We had an excellent experience with Sea Spray Outdoor Adventures (also known as Eagle North Kayak) and would strongly recommend it to anybody looking for great hiking, kayaking, and biking in northern Cape Breton Island. The co-owners, Mike and Jen, know the place inside and out – their warmth and know-how really enhanced our vacation. We were first-time visitors when we spent five days in the area in August 2013 (we stayed at the Markland, also highly recommended). Now, thanks in large part to Sea Spray, we are eager to return.

We hoped that our 3 days in Cape Breton would be one of the highlights of our trip to Nova Scotia and it was! Due in most part to Jen and Michael and the wonderful hike and kayak tour we had with them. Our hike was down to money point on a day when the cloud didn't lift off the top of the mountain. On the descent down we stopped to eat wild strawberries and raspberries and Jen provided great knowledge about the flora and fauna. Jen was engaging and very kind about pacing the hike down and up to our comfort. It was a tough hike back up almost all of the way back felt near vertical ...but it was worth every aching muscle.

We also came down to a pasture with wonderful views and more wild flowers and 5 beautiful horses out to pasture for the summer. Lunch on the beach and then a visit to the nearby wreck Korita - where Jen shared with us the fabulous story of her family's involvement with the wreck... If you want to know more you have to do the hike or the kayak, it's only fair :-).

The half day kayak next day with Jen and Michael was also very good. Four hours on a brackish lagoon through a salt marsh and a portage over the neck of a barrier beach to Aspey Bay then across the coastline to Scotch Cove. Bliss. All the safety talks were worth it when my husband was knocked out of his kayak. He reacted as told and both Mike and Jen were calm and efficient in helping him to get back into his kayak. Text book at sea rescue. Mike and Jen really know what they're doing! Again Michael shared another story regarding his family... Do the kayak it's worth it! It's such fun!

My wife and I have wanted to visit Nova Scotia for more than two decades. I saw the Sea Spray website back in January while planning the trip and contacted Dennis Doyon. He was immensely helpful in suggesting travel plans and activities that fit our love of the outdoors, moderate physical activity, and seeing great scenery. We decided to spend our entire week on Cape Breton Island with Sea Spray planning and guiding us on several activities. We could not have been happier with our experience. Jen and Michael, who now manage Sea Spray and guide clients, are some of the nicest people we have ever met. Their love of their community and the natural environment is very apparent. They share their knowledge of the community, its history, and the natural environment freely which makes the experience of touring with them all that more enriching. Jen guided us on the full day Coastal Hike (with Dennis) and also on the Northern Lighthouse hike. She also guided us on a half day sea kayak tour of South Harbor. There were other self guided activities that were planned for us with equipment provided along with lists of suggestions of other activities for our free time. Jen, Michael and Dennis made the difference in a trip for us that would have been memorable anyway into one that is unforgettable. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Last summer we hiked with Dennis to Money Point. This was a hike we had long been excited about, but one member of our party was extremely intimidated to go it alone. We are frequent visitors to Cape Breton and are completely in love with the island. Dennis showed us a piece of the island we could never have seen without his help. We will never forget the beauty of the trail of purple flowers, the lighthouse, and the old shipwreck. The climb was tough and we appreciated his kindness and encouragement. Finally, the conversation was awesome. What a lovely day.

My husband and I enjoy outdoor activity, but not extreme activity. We enjoy learning about the flora, fauna, and history of the area and catching sight of wildlife. We explained this to Dennis Doyon of Sea Spray Outdoor Adventures when inquiring about his kayaking trips. While talking with him on the phone from our home, I could tell he also had a deep interest in these items that interested us so we chose his kayak trip. Dennis emailed us driving directions, list of the tours he offers, information on what to bring to be comfortable, and the equipment he would be providing. We were well informed for our tour.

Our kayaking in North Harbour in Dingwall, Cape Breton with Dennis was wonderful. Dennis made sure we knew how to handle a kayak; and through his extensive experience, we learned more ways to be safe and happy while kayaking. On that beautiful, sunny day on the harbour, we learned much about the fishing livelihood of the residents of Dingwall, the geography and geology, the plants and animals, and life as a resident at the northern tip of Cape Breton. We were kayaking for about 3 hours, and it seemed longer with all that we saw and learned. With the kayak instruction and his knowledge of the area, we had a safe trip. I can imagine any trip that Dennis guides would be so interesting, carefully done, and accomodating the interests of his clients.

Kathy and Paul had some prior paddling experience, but we agreed to paddle a bay that offered them quiet waters if we had no wind, but only moderate difficulty if the wind arose. End result, no wind! So we enjoyed a wonderful tour through mussel farms, oyster beds, heron habitat, shorebird rookeries and viewed and photographed Bald Eagles.

Both Kathy and Paul were great company on this tour, and I'm so pleased that they enjoyed good weather for their outing.
