“Magical”
Reviewed 7 March 2014

We stayed four nights here in a February and were so glad that our stay was so long. We had a wonderful time. Our room in the historical block was excellent with a balcony and lots of space. The staff are very friendly and keen to help. The hotel general manager is extremely efficient and a great asset, if there are any problems they are immediately sorted out and she is always around. The pool is not heated but next year they are putting in solar panels to sort that out. Throughout the gardens are lounge beds where you can read peacefully. It is a good idea to keep your windows shut as the local monkeys are quite inquisitive ! We did several walks in the local village, where everyone is very friendly, and in the countryside with our hotel guide Lala. So many people only stay one night and regret it - stay at least two, it is well worth it and you will leave feeling very relaxed.

Room Tip: The historic rooms are the best choice with quirky ornaments - not all rooms have a bath.

Midway between Udaipur and Jodhpur, this heritage home was an old hunting lodge now transformed to a beautiful boutique hotel of unique charm.
We met the current owner and he hosted the Step Well dinner which you are taken to by bullock cart. Not the most comfortable experience but all part of the fun.
The very old Step Well is magically candle lit and the atmosphere is completed by lilting music.
Surrounded by the Aravalli hills we only had one night, two would have been better to really enjoy what was on offer.
Lovely people with service to match.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor Jharoka room which had great views of the huge hill with the temple sitting on...

This lovely hotel is a treat to walk around and enjoy the grounds and landscaping. There are all sorts of little nooks with places to sit and relax. Our room was spacious and clean. It is very old fashioned, but had lots of charm. There is a pool at the hotel that looked great, although I did not use it. Breakfast was good, a bit limited on options.

Room Tip: I liked the old rooms, but some in our group found them dark. There is a newer building, so if you...

Splendid rooms with creative styling, the whole complex is absolutely well-maintained and shows good taste and a strong love for design. In particular, the rooms in the new part are just fantastic.

The food is also good, but slightly overpriced. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. Bicycle trips and horse riding safaris can be booked. We went on a cycling tour to the countryside and this was really fun. In summary, you should not miss this experience and definitely plan to spend more than one night.

Room Tip: The rooms in the new buildings are spectacular!

We stayed in a Grand Heritage room in this hotel as part of a Transindus tour of Rajasthan. It was a very restful 2 night break in the middle of a tour which involved a lot of travelling. The hotel is well maintained, the room we had was very comfortable and stylish. The food in the restaurant was exceptionally good. On highlight was being taken out of the village in the hotel jeep for a late afternoon / sunset trip to the nearby lake. I could have happily stayed there for a few days longer.

Excellent hotel on the way from Jodhpur to Udaipur. Off the beaten track slightly but an oasis with beautiful rooms and facilities. We were in one of the heritage rooms along with our friend which were really large with good size beds and well laid out bathrooms. Excellent pool area and the choice of menu on offer was really wide and varied and good value.

We went on the Step Well Dinner which is a little touristy and expensive compared to other Indian meals, but an experience non the less travelling by ox car to the well and it was well lite by loads of candles, excellent food brought out hot and fresh chapatis cooked on the burning coals.

Two of us decided to climb the rock, which they enjoyed but if you have a fear of heights maybe not for you.

The hotel staff and service was excellent and can only commend them for helping me get in touch with another guest for which we had lost the telephone number.

We only stayed one night and I would really have liked to have stayed a further night and benefit from a rest by the pool before carrying on with our tour of India.

Room Tip: The heritage rooms were excellent but with ours you needed to be able to climb some stairs, just a c...
