We stayed at Vista Vejer in May 2004 (and visited again in 2006) when the owners, Darren and Anke, were still in the process of developing the property. Our 'chalet' was simply furnished but comfortable, well equipped and good value for the cost. There was definitely room for improvement back then and - on looking today at their website - I'm delighted to see that it is now very attractive, with several chalets and an inviting pool (with all-important shaded areas as it can get very hot in the summer). The chalets now have outdoor seating areas with sunshades and the landscaping all around is attractive.
Darren and Anke were very friendly and helpful hosts with excellent local knowledge. They were very involved with the local community (with a daughter in the local primary school) and could recommend good places to eat and visit.
Vejer de la Frontera is a pretty, whitewashed town with some lovely restaurants. Along the coast there is also Chiclana (great market), Cadiz and Tarifa (where you can get a ferry to Morocco). Jerez is approx. 1.5 hours by car (you can do 'sherry tasting' tours there) and Seville a bit further but worth a day trip. Some 15-20 minutes' drive from Vista Vejer there are several beautiful vast beaches - with a few cafes and bars here and there. It can get a bit windy but they're great for walking and windsurfing. The area has possibly been developed a little more since our visits but was very unspoilt.
