“excellent stay and beautiful place”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

I have been there in second weekend of May , the property is very well managed by Mohan\Puran.
One thing which is appreciate the most is the quick service provided by all the staff which is a rare picture elsewhere ,so kudos to all the staff of Mohans resort . The only disadvantage i the long distance traveling from Delhi to Binsar but if you are planning to go make sure to stay for at least 3-4 days to relax an enjoy the nature and Mohans hospitality.

Thanks
Neeraj

Room Tip: Please plan your meal in advance specially lunch to give enough time to staff and avoid waiting

This hotel is an offbeat one with a very quiet and beautiful location. Sunrise was visible was all the rooms with great view of the mountains. A little away from the resort, we were able to see the snow peaked mountains as well. Very peaceful at the resort as well as a couple of kms from the hotel. We did go for walks in the evening and found it very pleasent

Food provided was good in taste and hot. Each time the dinner or breakfast was served, we would get a call from their kitchen which i call personalized service. After giving us the time for breakfast and dinner, it would be our responsibility to be there at the time, but still they would call to remind us. Food served in the buffet was a good spread. When our group was the only ones at the resort for the day, they would give us whatever we requested for food.

The deluxe suites were good with a comfortable bed, clean washroom, a sit out area, tea/coffee kettle and all other basic amenities that one would require. On both night, they arranged for a bonfire for us to enjoy our evening with good music.

Mr. Mohan is a great host and always on his toes to greet his guests and pass on whatever information anyone required. We recd good service from Basant, Mr.Bisht and all other members of their staff whever required.

I would have given this hotel 5 stars but i gave it 4 stars since we found insects and cockroaches in our hot chocolate and bread toaster. But i guess it is a hilly area and remote location. They did maintain hygiene and cleanliness but i guess at times things just happen. But that does not stop me from recommending this hotel to anyone.

Recommendations:
1. All rooms are good
2. For any information or problem just speak to Mr. Mohan. He is always helpful with a smile
3. Punjabi and continental food was good
4. Book in advance in season time as it is a small resort with 10-12 rooms only.

Room Tip: All rooms are good with the same view.

Our stay at Mohan's Binsar Retreat was most enjoyable. The scenery was to die for, and the hospitality was more than perfect! Mohan and his entire staff were courteous, attentive and caring throughout. We got the feeling that nothing was too difficult or too much for them to do to make us feel comfortable.
The food was extremely tasty particularly the hot, stuffed Parathas for breakfast on a cool morning and Pahadi chicken for dinner.
The resort is excellent for Bird-watchers. One can spot many different species from one's balcony, and also in the surrounding areas.
The icing on the cake?.......On a clear day one can see the Mighty Himalayan Peaks as well!

Mohan's Retreat is one of the Best places around Kumaon belt of Mountains near Almora. The location, ambiance of the Rooms, Outside sitting area, view from the resort, & specially the Food out their is just wonderful. It has that special feeling of Hospitality with Mohan ji himself & his entire staff is really Hospitile & handy.

This is really a kind a place where one looking for Isolation & peace with blend of good food, specially the Turkish Coffee & Cold Coffee which isout of the World, must go once to discover it all.

My Best Wishes for the Whole Team of Mohan's Retreat.

Thanks for having us, we surely would come again.

We stayed at this resort for 4 days and Mohan and his team made us feel as royals and we were completely at home. Special mention to Gopalji who fed us the most delicious food. The Tuna Pizza and the Pahadi Chicken were worth dying for. As is with all the resorts, you need to climb a lot of stairs to get to your room. But its well worth it as the room view and ambience was lovely with mist in the valley and Himalayas from the balcony. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants an experience in hospitality.

Room Tip: Room 107 and 108 are great.

Highlights: The views, their speed of room service, their food (try the tuna pizza!)
We stayed there in the last week of December. The staff was very attentive. They didn't mind making multiple trips as soon as your order is ready - just to ensure the food is hot and you don't have to wait. And the food! We had the best tuna pizza and great pancakes here :) We were on the MAP plan (breakfast & dinner included) and when we asked what & how much we could order we were told "Anything on the menu, as long as you don't have to waste it" Very fair, and totally reminds me of what our parents would say - & very unlike other places.
The view from our rooms overlooked the valley. It was very pretty seeing the tiny twinkling lights at night and the early morning view from the room. We had a great time sitting in front of the room and enjoying the view and the great food.
The staff is also very caring. My husband had fallen sick when we arrived and the staff was very caring and immediately arranged tablets for us. The next morning, the 1st thing they enquired was about his health. We had a bonfire near the restaurant on our last day - they kept the fire & the music going even when we were the only people sitting there.
Would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: Rooms further from the restaurant have good views - Take them if you are OK with a lot of climbing...
