Stayed here for one day during tour of Kerala. Accommodation and location is great as was the service from staff. Nice view of the lake and large swimming pools. Hotel was pretty busy as were were there during the local school holidays.

Room Tip: Try to avoid during local school vacations.

What could have been a memorable stay, turned to be a pretty average affair. We checked-in after the houseboat day cruise. The location is splendid adjacent to the lake and a swimming pool which had a great potential. The positives were:

1. Lake facing resort , on the banks of vembanad
2. Great viewpoints with hammocks and other seating
3.Swimming pool , both adult and kids
4. Some of the staff were very courteous, even got us cottages next to the pool
5. Spacious lake facing premium cottages, with a good bathroom

-ves:
1. In-house restaurant breakfast food quality - some of the breakfast buffet dishes had even gone bad (e.g - sour chutney, Poori which was tasting sour due to the flour gone bad. None of the so-called kerala dishes served could be rightly called so taste-wise.
2. Endless wait for some of the buffet items, which once turned up at the table couldn't be eaten. Upon asking the manager, the response was too huge a crowd. Wonder if all of us turned up at the reception the previous evening to check-in unannounced !!
3. Attentiveness of the reception or any numbers you tried from the room. More often than not, the rings were not answered.
4. Poor supervision of the crowd in the swimming pool, with kids and adults both diving and not using proper swimming attire. Staff giving a very complacent response that the guest are not listening , upon complaining!

I would rather check-in to some of the adjacent resorts, with half the price we paid here. Even with the prime location , the resort has failed to maximize its potential and leave a lasting memory.

Room Tip: Lake facing premium cottage any day.

we've planned for a family vacation ,hence we r short of days and it should be a 4-5 hrs drive we choosed kumarakom, heard of so many luxurious resorts along the vembanad lake ,we choosed abad whispering palms lake resort and booked through kerala travels .com

we started travelling towards kumarakom in a sunday morning,on the way we had our breakfast at cumbum[tn]than we started our trip, there was a viewpoint near kanjirapalli, full of mist ,took some snaps and then we started and reached kottayam a big town near kumarakom, had lunch at hotel indraprastha, and we headed towards kumarakom ,way to resort is bit confusing, need some more big sign boards,
At last we reached the resort, entrance and the pathway were scenic and serene,we checked in and we were allotted three garden view cottages and one bamboo pool villa, security people were helpful in carrying luggages, but we need to walk walk & walk for a long way to our room could be helpful if they have battery cars for senior citizens,
entered our room garden view cottage, room was big and clean, opened the garden door ,nice grass and flowers, but full of insects flying
open the wash room it was a open to sky type good but i was shocked to see a big spider in the wall, closed the door and i took a herbal mosquito repellent spray and sprayed elsewhere,b'cos i've brought my 8 months old kid with us .
Thought of using the swimming pool, saw there was a huge crowd in the pool ,pool location was good ,besides that was the lake, within few minutes insects flies flies everywhere, reported to reception ,he told it will be there till 8 pm and it will be ok after that left the place and went to my dads room {bamboo pool vila ]room was bit more spacious and the pool was good and we ordered food from the room
initially they told only buffet available ,since we don't like that buffet menu stressed for room service ,we got the food 2 hrs later, but he told priorly it will be late to serve in rooms.
food was ok and we slept off
next day got up and went for a swim in the big pool with again a big crowd..thought of swimming in the room pool, came and shocked again to see some frogs were swimming in it,reported to reception they took it casually and sent some staffs to clean the pool, i was feeling a bit awkard..
went for breakfast in the restaurant, complimentary buffet, very few items in the menu, took much time to refill ,and service was bad..disappointed
went for a walk along the pool and took some rest in the hammock nice breeze..
went for lunch ,again disappointed regarding variety of foods vegetarian there is only one dish, asked that waiter he told he cant do anything regarding this, shouted at him and he brought the supervisor we asked him about the food quality and variety he was dumb and brought us some fried vegetable items ,for this stupid buffet we paid around rs 5oo per head.
irritated and asked that waiter y can't u serve good food ,to my shock he told u need to ask the owners ,i asked him y didn't u convey them he told ,they will sack him and this group has nearly 17 properties and owners won't bother about these things.disappointed again
went outside to kumarakom lake resort for dinner,

spa: we need to book in advance, even after booking we need to be in exact time or else it will be allotted to someone without informing to us.treatment and massage were very average.

boating:we need to inform reception for a ride.motorboat was OK, and speed boat was good.

overall experience in the resort was disappointing, location was too good ,maintenance and staff
friendliness to be improved a lotttttt..

conclusion
To the management : your ship is sinking, better clear the defects on time. it's a nice property don't waste it

Travelers : if u r looking for a average resort and u can tolerate any type of food and poor service, economic packages u can choose this one,but there were plenty of good resorts in kumarakom .

Room Tip: for senior citizens choose rooms near pool, easy to reach reception and restaurant for privacy lovers choose garden view /bamboo pool villa

This was our first visit to the backwaters of Kerala. We had booked a lake facing cottage and the view was absolutely stunning. While my family was enjoying in the pool i just sat on the lake shore and went on clicking pictures till the sunset. The food was good - a mix of authentic Kerala Cuisine and North Indian specialties. The room service is good. Overall a pleasant and relaxing stay.
