“Brilliant family New Year trip with Thomson (2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 & 8)”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

We travelled to Levi with Thomson for a new years eve break. We have two young daughters and we went to Yllas last December for the Santa break with Inghams and wanted to do something different this year.
Thomson were brilliant. The flight was fun (the pilot dipped the plane pretending that Santa had landed on it) even though we travelled 29th December they tailored the trip for the kids to thank santa for their presents and it was just as much fun and christmassey as it was before christmas.
The Levi cabins were very clean and had all of the amenities that you could wish for including a log burner and sauna. The cabins themselves are not "Log" cabins as we expected. They are made of wood but the structure is of square planed timbers - not as rustic but still very attractive. There was also a welcome pack which included bread, milk, juice, eggs, bacon, sausage, tea coffee sugar. This was great and we really appreciated it.
The whole holiday was fantastic and Thomson kept us busy each day with excursions and even a trip to Santas workshop which they exclusively hired for their guests so it was great to look around and not be rushed or have long waiting times which we did have with Inghams.
The only reason I didnt give the Levi Cabins a five star rating was because they were 4km out of Levi so we had to get the Ski bus which runs every half hour until 7pm and after that we got taxis which were easy to catch. We did walk into Levi a couple of times as we put the kids on sledges and pulled them along but this wasnt always suitable if the weather was too cold for them. Having said this I would still stay at these cabins so dont let it put you off. It was lovely after a long day to go back and light a fire. Much better than going back to a hotel room and you can still visit the hotels and join in with the entertainment which we did every night.
There is lots to do in Levi including the cable car up to the ski hotel. The cable car is free after 6pm and the restaurant meals at the ski hotel are very good.
If you travel with Thomson dont rush into booking and paying for extra excursions - see what is included in your holiday first as they do pressure you by saying that if you dont book now you might not get on the trip. This is not the case as you could always book with a company in Levi and it may be cheaper but Thomson wouldnt want that so they would get you on the trip anyway. We didnt book anything and we had Reindeer slegh ride, Husky sleigh ride and a day of snow mobiles included. Our friends booked everything and paid nearly £1000 extra and they did the same as us but for a bit longer - as it is so cold you really dont want to be doing these things for too long. Instead we went back to the cabin warmed up then went into Levi to look around and experience the pubs / restaurants. A great trip. We loved it and would definately recommend :)

Room Tip: Levi Cabins fantastic but 20 min walk into Levi (Bus & Taxi are available)

We stayed at the Levi Cabins from 1st - 4th December 2013 in a magical search for Santa trip with our Son, daughter in law and 3 grandchildren ages 3, 5. & 7.We could not fault the accommodation it was immaculate and the welcome pack was excellent and included, all breakfast requirements. The location was picturesque and stunning and located next to a Bus stop to get us into town. The cabins were so cosy and we even took a small Xmas tree to complete the Christmas feel along with some Xmas DVD's for the kids!! There is no experience so magical as drinking champagne out in the snow in your onesie watching the Northern lights!! Do not hesitate to book the cabins if you are tempted you will not be disappointed!!

we travelled with thomson to Levi on the four night excursion, Levi is a beautiful resort with everything you want in walking distance (20mins) or 2 mins on the ski bus (half hourly) to the main resort, with ski slopes, cable car, a few pubs and shops including 2 supermarkets, most of your trips drop off and pick up in the village so you can get dropped off or picked up there each day. the bus pick up for trips is on the cabin door step.

The cabins themself are great and true lapish style, we were 3 adults 1 teenager and 2 children and with the 6 of us it was ok but you would struggle with anymore.

Cabins were very warm and we often had to open the windows, there is underfloor heating and a log fire which we did not need to use, even though it was -24 outside :-)

The sauna howevr was used everyday. in the shed there were a few sleighs for the children to use and plenty of great places to play outside of the cabin, the taster trips were great and the snow village/elf adventure is a must, something in levi for all ages.

to top it all our rep twinkletoes tara was amazing and put the sparkle of magic into our trip, nothing was to much trouble, she was amazing with the children and always happy welcoming and cheerful.

the cabin was wel equiped, But no dvd player as advertised. also check what food is in the breakfast parcel first as most of what we brought was already there.

a magical trip with memories that will last forever.

The cabin itself was very clean and tidy. It had a log burner with log provided. You did have to chop up your own kindling but that was all part of the experience which we thoroughly enjoyed. There was plenty of things to do in Levi from skiing to snowmobiling. I would certainly recommend going to Lapland.

We stayed here in December 2012 as our friends were getting married at the Ice Chapel. The cabins were fantastic there were two families staying in each cabin and there was plenty of room. Never felt the cold once and on a couple of days the temperature got as low as -29. There were loads of sledges in the outhouse to pull the kids around town on. These cabins are also not too far from a Supermarket so the sledges came in even more handy to carry the shopping home on. Loved watching the snowmobiles going through the forrest outside our window. The cabins are on a lovely quiet road and you felt safe to let the kids play out in the snow. The town of Levi is just so pretty. Loved the shops with all the candles lit outside them. I have already recommended these cabins to a friend of mine who has only stayed in Hotels in Levi. And finally, what makes these cabins so so lovely is the pretty christmas lights on the balcony it makes them look picture perfect.

When you do go to Levi arrange your own trips through their own tourist information centre, better value.

We stayed here for a week in March for out Wedding. The cabins were picture perfect from the outside and the inside did not disappoint. Just in through the door was a drying cabinet and further into the hallway was a good sized open cupboard to hang ski coats and trousers. The kitchen had all the appliances we needed and the cutlery, crockery and glasses were extremely well stocked. The fridge was large but the freezer was fairly small, but adequate for a week. There was also a large sized wooden bench table.
The living area consisted of a comfy settee and two armchairs with a good sized television and DVD player. We found several English channels but opted to watch the DVDs we had taken with us. The toilet, shower and sauna were spotless as was the rest of the cabin. There was an outhouse that had plenty of wood supplies and also a sledge that could be used for bringing shopping back to the cabin.
We found our cabin to be beautifully decorated with tea lights, reindeer light and star lights to create a perfect wintery atmosphere inside the cabin if wanted. The under floor heating was wonderful and although we had taken slippers, we kept forgetting to put them on!
We opted to sleep in the downstairs twin bedroom as there was just the two of us, and this was where the only wardrobe was. There was a further four single beds upstairs but I would imagine the steps could be awkward to negotiate for middle of the night toilet trips! There was also not much storage upstairs for clothes - just one set of drawers. Although the cabin can sleep 6 I can imagine it feeling a little crowded and there would be a lack of storage space if six people stayed there.

Perhaps if there was a downside to the cabin it would be that the hot water is limited and takes a while to reheat once used. So it is best not to linger in the shower and try to organise so people arent showering straight after each other. This small point though would not stop me from staying here again.
