“Excellent Heritage resort on Vembanard Lake”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 weeks ago

It took us an hour and a half from Kochi airport by car to reach the hotel jetty, which is by the side of the road. The hotel had sent a big motorised boat which transported us to the hotel, as the hotel does not have a road entrance. We were welcomed by live music (flute and drums), garlands, wet towels and served coconut water. The resort is spread over 30 acres and there are different areas for Heritage bungalows, Heritage Mansions and Deluxe pool villas. The Heritage villas are not near the lake but some Heritage Mansions and all pool villas are opposite the lake. The rooms are large, comfortable and well furnished. We stayed in rooms 207 & 208, which were Heritage Mansions. The service during our 3 night stay from 11th Nov, 2016 was impeccable but they do not give newspapers in the room. The breakfast spread is good but too much skewed to south Indian taste. The speciality restaurant which is between Heritage Mansions and pool villas serves a variety of dosas at lunch time and seafood for dinner. A lot of activities are conducted by the resort and they keep you fully occupied all the time. As most of the resort is crisscrossed by water canals, an old lady comes in a canoe near your room to give complementary tea/coffee in the evening which is exotic and unique. The resort also offers speed boat and canoe cruises which we loved a lot. We loved our experience at the resort and would definitely go their again, but the tariff is slightly overpriced because of the heritage tag.

Room Tip: Heritage Mansion is good. Select rooms between the two restaurants.

We stayed one night before boarding a houseboat and we wished we were staying longer. The staff cannot make you feel more welcome and the food is delicious also for kids. The kid’s club does beautiful art projects and arriving there by boat makes it feel extra special. We hope to go back.

I stayed as a solo female traveler for a few days at this property, and had dinner at both their restaurants.

I didn't manage to take part in the activities at the resort, because I was actually in Kerala to attend a friend's wedding, but the service at this property was impeccable.

The boat ride in added a beautiful backwater feel to this, and the welcome coconut was lovely as well. (I hoped it would be chilled, but oh well. It was still refreshing after a long journey.) I checked in to my room, which was half of a two-story traditional house, and spent some time unpacking and exploring the room and the property. The lake next to the resort was serene, and it really let me relax into the atmosphere there.

The evening cocktail and jackfruit chips I had at the poolside bar were delicious as well. The kicker of the evening would be the seafood dinner I had at the lakeside grill. Delightfully seasoned with Indian spices, this was the best dinner I had during my stay in Kerala.

The staff were extremely helpful, as I had to put on a lehenga, and they helped to arrange my sash so that it stayed in place and was manageable throughout my friend's wedding. The spa treatments there were heavenly - even though it was priced a little higher than what you would pay for outside the resort, but the high level of service was what distinguished them from the rest. I'd definitely recommend that you try out the Ayurveda treatments here!

We went during the new year time as a group of 7. The overall experience from getting the water taxi til leaving with the water taxi was beautiful. The service is outstanding. The hotel grounds and rooms are top notch. We were welcomed with coconuts and flowers. The restaurants had lods to offer. Evening entertainment was good too. They had lods of activities to offer but unfortunately we didn't have the time to make most of it. We didn't want to leave the place it was that pretty.

I will definitely be visiting again and this time for at least a week.

Another cgh earth marvel.
Beautiful hotel on 30 acres ground by the Vembanad lake.
The heritage mansion rooms are beautiful, food is great (especially the Dosa lunch and Fish dinner), the pool is deliciously inviting and the massages extraordinary!
A truly wonderful place.

After 2 nights on a fantastic rice boat we were sorry to disembark but that didn't last long when we were dropped at coconut lagoon. This is a truly magical place in a lovely setting with genuine ecological and ethical values. The bungalow was built in Kerela style and kitted out with everything we needed. The bedroom was upstairs and was comfortable and airy and the well equipped bathroom open to the elements downstairs. The pool was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.

There was also the possibility of doing cookery classes, walks round the resort to see birds or to hear about the eco friendly credentials plus dancing etc. The food too was excellent - top marks all round.

Coconut Lagoon is a once in a lifetime experience. The resort and their dedication towards conservation and recycling and everything to make the planet better is exceptional.
After a short boat ride you enter the beautiful coconut lagoon with its beautiful waterways, heritage traditional houses, private open air bathrooms and natural beauty everywhere. As mentioned Coconut Lagoon is a beautiful once in a life time experience.
Couple of drawbacks of the resort is that there is no room service and a lot of mosquitoes at night. So make sure you carry bug repellant.
