Manoir D'Youville at 498 Boulevard d'Youville is a long way from Quebec City. This location is really in Chateauguay, Quebec across from the city of Montreal approximately 28 Km. Anyone landing in Quebec City would have to drive 284 Kilometres or 154 miles.
The serene location is a former convent and as such is rather spares in decor but it's location more than makes up for it. The rooms are small but comfortable, the beds are comfortable but not top of line hotel quality, just beds. The entire place is very clean but it's greatest attribute is the scenic location on lac St Louis and it tranquility.
We stumbled onto this location purely by accident with the GPS and from the gate buzzed the front desk to get in. Although we had no reservations they were able to accommodate us.
As we finished checking in we were advised that if we hurried we could get a bite to eat in the cafeteria/dinning room....no extra charge. This little bite to eat turned out to be a full dinner (butter chicken with rice) dessert, coffee, tea, milk.. this plus a full breakfast the following morning...all for $123.00 Canadian for 2 adults.
There are currently 3 nuns or sisters still leaving in one of the houses on the property and if you take the time to climb the stairs located on the North side of the property past the Grotto you will find the final resting place of many of these sisters.
The web site says they have a bistro on the grounds and you can also get a massage but we were not there long enough. Also there is a pool but never got to that either.
Wi-Fi is available, there is no air conditioning in the room but sleeping with the window open is very safe. The staff spoke both English and French and very friendly.
I am glad we found this little spot and would recommend it for those who are looking for a quiet place to spend a night or 2.
