Wonderful stay at the hotel, staff made extra effort to address our requests. Room was upgraded because of HHonours status and complimentary breakfast was added. Area that the hotel is in is a bit dodgy, but there is safe underground parking.

This was my first trip to Cape Town...visiting son at UTC and kicking off a 15 day visit. I was a bit unnerved arriving to the Doubletree Upper Eastside at night...its seems to be in a 'dodgy' part of town, but these fears were unfounded in the light of day. We stayed in the Twin Deluxe Loft Suite for our 3 night stay and it was the perfect base for our travels around Cape Town. A beautiful suite with large balcony and kitchen. A great space to welcome visitors and or relax when not sightseeing. Beautifully furnished, excellent bed & linens and a luxurious bathroom. Food was good both in-room and in restaurant. Staff was responsive and personable and eagerly handled all arrangements.. Complimentary shuttle to/from waterfront is easy and other trips around town are easily accommodated (thank you Musa!) Secure parking at hotel for a minimal fee. Happy we chose the Doubletree!

Room Tip: Twin Deluxe Loft Suite...on the corner of the building with a view of the water. (ask for the one...

Was a bit wary of booking this hotel due to location but decided to give it a try, stayed at the hotel from the 10 to 14 April and absolutely loved it! Rooms and bathrooms are clean which is a big plus for me, decor is modern and fresh. Staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. A special thank you to Brian, the restuarant manager. My husband urgently needed a quiete place to work and Brian made the conference room available to him on a Sunday afternoon, this was very appreciated. Oh, and the cookies are just divine! A nice touch.

Not a negative, just a suggestion to maybe look at another location for your business centre/library area as you can't really work there due to the close proximity to the bar and big screen tv.

Thank you Upper Eastside will definately stay again!

Restaurants, spa and minimart are available at the basement. Room are good and clean for us. However, though it is supposed to be a non-smoking room, we still can smell cigaratte's smoke coming into our room from adjacent rooms via the air-con vent.

Breakfast is simple and good, waitors and waitresses are all very helpful. Wifi password changes everyday, so do remember to collect the password sheet from the reception.

There are factory outlets near the hotel but it's always late when we returned, thus no chance to pop by. There is a small minimart opposite the hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel, love the Decor but there isn't anything really todo in the hotel, no entertainment. You will think that this beautiful hotel will have In-Room entertainment because of the area its in, Not Even HD quality or Video on Demand available on the TV. it would be nice to be able to watch movies. Otherwise Service was great and Staff very friendly. Would stay there again.

I only stayed one night.

Very nice hotel, I had a deluxe which was very spacious and comfortable. nice size bathroom with separate shower.

Food in the restaurant for dinner as well as breakfast was very good - taste and quality - as was the service.

The bar was quite lively and offered live music. there is a separate large smoking lounge next to the bar which was nice to see (if you are a smoker that is). the hotel décor is quite modern and chic.

I cannot comment on other services such as wifi etc as I was not at the hotel long enough to use them.

The one negative is the location. it does not feel safe driving into the area at night.

This hotel is absolutely a 5star EXCEPT for the location-yikes-it's pretty bad. I wanted to leave and stay somewhere else while trying to find (also very hard as the area has limited street signs and didn't find one safe place to stop and ask).

Pros:
Super modern decor
Good prices at restaurant/room service (thank God, I would not have left. 1salad, 2entrees, 1soda, 1dessert = $32.00)
Great breakfast (meat, eggs cooked to order, cheeses, fruits, cappuccinos, etc)
Nice room
Friendly staff

Cons:
Horrid location
No place to park car during check in (it's sort of in a small indoor mall-weird) you park in a garage

I'd say again, cheap w hilton pts, but KNOW exactly how to get here or have GPS. Expect a BAD area, once you get in it feels like NYC
