“A wonderful, restful break!”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

My family spent two nights at Tara this month, and it was wonderful! It is not very far from Rome, but it is in the heart of some of the best-kept secrets of Italy, which Francesca and David were SO happy to share with us! They provided hospitality, a cozy place to stay and such a friendly atmosphere that we will definitely be going back!

We enjoyed 4 lovely days at Tara and highly recommend it as an ideal spot for an individual or family holiday. Nestling in attractive countryside close to the historic town of Amelia, Tara offers accommodation to match the surrounding countryside. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable, and the general facilities were excellent - a separate sitting room for TV viewing or individual activities, a shaded outdoor area and a superb swimming pool. The hosts, Francesca and David, could not have been more charming, or generous. Each day Francesca prepared a sumptuous breakfast, with her freshly baked cake a daily temptation. David regaled us with generous samples of the products of their property - fruit, olive oil and wine. And both were enthusiastic in their advice about what to do and see in the local area, so rich in its historical heritage. Their young triplets and two family dogs added to the friendly atmosphere and reflected the general sense of harmony that prevailed everywhere. All in all, the ideal spot for a relaxed, enjoyable holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet, with views.

Agriturismo Tara is such a lovely place to stay! A quiet and very beautiful countryside setting, wonderfully welcoming and helpful hosts and extremely attractive and comfortable accommodation, We stayed in the cottage - spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated - and also took a look at the well appointed rooms in the B&B. Close by are some very interesting and ancient towns well worth visiting. We particularly liked Narni. We highly recommend a visit!

We got to Tara after a week of traveling in Umbria and seen some other agriturismos,
And this is with no doubt the best place!! It's got everything - beautiful view , quiet , close to rome ,
Swimming pool , beautiful rooms ( very clean and beautifully designed ) and the owners are sweet and welcoming .
The breakfast was amassing and we didn't want to leave!
We definitely will come back!

This has got to be one of the best places we have stayed at. Why? Great location - quiet and relaxing, in the hills about 5 minutes drive from the beautiful town of Amelia. The cottage, where we stayed, is tastefully decorated and appointed with everything you need. The aircon works great. There is no indoor lounge area , but there is a table with chairs in the kitchen. You don't really need an indoor lounge, as there is a large shaded veranda area with plenty of seats for relaxing and an outdoor dining table, plus barbeque. The pool area is great and again is all very well and thoughtfully designed. Finally, what really makes this place, as several other people have mentioned, is the fantastic hospitality of Francesca, David and their triplets. You will arrive as guests and leave as friends - they are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and considerate and will strive to make sure your stay at Tara is happy and memorable. They will also probably share with you oil from their olive grove, wine from their vines and the products of the many fruit trees and the vegatable garden. Francesca and David can give you lots of great suggestions for places to visit, places to,shop and to eat. You are within easy driving distance of lots of great places in addition to Amelia - Orvieto, Narni, Todi, Cascate del Marmore, Roman town of Carsulae etc etc. Go - you won't be disappointed!

We had a wonderful week in the cottage at Tara. It is a treat to stay at this beautiful place. The location is very good to explore this part of Umbria. The house is quietly situated in the middle of olive and fruit trees. We enjoyed the view from the veranda. The cottage is designed, build and decorated with care and taste and it's very pleasant to stay at. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms are lovely and the two bathrooms are very good. Aircon is perfect in the hot Summer. Francesca and David's hospitality is great, they did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible and helped out when needed.
Our children had a lovely time playing and swimming with the children and hanging around the veranda's (both main house as cottage).

Francesca and David have created such a warm, welcoming place at Tara. They are detail people with big hearts—the magic combination of qualities that makes their hospitality the best in our two month trip to Europe. I used to think that if I stayed somewhere with a beautiful room and a beautiful view that was enough. But I’ve come to realize that service and hospitality are the components of a trip that make it most memorable and most relaxing. I read the reviews here on tripadvisor before booking, and I’m so glad I followed the advice of everyone else: go there and you will not be disappointed. We are extremely picky travelers and have been all over the world in very expensive accommodations, and Tara still ranks as one of the best places we’ve stayed. We rented the cottage with our three children, and by the end of the stay I was wishing I could build a house just like it and get rid of our big house in Oregon. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t need, which means you’ll be able to relax while you’re there. The pool is simply fantastic, and everything at Tara is impeccably clean and comfortable. Francesca accommodated every single special request I made, and she and David bent over backwards to always make sure everything was just as we wanted it. They shared apricots from their trees, oil from their olives, wine from their grapes, strawberries from their patch around the frog pond, and lettuce from the garden. They arranged horseback riding lessons for my children. Everything they do they do with a smile and a generous spirit, and their sweet, generous children are the same way. I wish we were their neighbors! We’ve been back home almost a month, and just today my three year old asked to get on a plane and go back to Tara. I felt the same way he did!
