Owner description: Levi is located in the western Lapland, in the middle of pure nature and large wilderness areas. Levi is the most popular and fast-growing winter sport resort in Finland. Alpine World Cup Race is arranged every November. The first snowflakes usually fall in October-November and the skiing season continues until early-May. With 43 slopes, 27 lifts and more than 200 km of cross-country trails, Levi offers the skiers the best there is. There are different types of slopes and skiing tracks that offer a possibility to enjoy skiing for both beginners and more experienced skiers. In the beginning of the season one can start with skiing on the 9 km long artificial "first snow" track, which is free of charge. The most challenging and well-assorted South Park in Finland for the snowboarders and the freestyle enthusiasts is situated in Levi. NEW Alpine Training Park for racing teams and clubs.

“Something for everyone ? not quite”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

Good for family with different skills and ability of skiing and snowboarding - good beginner hills and average for those who have better skills. Not good for off piste skiing and big disappointment when realized that one gondola and one chair lift but all the others are T-bars...

Dear NanaMaria68,

thank you for your review of our skiing services. After building up the main slope areas, our next investment includes a second chair lift at southern side of fell and more illumination at slopes. The carpet lift is new for this season and the second cabin lift (gondola) was opened already on 2007.

“What it lacks in charm is makes up for in friendliness and scenery”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

As you might expect for somewhere this far north, the buildings have to be put up quickly and are rather utilitarian, so it has a bit of an industrial look although they've made some good attempts to soften it with stone and wood cladding. But what it lacks in charm it makes up for in friendliness and energy. We went to cross country ski so didn't experience the downhill facilities, but we did go up the mountain a couple of times to look and they seemed quite extensive for a Nordic resort. Certainly people seemed to be having a good time and the place is buzzing with young people. The cross country pistes were very good indeed, well maintained extensive and interesting. There were some nice log cabins to stop in with wood fires and many also had some food and drink for sale. Mostly you're skiing on wide loipes through light forest on the undulating terrain around Levi Tunturi. This has a distinctive Nordic slightly bleak beauty which is a refreshing change from the towering Alps. You don't however quite get the feeling of remoteness that you do around Saariselka 100 miles North and you never quite get away from the snow mobiles, even if they are only in the distance. Some people sadi that neary Yllas was better for this but I can't vouch for that. Even so it's a great place to ski. The village is full of life, with shops, bars and restuarants, although there's quite a lot of fast food, sugar coated donuts and Karaoke so you need to choose what you want. We though Oliver's Irish Bar had a very nice atmosphere, with a good mix of ages and sexes and some nice beer. The Vehna - a sort of Finnish Hoegaarten wheat beer was very good. It's a good place to go and watch and Ice Hockey Match or ski jumping with the largely Finnish crowd. All in all it's a really fun and friendly place and we would certainly go back. The sevice at the Zero Point ski rental was very good which I've reviewed separately.

“Great place for the less experienced”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

Unfortunately weather very overcast so only got one decent day up on the fell. The other days couldn't see a thing! However, Kids Land facility fantastic, can't praise it enough. Nice runs for the unexperienced over on the South Piste (Lift 8). Ski bus regular and punctual, stopped outside our hotel. My husband had a ski lesson which was excellent and speaking to others all were of the same opinion. Nice café / restaurant at the foot of slope nº 8. (Also 2 wooden huts for warming up / grilling sausages). WOULD LOVE TO SKI THERE AGAIN.

Dear pucciinabag,

thank you for your nice review of our skiing services. Weather can be challenging sometimes but we try to manage with it. Luckily we do have many skiing services below the tree line where hard wind does not bother that much. You are always warmly welcome back!

“Amazing place”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

Heading back to Levi on Sunday - Will be our sixth year in a row here and we absolutely love it! Learnt to ski here and find that it caters to all our needs. Have never once been bored despite going back to the same place and accommodation each year (which some people find odd!!)
lots of ski slopes to use, Ice karting, Ice Hotel, Reindeer safaris, Husky Safaris, snow mobiling..... the activites are endless never mind the fact that we have been fortunate enough to witness the Northern Lights on 3 out of 5 visits so far - hoping that next week will be 4 out of 6! Looking forward to our visit next year as well to see the new lift that will be on South Slopes. If you're thinking of going then just do it, you wont be sorry!
