we recently traveled to kumarakom and as suggested by chrison holidays we have selected backwater ripples resort. This resort is just facing towards the vast backwaters of Kerala. The location was amazing and so beautiful. We can just jump into the backwater like that only the resort located. Even though the food was very expensive, we enjoyed it. It is really suggestible to the travelers but a little expensive. Thanks to chrison holidays and backwater ripples. Sunil jha

Room Tip: Dinner can be avoided, since it is a little expensive. You will get good food nearby

The resort is set beside the Vembanad Lake and it has a very relaxing and laid-back surroundings. The garden is well-maintained and the restaurant staff try their best to assist although they can be a little confused at times.

However, the rooms are not very well cleaned and maintained. On our first night of arrival, we were desperate for a hot shower but found the bath tub unclean. It was full of hair remnants and dead insects and dirt! It was really not acceptable and I was thinking to myself, oh dear it is 1 am at night and we really need to bathe and sleep after a flight. And considering that it was already so late and I wasn't too sure even if I call for housekeeping whether they will take much longer than it takes for me to clean it myself, I decided to heck it and spray clean the bath tub myself!

We also found the floor tiles to be generally unclean. They always have this sticky feeling giving us the impression that they seldom mop the tiles. On our first night, we also found left over muruku and chips on the floor beside the easy chair but fortunately, the housekeeper cleared it the next day. But this shows that they did not clean up the place properly after the last guest checked out.

But at least, the bed sheets are clean and the bed is comfortable. If you call for the housekeeping services, they also take quite a long while to come but they will eventually come. So I can only say this place is just average.

Will I recommend this place? if they improve on their cleanliness and maintenance of the room, then I will especially since it is not a cheap place.

We stayed in hotel with my family for 2 days. The resort is located at the bank of backwaters. The ambiance of the resort is very peaceful and natural. All the rooms are surrounded by nice gardens. Resort have all the necessary amenities as well as facilities such as cycling, swimming pool, heath club, table tennis room, carom, etc.

The rooms of the resorts are poorly maintained considering their rent rate per night. But the surrounding atmosphere makes the overall stay relaxed.

They organize free one hour backwaters sunset cruise. But our ride ended before sunset.

Our son enjoyed cycling very much. We also enjoyed playing carom and sitting in the veranda sipping a cup of tea.

We are purge vegetarian however, we did not find any problem in getting good veg food in the restaurant. We also liked the breakfast served.

The swimming pool is under open skies and well maintained.

But during our stay we felt that they charge randomly for many things. Like we purchase swimming clothes (as it was compulsory to wear swimming costume in pool by hotel) for our son. One person said its price Rs. 550 other charged less than that and on asking reason for more charge the first person said the other might have given discount.

Dear Guest,

We thank you for opting to stay with us and reviewing our resort

We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the ambiance, food and the other services provided during the stay. Your good words are definitely a motivation for all of us in Backwater Ripples. Please note that we compelled to end the sunset cruise at 06pm by local norms as fisherman will put the fishing nets across the lake for fishing. Swimming costumes are necessary to use swimming pool as per the hotel policy, which can buy from us for a fixed price, the charges mentioned on the comment is inclusive of all applicable taxes. However, we have taken your comments to the concerned and we assure you that we will retain our reputation and will strive to maintain standards on all our services.

As guest feedback goes a long way in improving our performance we thank you for the same once again.

Thank you for recommending us through the Trip Advisor and we look forward to host you again soon.

We stayed for 2 nights in Nov13. It is a very peaceful and calm resort with clean environment and helpful staff. Lake facing rooms are excellent and have very good views. Food is nice. Spa and Ayurvedic doctor is nice. Don't miss full body massage, its very relaxing. Complimentary sunset cruise is also OK. We did not stayed in House boat but looks pretty.

Room Tip: Lake facing first floor is best

Location is pretty good near to the lake but the rooms are poorly maintained and service is also poor. It seems the resort is interested in attending to the banquet guests and have not much interest in other guests. There were some big events going on in the banqueting area during that time.

The Lake view cottage which we had received was on a dirty side patch of the lake and no where close to the main lake. It was not at all attractive. The air conditioner was not functioning properly due to lack of temperature control and so we put that off most of the time. The room was also not properly maintained and the bucket in the toilet were occupied with cockroaches.

The restaurant was pretty fine and well maintained, but service was not so great. For dinner our order was taken wrongly and the staff didn't knew what to do. He was not ready to do any remedy and kept on saying that I ordered that particular dish, which I am very sure that I have not done. I didn't want to create a scene and so agreed to pay for the extra order. However the buffet breakfast was pretty good even though there was no variety and spread limited. Most of the dishes were same on both the days of our stay.

We waited for half an hour for our check-out and nobody came to collect our luggage even after 2 or 3 repeated calls. So we carried our bags ourselves to the front office and checked out. The Front Office was least bothered to take care of us or at least show some concern.

Having said the troubles there were some good areas too.

The pool area is good and the pool area staff and security were also helpful. The Hotel also has a good gym and recreation area.

Room Tip: Don't go for the Lake view cottages. They are advertised as lake facing rooms but not all of the...

The price paid to stay in the property is worth. if you want to have your food inside the resort...the management literally took inflation to the menu card rates . exorbitant is the word.... How come rice, seafood are being priced on the so upper side, when its available in abundance locally. doesnt make sense atall. so if you are ready to enjoy the location plus food, think doubly and get ready to spend multiply.
