“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

We had great days here. Very nice staff. We had to leave at 6 in the morning but they happily fixed us breakfast and waived us goodbye. Of course you don't have the overall convenience of home, just remember where you are and go with the flow. Would definitely come again.

The Jungle Inn is a very welcoming and charming place to stay. The staff are excellent, so very friendly and genuine. The location can't be beat especially if you have a room looking over the river. The food is also quite tasty. The jungle inn is a short walk to the orangutan feeding platform and the stay are well versed in arranging guides for jungles treks and tubing, etc. I certainly hope that I have the opportunity to stay in Bukit Lawang again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river, it's a great view to wake up to.

Friendly and very helpful staff at this place who wants your stay to be the very best. Its very good food also and the shakes are amaziiiiiiiiing! There is a lot of monkeys around this place and u will se the orangutans. The restaurant is located near the river and on the otherside of the river is the jungle. We saw some orangutans the first hour, just after we arrived! we stayed for four nights!

This hotel.guesthouse is located at the end of the laneway through Bukit Lawang. We had the room at the very end with entry though the common area and it has two separate outdoor areas and an outdoor bathroom. The latter was interesting when a monkey appeared in the bathroom whilst my wife was having a shower.
There are a couple of large troups of macaques in the area and you will hear them as they scuttle over the rooves and onto balconies etc throughout the village so do not leave any food around or valuables out.
The staff were helpful and friendly and they even got up early on our last day as we had a 7pm start, so that we could have breakfast.
We did not eat any main meals here because we found a nice place just down the lane, but the breakfasts were fine. To be fair there only seemed to be about three places with anyone eating in them at dinner time and jungle inn was one of these.
Gave up fighting with the mosquito net so didnt bother with one and did not get bitten.
Quite a large room and bed needed extra pillows for our taste but none were available so we just used the towels.
The outdoor bathroom floor can get wet if it rains
there are a number of other guesthouses along the lane which is fairly bumpy in places and often you are dodging scooters or lads with tubes.
There was some hot water too but no aircon (not needed by us)
happy to recommend this one as you are getting pretty good value for the amount you pay

Jungle INN in Bukit Lawang was just lovely and beautiful! The owner and everyone from staff was very friendly and helpful, we enjoyed the stay in Jungle view room which offered everything what we needed for a great price! I really recommend this place to everyone, we just regret we did not stay longer, but if we appear to be in Bukit Lwang again, definitely we will choose this place!

Jungle Inn does need stamina. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the road, but through the most delightful village and small market. The hotel is at the end of the the walk, and is ably run by a small group of chaps who can't do enough for their guests. Food is excellent. No wine, just beer. No AC in the rooms but they is plenty of air circulating and you're looking over an active and actively used river, across which is the tropical rainforest which is the home of orang utans, gibbons monkeys and many others. Treks can be organised (excellent value) and there is a sense of family about the hotel. Fantastic stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the honeymoon suite which had the best view and is massive with a wonderfully comfortab...

We stayed at Jungle Inn with our two boys aged 7 and 8. We loved it!!! We organised everything through email direct with Jungle Inn. We were picked up at Medan airport by a comfortable private car and driven to Bukit Lawang 3 hours. On arriving, we were met by Hass and a few of the crew who took our bags by motor bike up the path while we did the 10-15 min walk.

The Inn is located by the side of the river and is at the end of the strip of accommodations. There are a few more accommodations further up the river, more separate to the main group. The restaurant area overlooks the river and the mountain jungle on the other side. Great view. The decorations of the restaurant and the steps around the inn are awesome and very different.

Our room was decorated in an amazing and individual style. We had a beautiful outdoor (but private) shower with hot water and a western toilet. We slept in an enormous bed with the kids on mattresses on the floor. We brought a mosquito net with us and suspended that over the kids mattresses. The room was very large and had heaps of room, even with the mattresses, allowing for the Lego and drawing to spread out across the floor. We had a large verandah with a partial view and a hammock.

We loved the waterfall at the rear of the Inn complex and swam there most days. We loved swimming in the river in front of Jungle Inn. We went into the Friday market in the village which was very interesting and not in any way touristy. We visited the Bukit Lawang Trust English School which was a great experience for the kids. We loved the touristy shop area which was very quiet all week but was incredibly crowded and busy on the weekend, Sunday especially, with local tourists.

Jungle Inn organised for us to visit the orangutan feeding platform which was a great morning and intro into the jungle. We also did a one day jungle trek and river raft with Hass at Jungle Inn. For our family of four we had 2 guides. We saw over 12 orangutans including mums and babies, we also saw gibbons and baboons from a distance. Our guides did not feed or encourage feeding of animals. Our boys did fine in the jungle trek and Hass and Num helped with the boys and took rests as needed. We all loved the river raft back (where they tie large tyre tubes together into a large raft and a group pile on and raft the "boat" down the minor rapids).

I had been concerned about mosquitos and came prepared but we saw very few mosquitos at Jungle Inn. We did see some on the jungle trek but the repellent prevented bites. (But bring repellent with you.)

And the food at Jungle Inn was the best food in Indonesia! The nightly singing and guitar was good fun. The staff at Jungle Inn were awesome!

One afternoon while sitting at the river side, we looked up into the mountains and saw an orang-utan making his nest for the night!
