We stayed at the hotel Pericles for two weeks at the end of May/beginning of June 2014.It's a really nice, typically Greek hotel and we enjoyed our stay very much.
The rooms are of a good size and they were cleaned every day and the lovely white fluffy towels and crisp clean sheets were changed regularly.
It's in a quiet area so at night it's good for sleeping.
We went with friends and had booked two rooms. Before our holiday I sent an e-mail to the hotel to ask if we could rent fridges and upon our arrival Nina confirmed this. The fridges were already in place in both rooms, very efficient. Nina is lovely and very helpful.
Stellios (the manager/owner) was a very pleasant, polite man and he always said hello to us whenever we saw him. We did not witness him being rude to anyone, quite the contrary. The negative comments on here about him seem unfair.
Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. It was the same every day but no-one has to eat the same things every day as there were several items to choose from. There was sliced bread which you could put into a very good toaster, crusty bread in slices, cake, sliced meat, cheese, yoghurt, cereal, honey, butter, jam, marmalade, hard boiled eggs, tea, coffee, orange juice. What more can anyone want.
Stellios stands in the breakfast room and oversees the running of it with great efficiency and his staff are extremely good. Nothing ran out as it was replenished all the time.
A comment we would like to make about Stellios's presence at breakfast time is that while we were there we witnessed a family who just left their kids to help themselves to everything without their supervision. The parents just got their own food and sat down leaving their kids to it. On one occasion the little girl was trying to make toast and she was prodding the toaster with the metal food tongs. It's a good job Stellios was there to keep an eye on things and stop her. He was really doing what her parents should have been doing. Give the man a break and look after your own kids, it isn't actually his job!
The pool area is great and both the kids and the adult pools are very large. You can have a good swim in them.

Sami is a short stroll from the hotel and it has great tavernas. We tried lots of different places to eat and they all served really nice food. The local wine is very good too.
If you walk down the lane to the right as you come out of the Pericles you'll find a fabulous country lane with goats, sheep, chickens, a peacock and other animals on your stroll to the harbour.
Look out for Dimitris and his friends, they're fabulous musicians who entertained us several times while we were in Sami as we were lucky enough to see them in a couple of the tavernas on the front. They are really worth listening to, Some of the locals will also dance to their wonderful music. What a great night out. Thank you to everyone involved.

If you walk left from the hotel you'll come to bakeries and supermarkets.
Antisamos is paradise. It's a gorgeous beach with 2 tavernas. The sunbeds and parasols are free all day provided you buy a drink at the taverna. A member of staff will come to serve you while you chill out on the sunbed. so you can be waited on. It's such a fabulous place that you'll want to stay all day. They serve lovely food too so it's ideal for a spot of lunch. A taxi is 12 euros. Our driver asked what time we wanted to go back and he was there waiting for us on the dot. How's that for service.

Please go and say kalimera to the gorgeous donkey across the road from the hotel. He loves carrots and will pose when you get your camera out, he's a character.

Melissani cave lake and Drogarati caves are within walking distance from the hotel.

There is only one bus a day which comes to the hotel at 8.05 am and goes to Argostolli and it leaves Argostolli to return at 1.00pm. Therefore a hire car is highly recommended on this lovely island.

We had a lovely relaxing week at this small hotel. The swimming pool is lovely and the view is fabulous - surrounded my mountains. It is relatively quiet and we will no doubt return next year! The decor could do with a little bit of an update in certain areas but we loved it. It is only a relatively short walk from Sami and if you turn right out of the hotel and walk down the back way it is lovely and peaceful (you can talk to all the animals if you wish!). Loved Sami too - lots of lovely tavernas although we did frequent Dolphins the most because they were just so welcoming and friendly and the food was good!

Room Tip: I'm not sure you can choose a room! I think it is a bit of pot luck!

Arrived back last week from our 2 week stay at the Pericles. After reading some negative reports on here i was expecting some small family hotel with a miserable, controlling owner, how wrong i was. The hotel is great, in need of a bit of an update but quite adequate and very good value for what we paid. The bedrooms are basic, but plenty of hanging space and storage, one of my wife's biggest moans. Location is great, a nice steady stroll into Sami, and not forgetting Robert the donkey who seems to charm most of the guests. Stellios the owner is a nice friendly person, always smiling and ready to help but appears quiet due to his possible limited english. Nina on reception is great, speaks perfect english and the person to ask for information or directions. Would gladly recommend this hotel to anybody, but you will never satisfy everybody, some people want five star accommodation and treatment for budget prices.

Room Tip: Try for a room facing the sea, but even the ones facing the car park and road are ok, all have nice...

I loved my 5 day stay in Sami at the Pericles Hotel. Very clean. Nicely decorated. Superb value. Great breakfast. (Try the yogurt and mix in some of the local honey.) The staff, including the owner, was incredibly friendly and helpful. The pool was wonderful. I will stay there again, and I give my highest recommendations.

Lets face it, you are only at a hotel to sleep so for that purpose its perfectly adequate.
Its clean but it could do with a bit of TLC. The shower head wouldn't stay on the clip and the rooms numbered from 201 to 208 are directly above some sort of pump room which goes on intermittently all night.
Bar shuts at 12 (not 12.01) and you cannot sit in the bar area after 12.30 thats when you have to retire to your room.
Breakfast is served from 7.30 until 9.30. I struggled to make it but I wasn't missing anything.
Coffee is just instant nescafe and is 2.50€ a mug. Drinks are expensive at the bar, you will pay 7€ for a glass of Baileys and about 3€ for a bottle of beer.

Room Tip: 205, 206 and 207 are directly above some sort of pumping station. Quite noisy.

We have just come back from a brilliant week in Sami. The hotel was ideally located in Sami and perfect if you were going to drive anywhere, which to be honest is a real must Sami is very quiet and small so you will want to get around. Especially to anti-sami beach which I we found better than myrtos beautiful bleached white stones and free sun loungers. Stop outside the Mojito bar food is brilliant and staff are not pushy. All the beaches are shingle on that side of the coast.

The hotel was perfect for the price. The rooms are incredibly clean towels and linen are changed every 3days, some things are a little tired but not offensive. The pool is AMAZING! Breakfast basic with bread, cheese, ham, cereal, yoghurt and boiled eggs. You have to pay for a cooked breakfast. Stelios was very nice possibly a little misunderstood due to language barriers but if you show him what you need he will always try to help. He isn't overseeing portions at breakfast as other posts suggest but is making sure everything is topped up. You can also hire a fridge for the week for €20 and keep your own supplies. Nina is a ray of sunshine and is also incredibly helpful. Keep in mind when you hear people grumbling about breakfast or the pool closing at 7pm that all Thomas Cook pay them is £15 per day per room, not per person, so your value for money is excellent. This was our first trip but like many other guests will be returning.
