Went for Saturday lunch and had a very good meal, the food was freshly prepared and tasty and the portions were more than ample. Plenty of choice on the menu and a good specials board as well. The staff were friendly and polite and the service was excellent. We dined in the conservatory which is light and airy. Our four year old granddaughter thought her children's roast of the day was yummy and wants to know when Grandpa will take her there again.

We called in for lunch in the conservatory and chose from the Seniors' menu. I had home-made tomato and basil soup which was hot and tasty; my husband went for Yorkshire puddings with onion gravy which he said were lovely. He then had a very nice chilli, with chips rather than rice at his request, while I really enjoyed liver and onions in rich tasty gravy with mashed potato. We were a bit surprised it came without vegetables but the friendly waitress said we just had to ask for some next time.
There was a range of desserts on offer but we were too full. There was a good choice of real ales and my husband enjoyed his so much he ordered a refill so I drove home!

Having lived in the area for 40 years this was my first visit to The Marsh and I was pleasantly surprised. We were warmly greeted by pleasant, smiling staff who directed us to choose our own table. A lot of tables were occupied but we managed to get one by the window in a bright and warm dining area which is more like a conservatory. The menu was varied with something for everyone. Service at the bar was efficient and very friendly with a good selection of craft beers. We ordered our food and were served within a very acceptable time span. The pies were delicious with tender beef and plenty of it. The steak and kidney pie was, likewise, very tasty with a good proportion of kidney. The salmon fillet was slightly overcooked but was very acceptable. The vegetables were also slightly overcooked but the chips were well cooked and very tasty. The staff were extremely pleasant. We shall be returning.
