I travelled to Kumarakom during a family vacation last summer and I am writing this review from my notes. Coconut Lagoon is a CGH Earth Property which is on an island and can be accessed only by boat (the hotel arranges transfers). We had taken an overnight houseboat cruise and got off at the landing and walked to the reception where we were greeted by the check in staff. We were then led to our rooms one of which was a Pool villa which had a private pool. Other rooms were in cottages built in old traditional Kerala style. Both were quite well furnished with proper air conditioning. The pool villa opened on the Vembanad lake with a veranda leading into the living room and a bed room. The pool was at the back and behind the villa were open paddy fields. In the evenings one could see people from the nearby village fishing in the lake in front. There were a series of small canals throughout the property.
The hotel has a spa and also offers yoga classes - The massages were very good. The restaurant where the food was served ..usually as a buffet was also open air though with a roof. It offered a good variety in food and a lot of traditional Kerala cuisine. One of the days we were served a special Kerala Thali which had a lot of exotic delicacies like duck. The bar was open air with a limited selection - purportedly because it was off season. The bartender mentioned that they stock up before the peak season when most of the guests are foreigners. We went bird watching one of the mornings with the resident ornithologist and saw an amazing variety of birdlife - a must do thing. We also visited the shop in the hotel which had some interesting antiques and knick-knacks. The staff at this hotel was very warm and courteous. In fact as we checked out a whole bunch of them turned up to see us off. Wi-Fi/mobile coverage is limited. Overall a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Pool Villas have more privacy and are brighter and larger.

The best time to travel is during winters as summers is warm and they do not have an airconditioned restaurant. Well maintained and courteous staff Food is good and activites are well planned. Nature friendly resort with cows fishes and trees all aroung. Th backwater view is great. But sad part they favour foriegners more to Indians A foreigner was given gifts on exit but we were left high and dry.

Room Tip: Take rooms closer to the reception easier to go to for all activities. Near Backwaters rooms are goo...

Had Funtastic vacation at coconut lagoon. We stayed there for 2 nights and 3 days in May 2014. Was just awesome experience. We enjoyed every bit of it right from making our big entrance into the resort via boat , welcomed by nice courteous staff, good flute music . Rooms were good with sufficient lighting and facilities. The open bathroom concept is good but not enjoyable when you want to use it during nights and you are scared of the bee stings .

The food was good with wide spread. Their cultural programs in the evenings are nice and entertaining. The sunset cruise was awesome. We spent a considerable time by the pool. The pool was pretty good . Only one remark is that the level of the water in the pool is not marked ..

The property is just excellent. One can sit hours together on the lake facing benches and see the green lake and blue sea meeting. We stayed in heritage bungalow facing the lake and the scene outside from our room was great. Was really a nice break except for the heat . Would definitely recommend going there during winter. The spa is good and can be useful only when you stay for a long period.

Room Tip: There are other larger suites by the paddy fields . Here one can have access to butterfly garden and...

I had a short 2 nights stay and felt I made a mistake of not planning more days here. This is a place with such serene views, loads of activities and truly a hideout from the bustling city life. The spa was really good with the Ayurvedic massage rooms facing the addy field.

Good fud, gud service. Try to club your stay with other activities around, like house boating so that you are more engaged. Don't miss out on the speed boat experience and a visit to pathiramanal island. The staff are so friendly they all come to wave goodbye during checkout.
