The room was nice, spacious, the view was beautiful, the lawns expansive. However it is cut off from Amboise town where the Chateau is and one has to take a taxi . The Hotel itself in a small chateau is very pleasant . We reached in the early evening after visiting Amboise itself only to be told that there was no place in the Hotel restaurant . Having spent the whole day in the town we did not again want to take a taxi back to it and wanted to relax in the Hotel . The Hotel should either give priority to Hotel guests or inform at the time of booking that reservation is essential in the Hotel restaurant for dinner . The Hotel was not even willing to serve a snack in the separate bar with a drink. Fortunately someone cancelled and we could get a place but the point remains .

Dear Sir,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about your stay at the château de Pray.

Comments like yours are extremely rewarding for our staff and our hôtel.

Concerning the reservation for the restaurant, as you can see we have only 20 tables and we are quickly fully booked, that's why we precise you in the booking confirmation to book a table before arrival.

It was a great pleasure to receiving you at the Chateau and I hope that we will have the chance to see you again at the Chateau.

Best regards,

Cécile CARIOU

Umm........... not sure how to write this............. sounded great and booked via C&HC, rather dopey staff on arrival and no bag carriers, rooms in old chapel and in stables. Rooms were beautiful but we have seen more beautiful ones. Dinner very expensive and so we went out to Amboise and would recommend the Pizza restaurant. Nice pool but rather difficult to get to and pile of dog doo-dah on the path down to it was rather putting off.
Breakfast was good, but got the impression it was another rip off the Loire valley punters. Did not like the paintings in the breakfast room. However our breakfast hostess was wonderful and she gave us some great recommendation for Ile de Re eating out. We loved Amboise, went to the Da Vinci permanent exhibition which was really good but found the chateaux a bit crowded with excited noisy tourists from the Far East. Were going to do a tour of Segway bikes but then it rained, fun drift down the Loire on a boat didnt see a lot but the guide was amusing. So Chateau de Pray good but not the best.

Beautiful chateau. Excellent service! Staff very welcoming. Very isolated though, so this vacation experience would be better for couples, more so than for family. Beautiful landscape and wonderfully serene and peaceful.

While the chateau is gorgeous, there's an air of formality there so you can't exactly relax and explore the place freely. Apparently the rules say you can't eat in your room or you would pay for the furnitures (don't worry - we didn't eat anything there). The garden was hard to get into. We stayed in a room right next to the restaurant's toilets. At time of booking, it said the room we booked would have a canopy bed and it wasn't the case. Breakfast would cost extra. It gave us a feelings that the restaurant took priority over the hotel guests...The place wasn't easy to find. All in all, it was a bit expensive given what we got.

We had 2 GPS systems and both of them had trouble finding this lovely property but a quick call sorted us out. We loved this property for many reasons: the food, the location, the service and the pool. The breakfasts were wonderful and the dinner was just superb. Getting a reservation is a problem but we would dine there again any time - just terrific. We loved the quiet, the birds and it's ambience.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful Chateau in Amboise in mid May. The service was excellent and the building and gardens delightful. If you can make a reservation in their restaurant do so as it is a not to be missed experience. We could not recommend this hotel more highly.

Just ate at the restaurant. Food sublime, atmosphere the right mix of quality and service without being over the top. Langoustine main course achived perfect balance of adding complementary flavours without overwhelming the langoustine.
