave the place a personal touch. We will go back again!

Everything was wonderful. Calm and spacious, yet only a few minutes drive from Siena. The Agriturismo appeared farther from Siena when booking, but in reality it was very close. Had a few doubts about finding the place when the road turned from pavement to gravel, but that is THE road between Radi and Siena. The host Francesca was very welcoming, very helpful in getting us settled in the room. The room was perfect, exactly what we were looking for with a well-equipped kitchen, a private bedroom for us, and a loft above the living room for the third guest. Each room also had a table outside on the lawn, perfect for the afternoon cup of tea. There was another covered common area with a couple tables and a grill that would be good for larger families or groups. They recommended an outstanding restaurant in Siena for dinner, it was hands down one of the best Tuscan meals we have had. The breakfast was very good with an ample selection of meats, cheeses, breads, and beverages. Overall, it was the perfect combination of country environment and proximity to Siena, could not have been happier with our stay.

What a beautiful place! The location is fabulous (10 min. from Siena), the rooms were amazing, clean and comfortable, and breakfast is a surprise every day with a new cake, fresh bread, home made marmalade, good strong coffee, what else can you ask for? Well, Francesca, Paolo and their mom made it perfect, they were so kind and helpful, and very patient with my attempts at Italian! Thank you! We will never forget it!

We had checked Trip Advisor for reviews, and found a very helpful one, giving exact directions and advice on shops etc. We were not disappointed! (I do not have a good luck when booking accommodation over the internet, but this time I succeeded... it met all our expectations.) Francesca and family were very friendly and helpful. They were happy to assist wherever possible. Would definitely recommend it and would love to go back!

We were a group of 5 adults and 1 year old baby, visiting in October 2008.

We have done all of the reservation by email and phone, getting the initial information from their website:
http://www.san-giorgio.net/
and of course checking the Tripadvisor reviews.
There was no pre-pay required.

You can check the exact location at Google Earth (Coordinates: Latitude 43°15'33.87"N ; Longitude 11°21'44.38"E).

We had a really great stay! Francesca, Paolo and Tina are amazing family team, answering all of our questions, making useful reccomendations about activities in the area, taking care of each problem promptly (not that there were many). They are great hosts. We were very late on the day of the arrival (coming in at around 12 AM). They left the keys inside the door of our apartment, along with some useful written explanations. They also allowed us to stay a couple of extra hours on the day of departure with no extra charge.

There are 2 main buildings divided to apartments of various sizes and prices.

We stayed in the Contadino apartment - a huge place decorated in rustic and traditional style. It is located on a second floor (out of 2). There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (new) and a living
room+kitchennette. There is also a small balcony before the entrance door with table and 2 chairs.
Comfortable baby cot was provided to us by request. The bedrooms (ours - master bedroom - was huge!!) have ample storage room, closets, etc. The living room was big enough, with big dining table and a huge and very interesting fireplace. There was enough (free of charge) firewood. There is also cable TV (not that we watched it even once!). The kitchen has almost everything we needed - fridge, dishwasher, gas stove and a small toaster-oven (unfortunately no microwave!), cookware etc.
We never heard any noise from the neighbours.
The only extra we had to pay for at the end of our stay was the per-hour central heating - everything else was already in the price.

The farmhouse is located several kilometers from the SR2 road, and occasionally during the day you might some traffic noise - 95% of the time its really (really!) quiet.

You will probably need a car to stay in the San Giorgio (not sure if there is any public transportation from Siena or Monteroni D'Arbia - nearest towns).

The first arrival to the farmhouse is a little tricky. There is a "white road" leading to Radi from SR2, you will see a sign leading you to Radi and to San Giorgio. be sure not to miss it, especially in the dark. Our GPS came to be very useful that day.

The farm provides you with a pool and plenty of places to relax, outside tables to have BBQ or just eat your breakfast, lots of open grassed spaces, and some facilities to keep your kids busy. There are 3 cutest sheep, totally domesticated, roaming the territory some time of the day (when they are not locked up) - that provided pleasant surprise for our 1 year old,and lots of smiles for us.
There is not much to do around the farm itself. There are 3 mountain bikes for rent. If you continue driving few kilometers past Radi, there is a forest you can walk in (no marked paths, at least not ones we have seen).

One of the main qualities of San Giorgio is quick access to highway. 5 minutes - and you are on SR2, five more minutes, and you are on your way to Rome or Florence. San Giorgio is 15 minutes away from Siena historic center, and 15 minutes away from Monteroni D'Arbia - where is a big COOP store where we did all the shopping. There is also a farmacy, in addition to the one in Ponte A Tressa. Hour drive to San Gimigniano/Florence.

While you are in the area, don't miss Murlo - cute and tiny walled village with a restaurant (we havent been there by it was recommended by Francesca - ask her about opening hours, as they are tricky.)

This was a respite from those noisy city hotels. The room was great, Francesca was extremely welcoming, and the property is about 10 minutes from Siena. We stayed three days, should have stayed longer but we had other commitments. Rooms are large, extremely clean, quiet, with a great pool. One of our best finds so far. We highly recommend it. Breakfast was wonderful.
