“Had a great time”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

Me and my partner have just got home from this hotel. The rooms are nice, the staff are all very polite and really nice. The food was nice but as usual with all inclusive holidays it got a bit repetitive, however if you got board of the dining area there is always the snack bars. We could always get a lounger at any time of the day which was a bonus. The hotel pool and surrounding area was clean and tidy. The animation team were fantastic and kept us entertained, especially Fofo, Momo and Jack. If you get photos taken while there use the photographer called Bora, he was really friendly and professional and took some fab photos. The jewellery shop there was great too and we picked up a few bargains. The all inclusive finished at 11pm so we used to go to the bar right on the hotels doorstep called Moonshine Bar which did cheap cocktails and nice food, we would recommend a visit there. All in all we had a great holiday and would go back.

Rooms, eating area and pools very clean. The staff (from the cleaning Lady to the Manager) exceedingly helpful, polite and friendly towards customers. Staff treated each other with respect: very nice to see. Food was good and varied. Thank goodness no animation. Hotel grounds tastefully laid out. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

Good hotel, worth the money. Very nice staff, although it can be hard to communicate in English (staff speak Russian, some Polish and German). Most guests are Russians (as in the whole area). All inclusive: the food is tasty and quite varied. The rooms are small but clean, bathrooms meet Turkish standards - do not expect luxury.
There are two swimming pools, billiard table, table tennis and gym. The hotel's beach is not too attractive, the sea is clean though.

Room Tip: Rooms near the main pool are quite noisy till 11pm (loud music from the bar), but they have nicer v...

Hotel is not too big, clean but situated in not nice area. Everywhere is far, beach is small with rough sand. Swimmingpools, staff and food OK but nothing to do- no animation. Not recommend for young people rather for familly with small children.

Do not go to this hotel it is a disgrace and I would not even let my pets stay in a hotel that had torn sheets, dirty grey white towels the size of a small guest hand towel. The food was awful, the china was all chipped and cold even for hot food, not catered at all for western tastes only other guests where Russian and apart from another couple of UK guests that also hated the hotel and the area nothing was in English, no details of where to go to in case of fire. Or smoke alarms or Extinquishers. No signs in room about what numbers to dial on phone. Mini bar empty and dirty, curtains fell apart in my hand. The room was small and all wood work was painted dark green and chipped. No Hot water for three days. The Beach was a long a very dirty road with rubbish dumped all along it and the beach was not a beach but more a rocky area which you had to ware shoes we took one look and came back to the pool at the hotel that was the only nice place at the hotel.
The Waiter where either rude or just pointed at things and took your plate away without asking if you had finished. I and another couple have complained to ABTA and to our booking Agents about this so call 3 star Hotel and as for being All Inclusive well they do not know the meaning of the word. Could not even get to eat outside the hotel as it was all in Russian so this holiday should not be part of Agents places to go to for British People, it was our first time as All Inclusive and to Turkey. It was a Holiday from Hell and if I could have got on a plane and come home the next day I would have.

We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Hotel Golden Sun, Beldibi, Kemer, in Turkey. It was the worst holiday I have ever, ever had in over 40 years of holidaying abroad.

On arrival at the hotel and being shown to our room (overlooking the car park) - no pool or mountain view as promised that all rooms have - we were confronted with two single beds of differing lengths and heights pushed together and purporting to be a double bed! There was an electric socket hanging off one of the headboards.

When we entered the shower room (no bath), we were confronted with a DIRTY, USED and SMELLY raggeddy towel that once had probably been white but was now grey. This was quickly relegated to outside. Above the wash basin was a glass shelf - at least we think it was glass because it was so smeared with soap scum, toothpaste and goodness knows what else that it was impossible to see. It felt like glass though! Above this was a plastic beaker in a holder. I took one look at this and was gobsmacked. It was thick with grime - it couldn't have been washed for 10 years. Obviously we didn't use it, but it wasn't changed or washed during our stay.

The brochure says it has a mini bar. Oh no. Just an empty fridge. On approaching Reception and then the Manager, (in a friendly manner I have to say) he aggressively told me that it was under the television and to "just open the door". I explained that I had found the fridge and enquired again about the mini bar to which he shouted at me "You buy, you pay". Charming!

The towels by the way were to be changed every three days. When ours weren't we approached Reception and again the Manager to ask if we may have clean towels whereupon he argued with us and said that no we couldn't have any. We stood our ground and repeated over and over that we needed clean towels and finally he shouted and gesticulated aggressively that "For you I get you clean towels then no more till you go".

Now to the food. This was supposed to be All Inclusive. Well, apart from the first day when we tried the lunch and the dinner we travelled into Kemer every evening to eat there in some lovely restaurants.

The dining room at the Hotel Golden Sun was absolutely horrific.

My first meal consisted of a fish tail and cous cous (dollopped on my plate by a server). There was an abundance of tomatoes and cucumbers however, but not much else besides. My first dessert was a very small dish of - wait for it - blancmange! That was it.

Dinner time the first day was even worse. There was a "Chef" (but not really a chef, handling raw chicken and cooked chicken at the same time! One look at that and I thought - no way am I going to touch that!

The table clearers (apart from one very nice one) were surly individuals who just cleared the tables moodily without returning our smiles and "hello's" and I even witnessed one of them taking one of the hideous plastic beakers from the serving table, fill it with water from a water machine, drink it, then replace the beaker back with the clean ones for some unsuspecting holiday maker to take.

The lack of hygiene (not to mention the flies) and the sheer quality (not) of the food was disgusting. Each day (we went in each day just to see what was on offer) there was one choice of either meat or fish together with cous cous or rice, or on other days, spaghetti. There was soup - however, this looked revolting - weak as water with grease swimming on the top. UGH.

I have to say at this point that my partner and I are not overly fussy and critical. We have always enjoyed our holidays and enjoy experiencing different countries and cultures. But this was not Turkish culture, this was downright disgusting.

The beach was described in the brochure and on the internet as being a private beach for the hotel. However, to get there you have to walk past a cemetery, through a travellers camp, along a dirty pathway with rubbish strewn along it and when you eventually get to the beach there are such dangerous steps down to it that you take your life in your hands to attempt it. Having got down on the beach, there is no sand in sight, just dirt and stones the size of rockery stones, not shingle, and it is impossible to enter the sea from the beach. The people in the sea had jumped in from the wooden jetties at periodic intervals along the beach. Very dangerous for children as the jetties just have rope along the edges - any child could slip through very easily.

Apart from one other British couple, we were the only Brits there. Everyone else was German but mostly Russian.

To anyone reading this, I hope you are reading it prior to booking and not before, as I really don't think you will be in for an enjoyable time. If I had never been to Turkey before, I would never go back. However, we have had a fantastic holiday in Turkey at another resort and hotel so we have seen both sides of Turkey.

  • Liked — There was a fridge to keep the bottles of drinks we bought off site cool.
  • Disliked — The dirty shower room
