“The food is not an afterthought in this scenic restaurant”
Reviewed 18 February 2013

This is a review of the restaurant mainly, not of the hotel itself. The hotel seems like a great place for a quick weekend getaway. There is not a whole lot to do in or around the hotel, so this is probably for people who want to do absolutely NOTHING at all on their breaks. It does make for a pleasant, diverting stop on the drive from Delhi to Jaipur.

The restaurant itself is great, with a beautiful scenery (if you are sitting outside) and very pleasant in the afternoon winter sun. The food choices are great too at the lunch buffet (about $26 pp), and the chef is willing to conjure up off-the-buffet dishes for fussy kids. The food is not quite an afterthought as it usually is, in such scenic restaurants.

However, if you are spending that kind of money on your lunch, it does seem criminal for the hotel to charge about US$14 to just enter the hotel premises (though you can set $7 of that against the meal).

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind words about the cuisine and the restaurant at Neemrana Fort-Palace.

Your compliments have been conveyed to the Chef and his team.

With respect to your feedback about the absence of recreational activities, please note that in addition to the two outdoor pools, there is well-equipped gymnasium, morning yoga classes, indoor games like chess and carom board, a table-tennis facility, and an intimate library near the reception that guests can use on a complimentary basis.

Further, there is a self-guided multimedia guide, camel and camel-cart rides, a vintage car ride, India’s first zip-lining facility, and a spa offering rejuvenating ayurvedic massages and treatments that guests can avail on a chargeable basis.

Since Neemrana Fort-Palace is situated halfway between Delhi and Jaipur, there are many day visitors that stop by to freshen up and/or have lunch. To ensure minimal disturbance to resident guests, there is a system of an entrance fee for non-residents. However, as you have mentioned, fifty percent of the entrance fee can be adjusted against the lunch buffet and hundred percent of the entrance fee can be adjusted if the guest decides to book a room and stay overnight.

Ideally, Neemrana is best enjoyed in an overnight stay, since the sunset, the night illuminations and the moon-star nights on your terrace or balcony, can't be enjoyed in a quick day tour.
We thank you for your visit and look forward to welcoming you back for an overnight stay soon.

Warm Regards,
Team Neemrana

We visited Neemrana Fort-Palace during the Feb16-17, 2013 weekend..to celebrate our first marriage anniversary. We had asked for a room with a good view and we weren't disappointed with Uma Vilas.. although on the higher end, it was definitely worth it.

Getting to Neemrana from Noida was comparatively easy, though the numerous flyovers under construction were something we didn't expect. We reached the hotel just around 2:30pm..and the staff was accommodating enough to allow us to still partake the lunch buffet.. nothing extraordinary, but the husband loved it, coupled with a few cocktails.

Our room was a suit for 4 people, and it was extremely spacious with an really nice bathrooms. The artifacts in the room added to the experience.

Unfortunately, the rooms are not really very soundproof.. the sound of the people zip-lining was still alright, but a particular set of young noisy tourists (a group of 2 females and 2 males) were a spoilsport..they were so loud, we could hear them in our rooms.....and well, everywhere we went to.

That aside, we really didn't have any other complaints about the room..it was what it promised to be.

The rainy weather was somewhat of a dampener... but overall, I would say it was an experience and a much needed break from the hustle-bustle of Delhi.

It would have been nice if drinks were included in the Gala Saturday dinner that we paid for... considering, there was nothing extra about the dinner spread which would make it worth more than the lunch menu.

Room Tip: Choose 21st Century rooms, if you want a good bathroom. Higher end rooms are definitely worth it.

I attended a wedding at Neemrana which was an absolute wonderful experience. The staff were very kind in attending to my food allergy and the entire experience was very professional. Only a four hour drive from New Delhi which was also convenient. Would definitely consider visiting the fort again. Thank you!

My wife and I went to spend our first anniversary at the Neemrana Fort Palace. It is a beautiful non-hotel hotel in the lap of a small hillock in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. We drove from Delhi on a Saturday morning and it took us almost 4 hours to reach the place due to traffic congestion and various on-going infrastructure work on the highway. I must confess the drive back to Delhi on Sunday afternoon was smooth and it took us only 2 hours to reach Delhi. We had booked ourselves in the Gagan Mahal. Gagan Mahal is a room with a view on the top floor of west wing of the hotel. While you can enjoy your private terrace and the breathtaking view (even from the pot), the bed is a tad small and not very comfortable. Thats probably the only negative point about this place. We went for a zipping tour conducted by the Flying Fox company. This was a wonderful experience. The instructors at Flying Fox are very friendly and of course super expert at their job. I have vertigo but still I enjoyed the zipping trails. You should get your video made by Flying Fox (which is an optional service at the cost of Rs. 500). The hotel also provides a few additional activities including camel rides, ride in a vintage car, a multi media tour of the palace. The lunch served was delicious but their multi-cuisine approach was not my favourite. I wish they had restricted to Indian cuisine only - thats what they are best at. The open dining space is beautiful and super romantic. We also visited the spa and found it above average. The best part of the stay was the evening when the entire palace is lit. The palace looks just beautiful in the evening. We were treated with a supelative Bharatnatyam recital by Pallavi Saran Gujral. She is a very acclaimed dancer and her performance was the icing on the cake. This was followed by a gala dinner at the open dining which was a royal affair. The food served was again highly delicious and this is a 'gala dinner' in the true sense of the term. There were traditional Rajasthani musicians entertaining us during the dinner. The dinner gets over by 10 pm and here generally they call it in early. The complimentary breakfast next morning was also very good. The breakfast is served in an indoor room which is good as it was a little cold in the morning. All in all, it was the perfect place to spend our first anniversary. Highly recommended for couples as a romantic and beautiful getaway.

Your compliments about the zip-lining and the Spa have been conveyed to the Flying Fox team and the Spa team.

This hotel is a great escape for those living in Delhi- only two hours away by road (or 3.5 hours on a Friday night), it provides a relatively quiet, away from the city spot for a weekend. The air is cleaner than in Delhi, the food in the hotel is very good (although the very spicy dishes out number the less spicy ones by a margin of 3 to 1), and the warren of hallways and rooms makes for interesting journeys. However, the rooms themselves still just aren't at a level one would hope for- they need repainted, they aren't the cleanest, windows don't close properly, the wifi doesn't work, the water in the shower is hot for minutes for hardly sufficient for two people, and heaters provided in the winter aren't sufficient and an additional one is needed in the bathroom. It wouldn't take much to really make this hotel 5 stars, but management doesn't seem committed to adding the value. In addition, on our recent visit we were awakened at 4:30am by a group of residents yelling and screaming and running through the hallways of the fort; they later settled in the parking lot, spoke in loud voices and blasted music- at no point did the hotel tell them to stop, kick them out or otherwise deal with this-amazing- and when I spoke with the desk in the morning, they seemed to be completely unaware of what occurred and didn't even bother to offer an apology. In addition, if you stay during the high season-October-April, you are required to purchase the "gala meal" on Saturday nights, which is basically the same as the buffet every other night of the week, only with a few more dishes, and Rs1600 isn't cheap. With there being so few weekend choices out of Delhi, the Fort Palace remains a good option, but one that could be greatly improved.

Room Tip: the rooms vary greatly - from small with little light, to huge to small but with great balconies or...

I was there with my family for two days and one night. The for is really great and something different. However, it is worth a visit only once and not more. The rooms have a lot of character but have a strange feeling to it too. For some people it is wonderful but for some it is very weird. It all depends if the room suits you or not. We had Gujarat Mahal (which was extremely noisy as it is next to the reception) and it is hard to get any sleep without hearing the conversation of the people outside. We also had Burj Mahal which was very small with a small bed (told to us that it was for two) but they changed it to Tulsi Mahal which was still better.
Please keep in mind that living in a fort requires that you need to be agile as the steps are very steep and the distances long with a lot of slopes!
The service is fine but the biggest let down is the below average food served. They serve only buffet with no a la carte dishes. The buffet got monotonous for us for the second meal and the quality of the food is surely 2 star. The manager told us that they serve a lavish breakfast which was equally disappointing.
Overall, we have been there once and have experienced it but do not think we might go there again.

Room Tip: As away from the reception as possible.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback about Neemrana Fort-Palace.

As you may be aware, every effort has been made to retain the original structure of the Fort which dates back to the 15th century.

With respect to your feedback about the rooms, please do note that Neemrana has a range of rooms from INR 3000 to INR 25000. The room size, decor, and bathroom amenities are in accordance with the price. The heritage wing has some rooms which are small or quirky in the lower categories while others are rather grand. Do inform our Sales team about your requirements and they shall gladly assist you in finding a suitable room whenever you stay with us next.

With reference to the feedback about the food, please note that the lunch and dinner buffet includes approximately 15 dishes with a mixture of Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisine including vegetarian and non-vegetarian soups, salads, starters, main courses, and various Indian and Continental breads and desserts. Do give our Chefs an opportunity and they will try and please you whenever you choose to visit next.
