Ranikhet was a wonderful experience for us. We reached Kalika Forest Rest House, which is 13km above Ranikhet. There are two well-furnished big, warm, double bedrooms with attached bathrooms. Kitchen and kitchen-help are provided, but we are required to bring along our groceries from Ranikhet or Tadikhet village. Each room has its own fireplace and food is cooked on wood-ovens. The Rest House is situated within a dense forest and if you are lucky you may even spot a jungle cat. Close to the rest house(within walking distance) is the famous Kalika Temple, where the faith of the people is preserved by the venerated Goddess.

Chaubatia gardens could be accessed through cars. One can see many fruit trees. like apple, apricot, peach trees and many nut trees like walnut, pine nut, chestnut, almond. The guide is helpful and talkative and will tell you everything about the place and the establishment. One may also buy jams, chutneys, squashes of all the kinds of fruits(apricot, plum, peach, blacknerry) and flowers(rhododendron flowers). The jams do not contain any preservatives and stay fresh for many days and possess a unique, unmatchable taste.

Truly a place worth visiting everytime.

This place is basically interesting for the people who want to gain botanical knowledge. Guide will tell you about each and every species of tree and plants grows in hills.
There is also a separate farming of apples and other drygruits.
Overall this place is good for gaining knowledge and some beautiful views of flowers.
