Nice hotel still in the eco friendly mode can only be accessed via a boat from the jetty but its a pleasant trip. The hotel is very rustic and does not have all the mod cons of some of the other hotels with an attached shower and toilet open to the sky. If you are looking for a modern hotel don't use this one. The staff are very good and helpful and the food is very good. They have some very interesting things to see in the hotel and the butterfly garden is a must. Some other quaint practices such as the afternoon char wallah who comes round by boat for afternoon tea and the unusual practice of grasscutting.
Not everyones style but if you like peace and quiet and you are a twitcher this would suit you fine.

What a magical place to rest and relax. Our mistake was only booking one night! The staff was exceptionally accommodating and ready to respond. The food is excellent. We happened to mention during lunch that it was our wedding anniversary . A few hours later a "surprise" cake was delivered to our room. A perfect place to relax after traveling in India. The outdoor bathroom is so fun. The massage was the perfect and reasonable. One night just won't do!

Great place, food and Ayurvedic centre for a relaxing massage. Very polite and helpful staff. It has a rustic charm so if you are looking for absolutely modern rooms..you may want to look at another hotel like kumrakom lake resort or zuri. I loved coconut lagoon

We spent five days at the Coconut Lagoon to relax from our trip though India. It is an amazing hotel: the staff is wonderful, the food is great, the hotel is really quiet and the location in the backwaters -only accessible via boat- is perfect!
A "tea boat" provides you with fresh masala tea during the day, you can go on boat trips, bird watching trips, do cooking classes... or hang out at the nice pool with a book from the library. We especially liked the cows that are kept to cut the grass, this makes for a nice atmosphere.
The villas are not new and somewhat dark but still nice and there is plent of room for your luggage. The outdoor bathroom is a nice suprise.
We would recommend the hotel to all our friends.

We have just finished our ten day stay at the Coconut Lagoon. We went in search of peace and tranquility and found it! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were always smiling and looking for ways to improve your holiday experience.

The food is top notch as is the accommodation. We had a heritage bungalow which was perfection.

We can recommend the bird and butterfly/dragonfly spotting trips organised by the hotel. The guide is very informative and knows where to find the most species etc. On our birds posting trip we saw thirty two different types in just over an hour.

Room Tip: Ask for bungalow numbers 218 or 219 as they have views of the lake and the river traffic.

Dear Guest,
Thanks for your lovely feedback on your stay with us at Coconut Lagoon. In your short stay, you seemed to have had a chance to experience a range of offetrings. The Heritage Mansion can be a little inconvenient at times I understand; having said that, it is an authentic representation of Keralan homes in the not so distant past and a great introduction to the heritage. I hope you can come back for a longer duration the next time and have more experiences at not just Coconut Lagoon but some of our other destinations as well.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Regards,
Anjali Tolani
