This is a lovely and peaceful family run hotel in the countryside literally 10 min. away from Siena. It is a great place to use as a base camp for touring Tuscany. Siena, San Gimigniano, Monteriggioni, Florence, Montepulciano, Volterra, you name it – everything is 1 to max 1:30 hours away from this hotel. The owners are super friendly especially Corrado who is managing the hotel part.
The restaurant have beautiful garden were we probably had 3 of our best dinners in our 16 days trip of Italy. It is not only that the atmosphere is magical in the evening, but also the food is astonishing. Every evening the restaurant was full of locals and this is quite a sign for the quality of service and meals. Fresh homemade pasta with duck or wild boar sauce, fresh Gnocchi with Gorgonzola cheese are only some of the specialties you can get here. You also got to try the grandma’s cake. Just ask Filippo about it (Corrado’s brother in law who is managing the restaurant) or probably he will suggest it anyway :)
The rooms are also fabulous – clean, specious and full of Tuscany atmosphere – with the wooden beams on the sealing and the canopy on the bed. Bathroom is also very specious. The hotel does have also a small pool and a dozen of sun chairs. You can also get a bike for free and pedal the surrounding fields on sunset - magical. There is even a stable with couple of horses.
Overall we had an amazing time and it was a great brake for us from the crowds in the big cities. Highly recommend it.
PS: The electricity plugs are 2 pin EU, but they are tinier that the usual once in most of EU (for example my BG plugs didn’t fit in), so make sure to bring appropriate adapter. In our case Corrado gave us one, but this is a general issue in most of Italy (at least in the small hotels), so is better to have you own or even more than one if you want to charge multiple devices during the night (like couple of cell phones, couple of camera batteries and a laptop :)
