This is more of a drive-in hotel . The hotel is nearly 6km ahead of Almora town and 7 km before Binsar. It is 2 km away from the main road on a hillock so ok for a adventurous walk but in case you have ladies or children along , a vehicle is very much needed . In a way that is perfect , you are away from the maddening crowd and can enjoy your seclusion.
The rooms have a real glossy interior but the cliché is the big 5x3 ft glass windows—if you are in the top rooms there is a excellent view . U need to get up early in the morning to catch the sunrise …the view from the rooftop is simply marvellous …the Himalayas rise up in all their mountaineous glory.Same for the sunset.
The hotel construction is pretty modern ..bathrooms are with newer furnishings and the child room was pretty cosy too.
The food is nothing worthwhile to remark about but the morning parathas were lip smacking…and hey do not miss the tree in the restaurant ..something novel
One should also try Mohan ..a small restaurant just across the road …do go in the morning by 9 ..they make a really good cake ..somehow the aroma still haunts me after all these months.
For children there is not much to do but there are some indoor games like TT and the outside lawn area is large enough plus there are plenty of TV channels
The hotel could do with some landscaping though ..more flowers etc although I haven’t seen so many rhodendron flowers in a such a concentrated area for a long long time. There are abundant trees nearby so altogether it gives a very foresty feeling .

Travel tips - do not take the direct route via Khairna to Almora ..although a 30 km direct route it makes u feel like a tsunami has hit the area ..the road is absolutely gone ..instead take the route via Ranikhet although a good 60plus km longer it is smooth 5h gear drive.
I had used Almora as base to go to Jageshwar ..it was a liftetime wish ..the Shiv temples are preserved wonderfully and the transition from the pine trees to the gorgeous deodars is simply cannot be captured in words….even my kid commented it was like he was in the forest in Harry Potter films.

Room Tip: try the top floors for the view ...trees obstruct the view elsewhere

It is a beautiful property and has some large and some average size rooms. However it is very far from the town Almora and if one doesn't have their transport, it will be a task reaching the town. That's besides the point. The manager - Manish is not suitable for the hospitality business. He is not helpful to guests and when faced with a sticky situation , takes the offensive approach to prove he is right, so one needs to keep distance. Wonder how he got hired in the first place? The staff tries to be friendly and helpful but they are actually fishing for heavy tips and have their eyes on your belongings all the while. So be very careful when u stay there. The view is badly obstructed by the thick vegetation around the property so don't have much hopes from the location. Good place to only relax in your room. Food is average and better to go to their restaurant for meals rather than wait endlessly in the room for room service.

We a group of friends stayed there for 2 nights during our visit to Almora. It is on the hillside and away from main Almora town.
So those who want to enjoy calm quite stay will surely enjoy this resort which has very nice premises full of pine and fir trees. We were there in the month of June so could not enjoy the blossom rhododendron trees which are in good number in and around this resort. But we were welcome with red drink made of rhododendron flowers by the hotel staff.

The location of the resort made it quite peaceful stay. The rooms and bathrooms were good. The staff was very helpful but since the rooms are quite far from reception and restaurant you have to be bit patient for the service. The resort has nice play area for kids and even for grownups they have tennis tables. The resort is quite close to Kasaar Devi Mandir so you can take 5-10 mins walk on the hill to visit the temple.

We enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The food was quite good. The restaurant also has a nice view of valley. It was surely value for money and I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Almora and nearby places.

Room Tip: Go for rooms away from mobile towers

The main lobby and building looks grand and the rooms look impressive from outside, but it is a different story inside. The rooms are of different types. Ours was a standard room, but there are bigger / different categories of rooms. Room was of average size. Bathroom should be maintained better and should have better decor. Binsar is off Almora, so reaching here is tough as roads are not good and are narrow. The resort has a nice view , but due to fog we could not see the Himalayas in the horizon. The room service is average and the restaurant is basic, so stick to Indian food. If you want anything special you'll need to order or check with them earlier. The Kasar devi temple is a short climb up the hill and is a good place to go. If you are not expecting great service or facility and just want a less crowded place to relax, this is the place for you.

Resort Location is excellent barring few hiccups for approach road. You must have a vehicle at your disposal. Resort provides very good view of mighty Himalayas and surroundings are serene and very peaceful. Ideal for honeymooners and couples seeking quality time. Room service is a bit let down and toiletries provided (includiing towels)are of sub-standard - make sure you carry your own.
Food quality (buffet) is OK, they need to add more variety both for breakfast as well as for dinner.
Do check out a small restaurant called Mohan's about 200 mtr down the main road for Pizza, Pasta and other continental variety. The quality of food at Mohan's can give famed continental outlets run for their money. This place is also frequented by most of the foreigners, who stay in this area for longer durations.
Overall, Kasaar Jungle resort is a good place to stay.
