This is my second stay here after completing theRaid Pyrenean - a bike ride over the Pyrenees - The Hotel La Dorade is the final check point and all I can say is that every pedal stroke was worth the effort to sample the awesome Moules Frites and later the Paella. The food and service from owner Yves are second to none. Yves is a delight, he makes you feel like part of his family from the minute you arrive.
The rooms at the hotel are charming, they are situated above the restaurant and in asmall annexe opposite, the are comfortable, with showers and toilets that are clean - this is not a modern hotel but it a lovely feel to it and is spotless.
I love this hotel and look forward to going back again next year.

Room Tip: I had room 19, it was quiet clean and the shower was powerful, it's the annexe. The rooms in the...

This is a stunning place to stay. On the water front, great rooms and an excellent restaurant but there's more than just that. It has character and charm; in a row of different coloured painted buildings. The owners, Yves and Ann are simply delightful and interesting people and they and their staff work hard to make everything just right. Good food, great service and enjoyable hospitality.

We ended up here by mistake when a train strike prevented our getting to our planned destination. Well, if you are forced to Tay at an unplanned pace, this is the place to sty. The owners are unbelievably hardworking, very friendly, and willing to help in any way they can. The red fruit crumble is to die for. The rooms are comfortable, and the wi fi works. A very lucky accident for us.

Central location and clean, spacious room with sea view in the quiet, charming inlet that is Cerbere. Fabulous food, if you like fish, this place is a must. Brilliant breakfasts, lasting lunches, delicious dinners. Don't miss an opportunity if your in the area to book a room and a table. If your not in the area, decide to visit, travel along the coast and choose this original hotel as your base. It's a gem.

Room Tip: Room with a sea view and balcony

Our family of 5, including 3 boys, were lucky enough to come across the little town of Cerbere as we travelled from Spain back into France. We were looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend and lucky for us, we stopped into the Hotel La Dorade where we met Yves who had just the room for us on the top floor of his lovely hotel! He and his wife Anne were exceedingly hospitable and they are two of the hardest working people we know! Besides the hotel, which has been in their family since Yves grandmother opened it, they have a completely wonderful restaurant where we had two excellent dinners boasting amazing food and some of the best service around. We were so delighted with our room and the restaurant and even more so with Yves and Anne and their hospitality that we stayed longer than we expected and were sorry to leave this little slice of Paradise. If you are wanting a relaxing place to stay on the shore we would highly recommend Hotel La Dorade in little Cerbere. Collioure is just down the road and it is very pretty and a great place to visit, but instead of staying there, make your home for a short while with Yves and Anne at the La Dorade. And if you are just passing through, stop in the restaurant for a delicious meal or even just to sample the wide variety of coffees or icecream flavors as you sit on the veranda. Thank you Yves and Anne! This was the friendliest and lovliest stop on our trip.

Room Tip: Our room was at the top in the front overlooking the tiny beach and it was perfect! No elevator but...

After a hectic week of soirees with friends in the Pyrenees, Family Anderson were looking forward to some rest and relaxation by the seaside. (As much rest as an exuberant 18-month-old will allow anyway...)

After self-catering with a six-month-old in Tuscany last summer, this was our first attempt at staying in a hotel with our daughter. La Dorade was the perfect place for this experiment. The hotel is perfectly positioned on the beach front in the small village of Cerbere, ten minutes from the Spanish border. It's a tiny place with a pebbly beach, a couple of restaurants, a couple of hotels and a small town square with all the amenities you require on holiday. It's one of many beautiful villages/ towns set back in small coves along the mediterranean coast, with craggy mountain backdrops.

The hotel and it's owners are absolutely charming and the hotel is steeped in family history. The owners are happy to help with any request or query you have during your stay. The rooms are a decent size, welcoming and clean and we were lucky enough to have a balcony overlooking the sea and the bar/ restaurant below. We visited during peak season and, despite being busy, it wasn't too noisy.

Having failed at trying to be more continental in our parenting (bring baby with you in the evening for aperitif and dinner, baby will sit quietly in buggy/ highchair trying a whole host of gastronomic delights before contentedly falling asleep...) we opted for a 7pm bedtime for baby, door locked, baby monitor on, Mummy & Daddy enjoying a wonderful seafood dinner with local wine in the restaurant downstairs. Everyone was happy.

During the day we were able to enjoy the beach as a family and be close enough to the hotel to nip back and forth for the obligatory forgotten baby equipment.

As far as our first experience of a family beach holiday in a hotel goes, it was perfect. Oh, apart from the teething.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room with a balcony.
