We stayed at the Village Holiday Club for one week at the the end of April, low season but with all amenities open.

The resort was quiet but fully functioning including the small pool which was not surprisingly cool but swimmable for some. The number of sun beds was limited, fine for low season but in high season we cannot imagine how the resort copes with the number of guests that must arrive. There is no children's pool.

There is a games area with a pool table, table tennis, etc. a library, a wine cave, a sauna and jacuzzi . All in all we felt it was quite comprehensive for our needs but not very suitable for children nor older people with walking difficulties as there are quite lot of steps to be negotiated around the site.

Next to the pool is a snack bar that serves an adequate breakfast for 6€ until 11.00 am every morning and good quality snacks and drinks throughout the day. We made good use of it during our stay.

The rooms are well sized well equipped comfortable and clean. Our one bed apartment had a sitting area, kitchen with a table large enough to seat four, a sizeable bedroom and a bathroom that was rather small but adequate. Many rooms have balconies with distant sea views.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are serviced on alternate days which suited our needs adequately but we would have liked the bins emptied daily which was our only real criticism of the workings of the resort as a whole.

The village has many excellent standard restaurants (enough to be able to eat dinner in a different place every night for a fortnight without being disappointed). You won't need lunch as Cretans actually don't know what a small meal is. The village also has a few clothes shops, tourist shops, and a mini market but for more of this the town of Hersonissos is a short drive away or even a walk if you don't mind walking back up the hill.

Overall an enjoyable and relaxed stay in a lovely resort in a pretty village with wall to wall sunshine all week. What more can you ask for?

We came to koutoufari in April of this year, stayed at the holiday village, we loved everything about the place,, not only was the staff helpful and so friendly, the whole area full of Greek tavernas, was so welcoming, not all the tavernas was open yet being the season don't start until may time, but that didn't put me off, just made us want to come back next year around may, to see the whole place come alive, and definitely staying at the holiday village again, pre dinner drinks opposite with Manos and Melanie at casa Nostra cafe, great atmosphere food and drinks with Alex and Christine at taverna Mezes, lovely family run taverna Nikos the fisherman, mamma lovely special potatoes, cafe greco, the Trap, so many to name, and there was so many more yet to open, love love love.Tina and Paul x
