The amazing diving at Scott's Head Marine Reserve is best done with Nature Island Dive. We returned here after eight years because of the unbeatable personal service, great dive sites, calm conditions, and short boat rides.

The diving occurs around the edges of a breached cauldera. Dive sites range from the 40 foot Champagne Reef with bubbling hot springs to the wall at L'bym which drops almost vertical to 1500 feet. Our favorite site was Crater's Edge where a pinnacle sits on one end and leads to a ridge at 90 feet before dropping to the floor of the crater.

Most all dive sites are covered with a multitude of sponges, corals, and fish of all kinds. In our ten dives we saw frogfish, seahorses, barracuda, turtles, and lobsters in addition to all the beautiful reef fish one would expect to find in the Caribbean. Unfortunately, the lionfish has now made it's way here as well.

The dive boat is not fancy, but more than adequate for it's intended purpose. A section of the side opens to allow a giant stride entry and an entry ladder aides your reboarding. The boat captain, Vivien, was always aboard to to help divers into the water, take gear from returning divers, and move the boat when necessary to enable one-way dives.

Simon, our divemaster, was everything one could ask for and more. He knows all of the available sites intimately and does his very best to insure the best possible dive, even to the direction to do the dive for best lighting! His dives are slow-paced and very critter oriented; he knows where to find the creatures you came to see. Safety and comfort are always his primary concerns. His knowledge of local diving is nothing short of amazing.

One of the outstanding services Nature Island Dive provides is a surface interval on shore-no more wallowing in rough seas and getting seasick before your second dive. All dive sites are less than five minutes from the dive shop in Soufriere. You return to dry land to explore the village, eat and drink, and take the inevitable bathroom break.

Unfortunately, the bayside cottage is now history; a new road now passes through its old location. The new apartment resides above the dive shop warehouse in Soufriere. It is close, comfortable, and more than adequate for a couple. The second story deck overlooks the bay and provides great shade for most of the afternoon. a new air conditioned bedroom with concrete walls isolates you from a sometimes noisy village night. When the nights are quiet, the breezy front bedroom is great. We never had a problem running out of hot water. The kitchen allowed us to prepare most of our meals.

Everyone associated with this business went out of their way to make our stay the best it could possibly be. Karen, the owner, promptly and honestly answered all inquiries, and Bulesia, the receptionist, took care of our day-to-day needs. We have never been disappointed with the service received at Nature Island Dive.

If you are looking for world-class diving with unbeatable service, Nature Island Dive is simply your best choice!

We had a nice experience diving with Nature Island Divers. Our dive started at 9am, and we went diving in two sites in Sunset bay. Simon was the dive master for the first dive and he was an expert, and took us to quite a colorful site with turtles, lobsters, and an array of fish. Our second dive was with Francesca, she was good too, it was her first dive after two years of not diving, so we were quite concerned at first, but she did great. Our second dive was by the cliffs in the bay. This is a great dive operation as they seem to cater to experienced divers and not the inexperienced ones from the cruise ships. And given that Oscar our original dive master was unable to dive due to some emergency, they were able to get Simon and Francesca to fill in with short notice. The boat is ok, it looks a bit dated, but is quite convenient to get on and off the boat during the dive. Overall, it was a good experience and we recommend Nature Island Divers if you are an experienced diver.

I went to NID, to get certified. May I say the instructor made me feel so at ease in the water. The 2 class was do understandable, by the time I got into the water, it was easy to remember what I had to do.

I would recommend NID to anyone interested in diving.

My husband son and I were here for 9 days to dive. We dove with Sunset Bay Club, Dive Dominica and Nature Island. Nature Island was by far the best! Dive masters at Sunset, Simon and Izzy were fantastic but the boat had a lot to desired. We found out that Izzy and Simon dived at other locations so we were pleasantly surprised when we went to Nature Island and saw Simon. Diving in the south part of the island also has more colorful reefs and that is where Nature Island is also located. Sunset Bay club is in the center part on the west side and while the diving is good it is not as good as in the southern part. Both Sunset Bay and Nature Island have smaller boats so less divers. If you have enough time to do both areas then I would suggest Sunset Bay for the middle part and Nature Island the southern part. However if you only have time for one it's definitely Nature Island. Simon and Izzy are excellent divers and Izzy was great in getting us our advanced open water certificates.
I would definitely not dive with DiveDominica. While the boat is new it is very large and they take numerous divers that are usually from the cruise ships and are inexperienced divers in your group.

Anyway. Diving in dominica is a Must Do! We will be back. Dona, David and Dan

Just dove with Nature Island last week on a port stop with our cruise ship (Celebrity Summit). Karen picked us up on time and drove us to the town of Soufriere (maybe 20 min) away. The dive shop itself is nothing spectacular but let me tell you the diving was stunning! I have over 300 dives and I am continually impressed by the diving off of Dominica. It was just brilliant and Nature Island was perfect.

I was diving with my three daughters (15,12 and 10) and they all had a great time and great dives. Tony (our divemaster) was simply the best. Great with the kids and just an overall nice guy. We dove three times that day and everyone got better than the previous one.

If you are considering diving from a cruise ship (and don't want to be in a cattle car with the pre arranged cruise ship excursion) I highly recommend calling Karen/Tony and diving with them.
