“located at the lake and at the foot of Emei mountain”
Reviewed 9 February 2012

Quite nice hotel located at the foot of mount Emei. The view from the terrace to the lake is astonishing. The surrounding area very green and quite. Perfect place for relaxation. The room i stay was at the sixth building and it was quite spacious, clean and good air conditioning, The bathroom facilities reasonable. It was difficult to communicate since most of the staff were note speaking English but they were quite friendly and happy to help. In a waling distance from the hotel and in the same area the premises of hot springs were situated. A five star establishment with private VIP houses. From the hotel to the Buddhist temples situated at the top of the Emei holy mountain is a two hours drive. Unbelievable experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with lake view

Oh Dear! This was an appalling disappointment. We went here with close friends who could only book us in to a room in Block 6 which is a disgusting hole. There is nothing whatsoever to recommend this hotel room. Everything about it was dirty from the bathroom to the carpets to the threadbare towels provided. The receptionists were as welcoming as funeral attendents...
When we arrived it was pitch dark and difficult to see anything of the site, we were directed to block 6 but on getting to the "check-in" desk we were told we had first to go to Building 5 and then return.
There was a European group already waiting in the reception area when we arrived and they had already formed the opinion that it was pretty grim too. Fortunately we were only booked for one night but the Chinese Tourist Board (?) should take a close look at this sort of establishment. If this is supposed to be a Five Star hotel then they need their backsides kicking as it is a VERY poor advert for one of China's top tourist attractions.
The following morning brought firstly a reasonable breakfast which had to be taken in Block 5 and then showed beautiful grounds totally at odds with the condition of the hotel itself.
One other thing, we had to pay to bring our car into the hotel car park and then pay again to leave each time we came and went despite the fact that we were guests. Talk about ripping people off which seems to be something that Chinese tourist areas are particularly good at doing....

Room Tip: Get a room in Block 5 overlooking the lake. Do not accept anything else. DO NOT THINK OF USING BLOCK...

We stayed overnight at this hotel. Quite decent for a night. Has a lake around it. In its house there are many buildings, to coin a phrase, I think we stayed in building 5. No one speaks English. No one. Luckily managed to find one staff member who had a smattering of the language, so managed to order what we wanted at the restaurant. Food is very average but I guess the locals like it, and if a billion Chinese like it, well... anyway, ok for a night or two. Seems to be the best option here.

I went here in April 2010 and we stayed in the first building when you pull in. It is the fancier one, the room we stayed at was $200/night and it is exactly like one of the sample pictures with the double queen beds.

The room was clean and the shower and bathroom was large and clean. It seems to be typical in China in hotels of this rate that you can see into the shower. Unless it's a Sichuan thing.

We took advantage of the spa and went to the hot springs area and I paid $8RMB more to lay in the pool of flesh eating fish. I read afterwards that's not the right kind since the real ones don't have teeth, these did but from what my wife told me my hang nails and skin felt a lot smooth. It felt like sandpaper all of your body.

The area around the hotel is nice, you can walk around and at night the same buildings around the lake are lit up with colored lights. They also strewn the trees with flexible led lighting and it has a weird effect walking through it.

The room included a morning breakfast buffet which was more Western than the other places I've stayed but has a Chinese take on it but it's close enough.

This is the closest hotel before you drive up the mountain. If I visit the Golden Summit again, I'd definitely stay here.

Hotel choices are limited in Emeishan and this hotel appears to be the best option. We stayed in Building 5 (executive king room) which is supposed to offer the best rooms, at higher rates than budget priced rooms in building 6. When Building 5 was built, it was intended to be a luxury 5 star hotel, but it needs to be refurbished and the rooms are showing signs of "faded elegance" and wear. The rooms are spacious, offer free internet, and the bathrooms very roomy -- although the shower stall is visible in the room unless the shades are drawn. The bathroom floor of our room had black stains, like someone stomped out a fire, which was not attractive -- but the floor was clean. The bed was typically very hard. While the TV listings state 2 English channels, both are blocked out. The housekeeping and service staff don't speak English, but we found at least one desk staff who had competent English and we then made our service requests through the desk. Generally, we found the staff eager to please, even without English language skills, although the dining room wait staff was more indifferent. The breakfast was included and decent. We had dinner in the hotel dining room and found the food to be above average Chinese/Sichuan. The hotel grounds are pretty, and within walking distance of the Bagua temple. The weather was hot, and the room's air conditioning worked fine. If you are traveling independently, the online travel agencies which offer this hotel typically offer building 6, so make sure you use a travel agency where you can specify building 5. It is well worth staying in Emeishan because the temples and views from the Golden Summit were spectacular -- despite the foggy weather at the bottom of the mountain, it was clear and sunny at the top (elevation 10,000 ft). But even with taking the cable cars, the climbing on stairs is challenging and for the physically fit.

That hotel was chosen by our tour operator. We have been to many hotel in China and this one disapointed us. Our room was in block 6 and it was under renavation. All the stairs and corridor were durty. No elevator, no bel boy, we had to cary our luggage up two the third floor. The was small, basic, nothing in the bathroom. Bed were very very hard, not comfortable at all.TV with only channels in Chinese. We don't recommand this hotel but, is there any other in this city!

Definitely the non-smoking policy is not enforced here. I asked to change to another room and it was the same, both rooms smelled like tons of cigarettes had been consumed there. I also missed my wake up call because of switching rooms. If you're a smoker, this may not be an issue, except for the smell the room is however clean. But if you're disgusted with smoking then you're taking a chance.
