“Beautiful luxurious rooms in rainforest on edge of town”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

While I did inspect every room, I didn't stay here because we were booked in elsewhere. However this seemed to be the best value place in a very beautiful location. Unless you like paying for tours, one could get a rental motor bike and see all the attractions (which are really good) in 3-5 days. The rooms are spacious, modern but blend beautifully into the jungle. The restaurant has good food which we'd recommend - we met a local couple who were kind enough to be our guides so we did lunch here. The family room is huge with two bedrooms and a living lounge area - and then a very large balcony. The biggest one is amazing - easily enough for 4-5 people, but still have personal space. The price was about 670 000rp so a little more than $50 a night - bargain with nice breakfast. The only down side was there seemed to be quite a few mosquitos at dusk, however all the rooms had mosquito nets.

Room Tip: Big family room crazy good

I stayed in a standard bungalow here for three nights. The location is fine, set just outside of Tomohon so that you don't get disrupted by most of the noise from town. Tomohon itself is nothing to write home about; some might call it rustic - others may say it's dilapidated.
The resort is getting a bit old and worn. Considering the price, it's probably not good value for money either. On their website they advertised the standard bungalow for 250,000 rupiah per night. When I went to leave and pay my bill they gave me a nice surprise and told me the price had gone up to 350,000 per night. Not happy; very unprofessional!
The service is mediocre and only one of the staff, not including Ono the owner, speak English. Restaurant food was good and the Wi-Fi was sound.
There's not much to do in Tomohon but this is a good place if you want to relax in a serene environment and get-away-from-it-all.
My advice to Ono is that he and his staff need to go and do some hospitality training. The service needs a lot of improvement.

We only stayed one night here during a tour of the highlands. The property is quite exclusive. Rooms were damp, but it was a rainy night. My room was huge....as was the bathroom. The hot shower had good water pressure. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner in the restaurant, and the quality of food was good.

The hotel is located on a steep hill with views of the volcano. Almost the entire grounds are covered by a green jungle canopy, which gives an exotic aspect, but it is very damp all of the time. You notice it when you unpack your bag later in a dryer environment.

The rooms are huts with large glass windows on two sides. Bathroom is so so, but there is hot water. A lot of insects in the hut (no surprise of course when you're in the forest), also on the mosquito net.

Breakfast was good. You have a nice view on the volcano from the restaurant. It erupted on the day we left - for us quite spectacular, but for the people of Tomohon nothing out of the ordinary.

The (in)famous Tomohon market is about 10 min drive (walking is too far). We visited Woloan by car, the village where they build fantastic Minahasan houses. They build them in Woloan, then sell them, disassemble them, and then reassemble them later.

I decided to stay here because of recommendation from my friend and a couple we met in Bunaken. I did have quite high expectation of the place. We were gonna arrived on Friday, but we left Tangkoko a day early. We manage to get a twin room for the first night. When looking at the room itself, it was very pretty with a veranda and nice view of the volcano (Mt. Lokon). Walls are made of glass, so it gives you good view of the gardens and volcano.
When I got into the room, I used the toilet and found out that flush is not working, basin is dirty with some mould and insects, and so does the toilet. I immediately asked them to clean it. Staff said flushing isn’t working in almost all rooms but they cant fix it yet cause there were a lot of guests.
I ran the water in the bucket for flushing purpose and the water is actually dirty with a lot of black dirts. Water is better when you use the shower (its probably filtered by showerhead). I am Indonesian, and usually ok with tap water, but I actually brush my teeth with mineral water throughout my stay here.
At night, when I went to bed, i notice again that the blanket is actually dirty, with some black particles and couple of insects. The mosquito net had holes on it.
On day 2, we move to another room with a double bed. No view of volcano, but bed was cleaner. That what I thought until sleeping time, where we looked up and saw the upper part of the net is very dirty with lots of dead insect.
Food was not bad (especially banana pancake) and location is good and green. They definitely need to do a lot of upgrading, including cleaning and changing all those old mosquito nets and bedsheets.
If you are planning to go to the airport from this place, take taxi (bluebird). Half price of getting arranged transport.

Nice large rooms in romantic jungle setting with great views of smoking volcano. Friendly staff. Nice Local village nearby. Food ok. People seemed to be only staying for night or two so atmos was quiet lot of the time. Local waterfall worth a visit but is a tough 2 hr trek to it.

Set in a beautiful green surrounding this is a great place to stay. The rooms are clean and light and the food is excellent. Tours are quite pricey, though you can easily arrange a cheaper tour with the staff.
