“Amazing NYE experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Hotel V is a beautiful high-end and exclusive boutique hotel in Vejer de la Frontera, a lovely traditional white village of Andalucía - exceptional service, amazing views and exceptional amenities. We felt really special and are looking forward to coming back in the high-season. A unique experience indeed.

The rooms are nicely appointed but we didnt get one with a view. We went off season the lack of views did rather leave me feeling the price was too much for the value offered.

At this price I was expecting a bit more hotel like service at breakfast. There was food or dinner available when all restaurants were closed over bank holiday. Maybe this was my mistake as i thougth anything called Hotel Vejer would have more service. Its a very smart B&B. The ladies looking after us were nice though definitely B&B orientated.

I got room 4 which is the one without an outside window.

Hotel V is lovely but something is missing.

On the plus side Vejer is lovely and I will return when the sun shines.

Dear Hamish S,

Thank you for your comments and feedback regarding your stay at Hotel V… We always appreciate hearing from our guests. It’s nice to know that you found the décor to be nicely appointed and your compliments on the staff are much appreciated however we deeply regret that you were disappointed with any part of your visit.

It is unfortunate that your visit took place during a bank holiday thus making it difficult to find a restaurant. We do hope you get a chance to visit again during a warmer season so you can enjoy the many wonderful amenities offered by the hotel and the village. Spending time on the rooftop terrace whilst taking in the views and/or sunsets is sure to make you happy. The village is bursting with choices of fine restaurants which unfortunately you were not able to discover and enjoy during your previous visit.

The room you had, Room 4, is one of the largest of our guest rooms and is actually quite lovely. The windows open into the courtyard patio which is an open air courtyard but during the winter season, may have looked a bit dark. Since Hotel V… is a refurbished 16th century manor house, every room and every view is going to be uniquely different.

On behalf of Hotel V…, we regret that your experience with us was anything less than perfect and sincerely hope that you will let us make it up to you on another occasion.

Kind Regards,

Elise, V… Guest Relations Manager

The stay and staff at Hotel V in Vejer were absolutely amazing. Incredibly helpful and courteous, beautiful rooms and facilities, and made our stay unforgettable. It was the low season, (december/january) but they treated us as if we were their only patrons. Great experience

We loved the historic Spanish architecture infused with modern luxe; the memorable mediterranean-arabic breakfast; and the wonderful welcome we received from Manuela and the other staff. Moreover, since it was November we got a great deal on the price of the hotel room. Thank you! We can't wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel over the weekend. We stayed in room 2 which was lovely. Really spacious, beautiful bedroom and bathroom and we were made to feel very welcome by Manuela.
The bed and furnishings were really comfortable and the bath, shower and double basins made it all feel really luxurious.

The hotel has a lovely roof terrace - sadly a bit chilly for us in late November! We enjoyed a drink in the salon and honesty bar. They kindly threw in the half bottle of Rioja and amaretto we consumed.
Points to note: the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant although you can have breakfast there. We went out to the many great restaurants in Vejer so not really a hardship.

Would really recommend if you want a Mr and Mrs Smith type small boutique hotel. It was fab!

The pics online have not much to do with reality. The rooms are tiny and very unpractical, they are dark and you can hear your next door neighbors just a little bit too much for comfort. There are even rooms without a window at all (window goes onto the hallway where other guests walk past), so absolutely no chance of light or air god forbid privacy. This would be a storage chamber in other places, not a room for 200 Euros plus!!! The breakfast was good (again not included and very overpriced), yet it is served in the small patio with fake grass flooring and no sun entering and if there are more than 5 guests there is no more space. The staff is a mixture between clueless and helpless and to round it up hits the wrong tone with customers. Basic service is missing at every corner and one wonders how they justify their prices. We were glad to leave and change to a hotel half the price and double the charm at the lovely plaza.

Dear mialana1070,

On behalf of Hotel V…, we regret that you were not able to enjoy the same great experience that other guests have had while staying with us. We value customer’s comments very much so that we can make amends wherever necessary however I do feel that your criticisms are a bit harsh and not entirely factual.

Hotel V… is an authentic historical building and therefore the size of each of the guestrooms is going to be uniquely different. Some rooms are larger or smaller than others but all are beautifully decorated and appointed. The smallest room which is undoubtedly the one you criticized is used as an additional room to create a suite for people traveling with children or who just want an extra room. The two rooms are connected via a lovely sitting area with enormous windows that provides plenty of light for the smaller of the rooms. Both rooms can be sectioned off from the rest of the hotel thus creating a private wing. No doubt you saw this room upon a tour of the hotel and it was not in fact the room you were given for your stay.

The breakfast, which I’m happy to hear you enjoyed, is a typical Andalusian breakfast consisting of all fresh local ingredients including the highest quality Iberian ham, a well-known delicacy of the region. The price of the breakfast is very much reflective of all the high quality products offered. The patio where breakfast is served is an open courtyard that gets complete natural sunlight which can vary depending on the time of day. It is not possible for there to be no sunlight unless it is a rainy or overcast day. Since the time for serving breakfast is quite flexible, the guests are never there all at the same time and if that were the case, there is plenty of extra room in the salon which opens directly to the courtyard patio through several sets of French doors.

To accuse the staff of being a mixture of “clueless and helpless” is very unfair. The staff is consistently praised for their friendly and courteous demeanor and knowing them all personally, I can assure you they are all extremely polite and helpful.

Providing our guests with an exceptional experience is of utmost importance and we regret that your stay at V… was anything less than perfect. Best of luck with your future travels.

Regards,

Elise, V… Guest Relations Manager
