“Very well presented villa with pool near Sami, Kefalonia”
Reviewed 18 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Villa Chrisanthi is very well presented and the owner, Dimitris Rouchotas, was very welcoming. For two to four people the villa is well proportioned, including a spacious terrace with an attractive barbecue, which catches the morning and late afternoon sun, and on a lower level a pool with ample, sunny, poolside space for relaxing. Views from the villa look towards the south and the hillsides around. The neighbouring villa (Zoi, also owned by Dimitris) is a mirror of Chrisanthi and is the only accommodation that prevents absolute total privacy. All windows have fly screens and air conditioning, although during our stay we remained relatively insect free. The lounge has a large television with Astra and Eutelsat satellite tuner, in addition to local terrestrial channels.

The harbour town of Sami is 3.5km distant, where there is a range of well stocked shops and harbour front bars / restaurants. Nice to have unlimited free parking! There are no shopping, eating or drinking facilities in Grizata, although there is a small taverna in the next, close by village in the direction of Poros, which we did not try.

Dimitris provided us some welcoming provisions and a list of restaurants / tavernas around the island to enjoy. We tried his recommendations in Sami (Il Familia, which we stumbled upon before noting his recommendation), Poros (Pontelis), Aghia Evfimia (Perasma) and Divarata (Alexander). All were very good. We also enjoyed The Village in Skala, a well presented taverna half way up the main street with good food and pleasant service.

A car is essential for both local travel to Sami and for island touring. Plenty of fuel stations. The journey from the airport is straightforward, although we found it easy in Argostoli to miss the turns for Sami. Sharp eyes and some imagination required! Kefalonia is very hilly with many mountain-like roads and hairpin bends, one after another. Care is needed.

Any changes we would make? A small dishwasher in place of one of the kitchen cupboards would have been nice. Also, a thermostat on the water heater - we had to set the timer on our 'phone to remind us not to leave it on for too long.

Overall, highly recommendable for a pleasant stay in green countryside without the burden of heavy commercial tourism.

Dearest Dimitri & Niki,

We spent 3 wintery months in Sami, Kefalonia and loved every single day of it.

First of all, the villa Chrisanthi is gorgeous, and exceptionnally well-fitted : internet, washing machine, complete and well-equipped kitchen, barbecue, balconies, lovely decoration, lots of space ... and in such a quiet place ... the best when you want a real vacation !!

Then, your kindness made our stay a delight, telling us about the nice spots to explore, the good restaurants, the hiking trails, ...

You have helped us in every way, with your distinctive discretion.
You´ve been the sweetest hosts.

We wish you a lot of visits to the house that really feels like a home away from home !

All the very best to the two of you and your family,

Zinoviya & Eric

“best of both worlds”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

we stayed here for 1 month and found it very relaxing. the villa itself is spacious and comfortable and has all that you would need , the kitchen is state of the art , and the well positioned balcony allows you to enjoy the countryside and the setting sun
the villa has the best of both worlds , set in the country yet minutes away from the sea and the town of Sami with it's many tavernas and cafes, in particular check out Manifiko cafe bar on the sea road , great views and music .
I recommend highly the villa it suitable for groups , couples or family .the owners Nikki and Dimitris could not do enough .

Fantastic and quite location . Value for money. Fabulous owner who provided us with a fantastic pecan-chokolate pie and who was always friendly.
Villa Chrisanthi is new ,beautifully furnished (new, modern & elegant) and decorated, extremely clean with great beds and very good Wi-Fi.Villa is definitely big enough for six people and has a large terrace with fantastic country view. It is conveniently located in the middle of the island, close to several touristic attractions.( drocarati cave only 2km away, melissani lake 6km away, antisamos beach 6km away)
The directions Dimitris provided were perfect and an indication of how much he cared. We would love to come back again soon.

Management Response
7 Sep 2017
I am so surprised about this review , in the beginning I thought you are talking about another villa you stayed.
The reason is that our villa is set in a key unspoilt location of Kefalonia, It is very tastefully furnished throughout and is designed to the highest aesthetic standards, with unique style and quality.
It offers all the amenities a holiday maker needs,it is set in a quite place in the village of Grizata only 3 km away from Sami small town and port where someone can find nice taverns, restaurants, cafe, bakeries,
supermarkets.etc
It is also the perfect location as it is in the middle of the island to visit the many many beautiful sights on our amazing island.-this is what our guest say , like the famous Melissani underground cave which is only 6km away from our villa,Drocarati cave which is only 3 km away from our villa, the famous Antisamos beach which is only 7 km away,Myrtos beach about 20 mins drive away,Assos village with the famous castle which is about 30 mins drive away,Fiscardo village which is 45 mins away etc.
I am also surprised, because you did not report me any complaints during your stay about our villa. The only complaint your wife reported us was a little dust in a corner under the bed!! , which was solved immediately as we were informed that you had an allergic baby.
You wrote that our villa ‘’It is not as it looks in the pictures and our villa is old’’
The reality is that our villa is just as described , exactly as it looks in the photos, it is almost new as it is built 6 years ago, It is very tastefully furnished throughout and is designed to the highest aesthetic standards, with unique style and quality.
Our swimming pool and the area around the pool , were built 3 years ago ,so these are also almost new.
In fact many guests say to us when they arrive that in reality our villa is better than what it looks in the photos (you can read our previous guests reviews).
You wrote also that ΄΄The villa is located in a ruined village amidst the old ruins of the village destroyed by the 1950s earthquake (Grizata)΄΄
This is not the reality. Yes, there are in the village a few ruins from the 1950s earthquake, like a ruin of an old church ,or like a ruin of an oil press which for me and many other guests are nice, but the reality is not that our villa is built in a destroyed village and between ruins. (someone maybe thinks that our villa is located in IRAQ between ruins !!!)
There is no bigger proof for someone to see what the reality is, but to take a min to look on the birds eye photos there are on the trip advisor site, which shows that our villa is built overlooking a very nice green valley between oil trees, almond trees and walnut trees e.t.c
I also inform you that the membrane in the pool will be replaced ,so the problem with the yellow border will be solved
You wrote the villa was dirty and full of dust ,it was cleaned every 3 ,4 days ,and the towels were forgotten. ( this is what google translates I am not sure if this is the case.)and the barbecue was dirty.
The reality is that we changed bed linen and towels, and we cleaned our villa exactly every 3 days ,and our huge barbecue was not dirty
You wrote ‘’No pool towels were provided’’. The reality is that the towels were in the wardrobe. It is not our fault if you did not find them.I think if you really wanted them , you would have asked us to show the place we keep them.
You wrote‘’ The entrance is very narrow’’
This is not the reality , the entrance has an iron gate 3 m width.
You wrote, we did not inform you about our other villa (it is called Villa Zoi we own in the same place as Villa Chrisanthi)
The reality is that at your initial inquiry you wanted to book our villa for 7 nights ,but as it was leaving us a 4 nights gap on the heart of the high season, we did not accept it and we asked you if you can be flexible with your dates. We also informed you that if you can be flexible with your dates we own another similar villa which is called villa Zoi , i gave you our property id and i asked you to see photos and details,so it is not truth you did not know about our other villa.
Yes our villas are next to each other ,but they are separated by a wall , and of course they are completed independent .
Each villa has its own swimming pool, gated parking space, barbeque, space around the pool with sunbeds and umprella, dishwater, washing machine, fridge e.t.c and are fully equipment.
You wrote that you were not allowed to write the review on homelidays, the site through which you found our villa, and this is my fault.
That is no truth.
The reason I believe homelidays did not leave you to write a review is obviously ,because you did not book our villa through their site.
You asked me to pay the deposit straight to me through bank transfer ,because you did not want to pay the commission-service fee to their site!!!, so you can pay less money for your stay.
That is all I have to say , I maybe wrote a lot and I apologize for that ,but I just needed to answer and say what the reality is.
