I have eaten here twice and enjoyed the food and service both times. One of the best steaks I have had in my life was eaten here.

Charming decor and helpful staff, beautifully presented and prepared food.

Thank Darrin R

We chose to savour that most relaxing of French institutions, le dejeurner de dimanche in Provence. Opportunities were widely available at the end of the season, Les Baux, St Remy, Fontvielle or further afield. However we opted for Mausanne les Alpilles, and as neither of the Michelin rated restaurants appeared in any way superior we chose L'Oustaloun. Superb food and a well balanced wine list matched by excellent service delivered by the friendly knowledgeable bi-lingual Thierry Fabregoul and his Italian speaking wife Marielle made it a meal to remember. On this showing the restaurant deserves to become the third Michelin entry in Maussane.

We enjoyed lunch in the plaza, ordering their cheese and marine plank lunches. Fresh, tasty and wonderful. Having the server speak a bit of English was very helpful.

Situated on a very cozy square, eating at l'oustaloun was a very nice experience. Aside from the excellent service, the food was great value-for-money and we really enjoyed our evening there. Comes highly recommended

Ate here recently one balmy evening. The situation is lovely - right in the middle of the square. But its really not what I would call a Provencal restaurant - presentation is very metropolitan - slate plates, uber contemporary glassware etcetc. But more importantly, the food is extremely clinical. Yes, there was nothing wrong with what we ate but it was too 'conveyor belt' - nothing on the plate 'sang'. That might sound really pretentious and apologies if it does but by way of example - the veal chop was decently cooked and served with the ubiquitous stuffed tomato and a small pot of decent ratatouille. All perfectly acceptable but somehow it all lacked guts. It was just too polite and had none of that earthy punch you'd expect from base ingredients of quality. And the tuna was drowned in chopped capers. Oh I don't know - I just wasn't blown away by it and it wasn't cheap. Sorry!
